I'm assuming I ran into that rude person that others have mentioned in their reviews. Three minutes into browsing, I was asked if I need anything. When I responded with a no, it was as if the world ended. "WHY CAN'T YOU JUST TELL ME YOU WANT TO BUY A GIFT AND PICK SOMETHING OUT?" And thus concludes my browsing. This is one of my favorite stores in the area. You can't find anywhere else near here with this selection of artworks in many media. Some is very expensive, which is not surprising for quality art, but there's a lot of more affordable items as well. It's a real treasure trove. The owner is knowledgeable and was helpful finding us pieces for our new home. They were art glass, which he very carefully packaged and carried out to our car. Bottom line is that I think State College is lucky to have a gallery with this kind of quality. Sure, it'd be nice to have a larger, better organized space, but this isn't NYC, so I expect it's a challenge to keep a business like this going. I ran into the owner while looking at all the paintings piled on the floor. I couldn't easily see the art since it was just a heap of stuff with no thought to organization, and I commented that he needed more space. At that point he rudely said "are you going to pay my utility bills for a larger place?" He also said disparaging things about me when I mentioned that I hadn't known about his gallery, despite living in the area for 10 years or so. I would NEVER buy anything from a shop owner that thinks nothing about saying rude things to his customers. Please do everyone a favor and help him go out of business. read more

Cluttered is cool! This is not minimalist design gallery. The store is packed with tons of great art,to some extent you do have to hunt trough it to find exactly what you are looking for but that's what makes the Albert gallery stand out. The gallery has local artists but they are blended in with national and international artists, they are not given any special recognition just for being from the area. This isn't a gift store its a fine art gallery like you might see in a major metropolitan area. Check it out even if you are not their to buy the staff is always happy to have you walk through and appreciate their art . Most folks put some change in the "browsing bowl" after they see the quality and quantity of art at this informal museum, across from the tavern. read more

The gallery itself looks more like a cluttered retail store; the display is very poor. Its hard to find anything and you can barely turn around without knocking things over. Does not ever stock art by local artists, rather they are a bit aggressive in putting down local artists instead of helping enrich the overall art scene of State College and the surrounding area. read more

The owner is very rude. Last week I came in and asked him if he is purchasing artworks because I have an original printing made by Luis Germán Cajiga. Even before I started telling him the artist name he said he doesn't purchase works from individuals, which is fine. Then he told me to bring the actual work instead of a picture. And then changed his mind again about it. I said thank you. And as I was walking out of the place, he told his customers that I was "crazy" and laughed. I went there just to ask the owner a question. What a lovely little shop!!! It's so beautiful inside; I can hardly keep from buying everything I see! I can't wait to start my full-time job to afford this beautiful art. The Owner is rude and unpleasant. He treats some of the local college students as if they don't belong in the shopping area. He has even verbally assaulted students who are working at the other stores in the area by assuming they don't belong in the employee area parking lot. read more

One of the worst businesses in State college. Not only was the gallery of poor quality, highly cluttered, and extremely overpriced, but the customer service from the owner himself was offensive to say the least. A one star rating for this business is far too high. A WORD OF WARNING: When asked what you are looking for as you browse throughout the pieces, do not say "Oh, just looking." You will be bombarded with rude questions such as "Have you ever bought anything here before??" and "Do you ever intend on buying anything?" The owner even said that he "only allows people to come in two or three times without buying before he bans them from the store." What type of art GALLERY does not allow looking? Making the decision to enter this store will result in a horrible end to what should be a pleasant shopping experience in downtown State College. read more

Worst experience I have had in all my years of visiting galleries. First, it's more of a junk and trinket store with art work stacked on the floor packed into places. Second, I did have the distinct displeasure to meet the owner. He was rude, obnoxious, and an overall a hole. And very discourteous to my girlfriend. I found a piece from an artist I knew and it was way overpriced. I offered a reasonable amount and he basically scoffed at me. If ever in State College AVOID AVOID AVOID. There are much better places and certainly much better people that represent the fine arts than this dude! I wish I could offer no stars. read more

Visited State College for the day and stumbled upon this little gallery. I was surprised to find all the various collections in the store from all over the US - very unique and one of the kind store. Bought reversible ceramic earnings. There are many nice paintings also. Definitely worth the visit. read more

This tiny "gallery" is overcrowded and overpriced. Expensive artwork is in stacked against the walls and on the floor. Artwork displays are outside in the heat and rain. It's hard to find anything to look at because there is so much clutter and junk items. Clearly the owner has no idea how to display or care for artworks. That is not the worst of it however, the owner is extremely rude and arrogant. He offered no greeting or thanks when speaking to customers. If you looking for reasonably priced art, then this is not the place. The owner will not even consider a reasonable offer and clearly has no idea of the value of fine art. I found the owner to be charming and knowledgeable about a variety of artistic media. He carries a huge variety of items, and while he doesn't have things arranged on shelves like you might find at Walmart, there's a new case of goodies to delight at every turn. He doesn't have single items displayed in large, empty spaces, if that's the sort of gallery experience you're looking for. But if you enjoy exploration and discovery, you will definitely find it here. Well, first of all, the guy gave me attitude for not know it was a gallery. I mean seriously, I thought I was walking into a corner pit thrift store with junk. It really looks like that when you walk in because it is so crowded you don't even know what is what. Secondly, the artworks are never on display--they are piled up on the floor or leaning against the walkway. They cost thousands of dollars but don't give you the impression that they are worth the money because nobody would value any expensive and good thing if it came from my basement in the closet. Thirdly, the guy is a douchebag who insults the customers who are not artists. He lives in his own world and doesn't know that people go in stores to look around and have fun. And lastly, no one knows the rules about paintings lying on the side on the wall--if they are worth a lot of money, why isn't there a DO NOT TOUCH sign and why are they treated like old trash in a store room? The real question is, are the paintings even worth that much? I mean the artworks are amazing, but the store itself is more like my grandpa's second hand shop down the street. read more
