My very low score of 2 stars is leaning towards 1 star but the very kind maintenance man who visited our room kept it at a 2. No air conditioning, 3 calls to the front desk over the course of 3 to 4 hours, end result the front desk suggested we open the window. The window did open about 6 inches and did not have a screen. Let's wait and see what kind of bugs we wake up to in the morning. I will edit or add to my review after we check out tomorrow and let, can't wait to see what management does with this.

We had a door that was basically to the entrance. We had to keep the blackout shade down the whole time instead of having a window we could look out of sometimes. The lights in the bathroom were crazy bright with no other option and came on with a sensor you could not turn off. Our second night, the sensor must have been tripped by people walking too close to our door (they went on as soon as you entered the room), since the lights went on without either of us getting out of bed twice. This woke me up and disturbed our sleep. Very annoying. Lionne's food was great, but the service was definitely not very good. Friendly, but not good - especially for breakfast. You pay for parking too. They charge you per night and give you two tickets to get out. You have to pay any other time. They did charge slightly less than you'd pay otherwise, but not much. If not walking to your events on campus, I'd recommend staying elsewhere.

Needless to say, it wasn't cheap. I really did expect more for my money here. Even water that is placed in the room strategically was not complimentary. It was pouring rain and dark on this particular day. We nearly passed up the side road the resort was on. We don't golf, so didn't really care about the fact that there's a big golf course here. Check-in was slow. There was a huge line and only one person working behind the desk. To top it off, after waiting on the line our key didn't work when we got to the room. So we had to go back down to the desk, cut the line and got a mean glare from a customer who was waiting. The room itself needs some serious updating. The bathroom looks old and 1950s style. It's also not very spacious, which isn't a huge deal but might be a turn off for some people. There is also a restaurant located on premise but we didn't visit it. The menu looked appetizing with a variety of burgers.

Unfortunately, when we arrived the rooms looked nothing like the pictures online. They are worn down, the hotel also has a pretty bad smell overall. I figured it was fine we were only here for 1 night. Well unfortunately around 5am the next morning, the fire alarms started to go off around the whole hotel. I waited a few minutes before going up to the front desk to see what was going on. The man at the front said he called engineering and they were supposed to be on their way. My son and I walked around the premise until they sorted out the alarms. At this point it's 6:30 AM. My son asked if he could look at the cup on the golf course since he had never seen one before. He must have been on the course for 3 minutes before walking back to the patio they have behind the resort. As he is approaching someone stops and yells "hey are you staying at the resort, you can't be on the golf course". He is 11 years old, and we would not have been outside in the first place if your hotel didn't have alarms going off at 5 in the morning. I would not recommend. 0/10 if I could rate that low.

Shower was a big roll-in shower that splashed the floor, even with the curtain closed. The shade on the window wouldn't go up, it was one of those "old fashioned" types where you pull a little on the bottom and it should go up (no pull cords, etc). It kind of looked like someone pulled it down as far as it could go and broke it. I love natural light, so I ended up using a hanger from the closet (with the clips) and I folded the shade up and clipped it. Breakfast was ok - your typical continental along with flavorless/powdered scrambled eggs, sausage or bacon (depending on the day), potatoes....but they do have a pancake making machine, which I really liked. Coffee, hot chocolate and tea available 24/7. Minor complaints, so I would stay here again when in the area.

Calvin, in particular really made sure that we were taken care of and that we were comfortable. He even took additional steps to ensure that our stay was pleasant. I will be back in State College next year and will most likely stay there again. It is alto convenient to Penn State and plenty of restaurants.
