We are return customers that have dined in and do Carry-out from here over the years. We did a large. carry-out yesterday evening and the consensus from all of us was not a good one regarding the lamb chops. They were tough, rubbery, did not have the usual char factor we are used to receiving from this restaurant. They were also much thicker than their usual. Could be the quality of the lamb chops they're buying but the taste, the look, the seasoning was not typical of what we are used to seeing coming out of their kitchen. If we were eating at the restaurant, we would have sent the lab chops back. They were that awful. New cook in the kitchen on Friday, April 3rd? Epic fail! Lose the cook or lose your clientele. When the original Greek owners ran this establishment, the service was excellent and the food was authentically Greek. After the sale, that authenticity slowly faded. One by one, the knowledgeable Greek waitstaff disappeared--along with their deep understanding of the cuisine and the personalities that made the experience special. A symbolic example says it all: the statue of the goddess Athena was removed because the new owners "could not stand her," much like the long-standing Greek employees who were pushed out. While the new owners certainly have the right to make changes, those decisions have alienated the very Greek customers who once supported this place. If you want a true measure of authenticity, look at whether Greek customers keep coming back. Returning Greeks are the best certification of genuine ingredients, proper preparation, and cultural respect. Common sense says you don't drive away your most loyal--and most qualified--customers. read more

The last time I came here was years ago. They've since remodeled and I really like the interior. Definitely gives it a more luxe look & feel. Good Greek food. I mostly come here for the saganaki and it is consistently good. Service was excellent and he did a good job on the "opa". Delicious. I had the Jimmys salad which is a Greek salad with dill. Very good dressing and homemade bread was served with it. Also the chicken meat balls are very good. I will have to go back and try more on their menu. Great service. Nice ambiance. read more

Pretty frequent customer here but think this is my first review. Normally a fan but dinner last night fell short a bit. I have enjoyed one of their "specialties" previously (vegatarian moussaka) but it wasn't as good as it usually is last night. Can't put my finger on it but it has a flavor it normally does not have that I didn't care for. Also, the lemon rice soup was unusually salty last night. (Chef, please ease up on the salt). Portions are always generous there and the service is always friendly and excellent. If you enjoy Greek food, Uptown is worth a visit. P.S. salads are always good here. read more

We went for an early dinner. Everything on the menu looked so good that we ordered 4 appetizers to share. The servers were attentive. They brought us a warm basket of fresh bread and our order was out a few minutes later. The saganaki was the best I'd ever had. The grape leaves were stuffed nicely with lamb with lemon sauce. The interior renovations are striking. However, everything is wood, vinyl, etc.; there is nothing to reduce the noise level and it was very noisy, especially in the main dining room. We relocated to the bar area which was better but still noisy. We had excellent service from Theodoros, a long term server. Our group of five had different opinions on the food. Three people ordered Greek; two really enjoyed their food and the other said it was the worst Greek food he had ever had. I had the vegetable stir fry. It was excellent and I would order it again. There was a nice variety of fresh vegetables and a great sauce over rice. The wine selection is very poor. They do not offer any medium or higher end wines. My family made the mistake of not planning ahead and instead, we found ourselves seeking a restaurant that could accommodate a party of six at prime time (7:30ish) on a recent Saturday night... Uptown Parthenon was our fifth or sixth attempt and we were pleased when they told us to come on in. It was clear when we arrived, however, that they were very understaffed. We waited a good 20 minutes before getting acknowledged and another 10 or so before getting seated. Once we sat down, however, we went to the bar to order some drinks, which we needed after that wait ;). Dino was our server and worked his ass off to make sure to get our order in -- we did wait awhile, but the wait was worth it. The food was as good as we remembered it being from years ago. Our party enjoyed the saganaki, fried calamari, and cold artichoke appetizers to start. Entrees included several Jimmy's Salads, Gyro, Moussaka and more. Portion sizes are large and pricing is reasonable. Needless to say, we left with very full bellies. We will definitely return, and hopefully by then, they will be fully staffed! read more

I ordered their chicken lemonato on takeout. The food was delicious! I appreciate the extra effort they put into bagging a takeout order. The individual containers were closed and then wrapped with clear plastic food wrap so the containers couldn't pop open during transport back home. Another good point about this experience was the portion size. It was pretty big. I was able to create a meal for a second day. Dined here tonight with large group. They do have a problem with early evening sun that blinds you despite blinds that reduce the glare. Service was great and so was food. We shared fire sausage, fire cheese, hummus and salad for appetizers. All very good. My main was the steak kabobs and was delicious. Highly recommend this place. read more

We got great advice with a nice mix of menu and catering options including Jimmy's salad, chicken meatballs, spinach pie, yero fixing and, OMG on the baklava!!! Ignored for almost 10 minutes after being seated. The guy doing water, bread and menus ... failed. The baked eggplant and spinach pie on the plate were both cold. Not lukewarm, cold. Kind'a odd given that the kitchen was sort'a slow to get the plate out. Server got it re-heated to lukewarm. Not a fan of the remodel - all the hard surfaces are much noisier than before. Will I return? Maybe once, to see if last night was an anomaly, or the new normal. FWIW; the new streamlined menu eliminated Jimmy's platter. Great food! We've been returning for 8 years or more. But the last 2 or 3 visits we've noticed a change. Yesterday we decided it would be our last return; we even decided not to even eat and just left. All 3 times same vibe. Cold, unwelcoming, no kinda hello-not a smile and dry. Walked away when we walked up..We sat at the door for 5-10 minutes he returned and seemed more relaxed-"please seat yourselves anywhere you'd like." All is well in our minds,so we seat ourselves in a back booth. Waitress comes-same no hello nothing and he kinda tossed the two menus in the table;turns to the next table. We kinda just looked at each other for a second. He makes another spin 5-10 seconds later and asked are we ready kinda sharply. It's NO food in the world that delicious-to over look your nastiness. These guys are probably just old grump men; that's been on the Coney Island circuit. Or maybe they can't find good help and are just tired. The food here is so so good! Kept it simple with lemon rice soup, greek salad, gyro and fries. The gyro was $16 but man oh man the portion is huge and the meat was delicious. Those crispy slices are everything. Ask for extra tzatziki sauce though, it is delicious. I only took off one star because our server was running around like crazy and wasnt very attentive. Ordered a giant carryout for Mother's Day and it would be difficult to list all the ways this experience went south. I could start with my arrival just a few minutes before my scheduled pick up time. I was told they needed an additional 30 minutes! Next my order contained 7 different salads- although oddly none of them came with dressing and yet I was charged for salad dressing ( yes just the typical house dressing) that came in one big dumpster. I had ordered a sizzling skillet but was told that it wasn't available and accepted a replacement item- a stir fry instead BUT on my billing I noticed when I got home was still a charge $22 for the item they couldn't produce as well as $22.50 for the stir fry. The food was not nearly as good as pre-pandemic which is such a big disappointment and I know many others in the local community that have been equally disappointed in this place recently. An example was the lamb chops tasted like they had been dipped in a salt bath. I think it is nice to try to "eat local" ( whatever that means since everyone who works at every restaurant is actually someone who lives and earns money locally). I do feel I was taken advantage of. Not how you want to feel when you frequent a neighborhood place. I am hopeful that by the end of 2021 or no latter than mid 2022 they will work though the kinks and probably get a nice process down. At this time I suggest giving them 6 months to 18 months to get things working smooth and then give it another try. My family has always been a fan and I think if we just give them 6-18 months before going back they will probably be a well oiled efficient machine. I urge everybody to not crowd them and let them have the time they need to work in their new systems. read more
