My very low score of 2 stars is leaning towards 1 star but the very kind maintenance man who visited our room kept it at a 2. No air conditioning, 3 calls to the front desk over the course of 3 to 4 hours, end result the front desk suggested we open the window. The window did open about 6 inches and did not have a screen. Let's wait and see what kind of bugs we wake up to in the morning. I will edit or add to my review after we check out tomorrow and let, can't wait to see what management does with this.

We had a door that was basically to the entrance. We had to keep the blackout shade down the whole time instead of having a window we could look out of sometimes. The lights in the bathroom were crazy bright with no other option and came on with a sensor you could not turn off. Our second night, the sensor must have been tripped by people walking too close to our door (they went on as soon as you entered the room), since the lights went on without either of us getting out of bed twice. This woke me up and disturbed our sleep. Very annoying. Lionne's food was great, but the service was definitely not very good. Friendly, but not good - especially for breakfast. You pay for parking too. They charge you per night and give you two tickets to get out. You have to pay any other time. They did charge slightly less than you'd pay otherwise, but not much. If not walking to your events on campus, I'd recommend staying elsewhere.

Unfortunately, when we arrived the rooms looked nothing like the pictures online. They are worn down, the hotel also has a pretty bad smell overall. I figured it was fine we were only here for 1 night. Well unfortunately around 5am the next morning, the fire alarms started to go off around the whole hotel. I waited a few minutes before going up to the front desk to see what was going on. The man at the front said he called engineering and they were supposed to be on their way. My son and I walked around the premise until they sorted out the alarms. At this point it's 6:30 AM. My son asked if he could look at the cup on the golf course since he had never seen one before. He must have been on the course for 3 minutes before walking back to the patio they have behind the resort. As he is approaching someone stops and yells "hey are you staying at the resort, you can't be on the golf course". He is 11 years old, and we would not have been outside in the first place if your hotel didn't have alarms going off at 5 in the morning. I would not recommend. 0/10 if I could rate that low.

The front desk said it was likely a bathroom fan. Well, he was right! The bathroom fans (from other rooms) in this hotel are sooooo loud! You will not be able to go back to sleep! I think that's a very important tidbit when it comes to booking a place to stay overnight.

Shower was a big roll-in shower that splashed the floor, even with the curtain closed. The shade on the window wouldn't go up, it was one of those "old fashioned" types where you pull a little on the bottom and it should go up (no pull cords, etc). It kind of looked like someone pulled it down as far as it could go and broke it. I love natural light, so I ended up using a hanger from the closet (with the clips) and I folded the shade up and clipped it. Breakfast was ok - your typical continental along with flavorless/powdered scrambled eggs, sausage or bacon (depending on the day), potatoes....but they do have a pancake making machine, which I really liked. Coffee, hot chocolate and tea available 24/7. Minor complaints, so I would stay here again when in the area.

Calvin, in particular really made sure that we were taken care of and that we were comfortable. He even took additional steps to ensure that our stay was pleasant. On campus, there are numerous locations to workout, but none actually have windows that you can actually see outside. Here at Rec Hall, there are huge windows that let you see North Atherton, although there isn't much to see, at least you can see sunlight. Now with all gyms at PSU, there is a ridiculous crowd. You're most likely going to be waiting for machines, and squeezing by a bunch of people just to get from one spot to the next. Sure, I've looked outside of campus to see if I should be joining somewhere else with less of a crowd. After checking out all the gyms in town, it's still better to go with the gyms on campus. The equipment is newer, and is actually maintained. At places like North Club, sure there isn't much of a crowd, but the equipment is pretty old too. Although the equipment is nicer, my gym experience isn't any better. Because there are so many people here at most times, this places get so stuffy and smelly. At a normal gym, I can run a mile and maybe break a light sweat. Here, after a mile, I look like I've been running a 5k because I am drenched in sweat. More or less, I am working out in a sauna. Rec Hall is the nicest gym on campus to get a workout. There are huge windows and new equipment. Sure, the other ones are larger, but they are also a little older. Plus, you're basically working out in a basement. On the downside, the ventilation at Rec Hall is pretty bad, and the gym starts getting humid and sweaty. If only they could actually turn up the A/C or at least open up a window or two. Want to avoid the crowds? Then don't come here between 5pm-10pm. Go when everyone else is in class so that you can actually get a peaceful workout in.
