Turns out there are, you can see from what is available for sale, some Harvard and other quite educated people who live nearby, and some crazy , not even self-serving, racists. There are also Mennonite and rural English (non-plain folks) items, where you can see from a distance the culture of the area. There were no Amish items that I saw (e.g., oil lamps) because I suspect they keep such gifting within their own community you can go for the culture or for the bargains, or of course, both.

But lo and behold, smack in the middle of High Street you'll find an expansive, thoroughly stocked 2nd hand store. My visit coincided with the beginning of the holiday season so they had an entire section devoted to all sorts of decorative Christmassy things. The variety this place has to offer is what really blew me away. Clothes are a given but it was the VHS supply, home-goods, purses, kitchen-wares and other odds and ends that really surprised me. This isn't a trendy, ironic thrift store that discriminates over what they'll accept. Faithcenter thrift store will pretty much take whatever they can get. That being said you'll have to dig through loads of the-not-that-fantastic to find something worth buying, but that's half the fun anyway!

I always find it a huge disappointment when you walk into one of these and the men's section is almost nonexistent. And what is available is like the leftovers that probably would end up at Goodwill. Very few times have I been able to find anything clothing wise. With the pared down selection, and sparse items, this place felt cavernous. To the point if you weren't in here with other customers, you would feel like you were in a movie where you are the only person left. Customer service was over the top here. I also love that items are donated, which reduces pollution and environmental impact as well as keeps viable things out of the landfills. Plus, depending on factors, there are some great bargains to be discovered. My glaring con, though, is something rather commonplace now among thrift stores and that is the overpriced or limited shipping options. I put a few items in my cart today ($32 worth) and was shocked to see shipping costs of nearly $20 for USPS Priority Mail without other shipping options available. When I removed an item, the shipping cost *stayed the same*. Unless you have particularly deep pockets, I'd consider this place more of an in-store visit only, unfortunately.
