I went to this store looking for a new sofa (new to me) my son and I walked the entire store spending approximately 30 minutes there. The "clerk" aka the man behind the counter acknowledged us twice. I attempted to discuss a tv stand and delivery with him yet he was on the phone & did not come over to help. We used the restroom there as we were leaving, and he says to us from across the show room "can I help you with anything other than using my restroom"? I said we had just walked the whole store and his response was "hum" My son and I looked at each other with total confusion. What a terrible thing to say to us as well it was totally uncalled for and not true. Would NEVER go back here to be treated like that again. read more

Today I was dressed down and was told to "go try the mall if I wanted to try a massage chair because I did not look like a serious buyer". I came to just check things out...very nice selection of new and used furniture. I appreciate being able to browse without being overwhelmed by hovering salespeople. I took a few photos of possible furniture I might buy. I went back the next day and easily purchased the chair I wanted. The salesman hauled the chair to my car and we realized it wouldn't fit. He was very kind and said there was no problem holding the chair until I could find transportation for it. Luckily my neighbor helped out and they didn't require that I be present when she picked up my chair. So, a very nice experience and I got a great chair! read more

This place was CRAZY but, the kind of crazy/awesome that makes me want to go back. Very good sized space with a really wide variety. They had some really amazing deals on some great furniture pieces. They had a really wide range of items.......from super fancy pants sofa sets to really inexpensive chairs and tables. They had something for every price point. There really wasn't anything terribly modern or on trend but they did have a good amount of really cool vintage items along with a solid inventory of 10 year old-ish stuff. They have a lot of very "classic" items that could fit into a lot of different decors. It was a pretty cool space with some really great deals and some super interesting items. I could not be more pleased with Upscale Consignment Furniture! I purchased a beautiful buffet in December. Lou was informative as to the approximate age, and the type of wood of this piece! I came to the store to look at this buffet. A day later I was able to purchase this over the phone. And Lou also gave me information regarding a very reliable delivery company! I do not live in the Sacramento area, so I was appreciative of his help in coordinating the delivery of the buffet, and his willingness to except payment over the phone! A lot of interesting pieces but too expensive for consignment. The three stars is for the extremely insulting signs. On all white furniture, "No kid sit here, serious buyers only". And at the framed art section, "do not damage pictures. You break it you buy it". I do not like to be addressed like that and it makes for an unwelcoming, unfriendly and uncomfortable place to be. Won't come here again and will probably tell the story to friends about some store that is ok with insulting their customers. I am sure some kid got some white piece of furniture dirty, so what? They should just chalk that up to the expense of doing business. It would cost them less than the loss of frequent furniture shoppers like me. read more

I dig this place for the treasure hunting, although I think the term "upscale" is a bit of an oversell. I mean, it's upscale compared to Goodwill, I guess. They sell a mix of new and used furniture, but I'd estimate about 75% of it is used/consignment stuff. Some of it is in pretty good condition, but a lot of it is in fair thrift store condition, meaning visible wear but with fair prices. Unlike the new furniture stores, the sales lady didn't hover over us like a hawk, so I appreciated that. We were 100% free to check everything out, plop down on the sofas, measure things, etc. I felt really comfortable there, and when I did have a question, the sales lady was nice and knowledgable. I think the merchandise gets progressively "less upscale" the further back into the store you get because that back room is full of random junk, as far as I could tell. But, hey, if you like thrifting, there might be some treasure back there. I would come back here on a thrifty Saturday, just to poke around. read more

I recently moved up to North Highlands for an apartment of my own, and naturally, it was bereft of furniture. I knew I couldn't lay on my living room floor, so I begun searching on Craigslist for a writing desk. An advert put out by Upscale Consignment was one of the first ones I saw. I drove down there this afternoon, saw that the desk in question was still there, and promptly went to the front and requested purchase. A folding chair was purchased along with it, and the combined total was somewhere around the $50 mark. The proprietor advised me to pull my car around to the rear of the store, removed the legs so that it would fit in my car, and helped me put it in the back seat. The whole operation was taken care of in fifteen minutes. I'll definitely return here in the future. read more

I needed furniture when I moved into a new duplex. I found several items at Upscale that I liked. After rechecking measurement and space, i ended up buying a very nice table and chair set for my breakfast room, a side table with a shelf, drawer, and a marble top for my bedside, and comfy living room chair that I use daily. I'm very happy with my purchases and the delivery process which was quick and efficient. The delivery people put the items exactly where I wanted them and even asked if I was happy with their placement. Upscale has some very nice items for sale. Of course their stock depends on what they are able to buy but when I went there I was happy with many of the items in the store and happy to be able to get next to new furniture at a much less than new price. read more

They have the usual stuff. Nothing special. The woman who works there I suspect is the owner. A very very rude woman. Wouldn't even try to help load a very heavy 9x12 rug into the car. If it weren't for this one Persian rug I would NEVER visit this store. Do not shop here! Bad customer service! They sold me a couch I paid for it and was offered delivery and was told by David its covered. Delivery came and they asked for $80.00 cash or Check and I had neither. The delivery guys called the owner and the owner got on the phone with me and said "these guys have to get paid or we are taking the couch back" Since I already paid for the couch, I told him they are not taking this couch, I paid for it and its in my house! He told the delivery guys to remove the couch from my house. Even the delivery guys agreed with me. I couldn't believe what I was hearing. I will never go there again nor will all my family and friends. The delivery guys and myself were shocked. They ended up leaving without the couch because they knew. Just because someone working in your store all by themselves makes a mistake and instead of fixing the problem the owner made it worse. Breaks my heart that customer service is a thing of the past. When I'm looking for a piece I always stop by, I've found some really great deals. I just purchased another piece from them that is being delivered today. The gentleman who own's the store is very nice and it's a pleasure working with him. Also It feels so much better to buy a used solid wood piece of furniture rather than a particle board flat pack that you have to assemble yourself. The owner Lou wrote it up and i told him i needed delivery. They have a third party delivery service who works for many stores. They delivered it and set it all up for only $80. The gray-haired woman working here today was so obnoxious and condescending, I wouldn't dream of giving this store a penny! We came to look at something from a Craigslist ad that turned out to be a very different color from the ad. Although I liked the piece, my husband vetoed it because of the color. Her response was to look down her snooty nose and snort, "You didn't know that BEFORE you came here?" She then got huffy because another employee had incorrectly priced some light bulbs we were buying, which we declined because she wanted to charge us double the marked price and tried to argue about their value. We didn't respond, as she clearly had a holier than thou attitude, we just left the store, shaking our heads. I had been planning to convince hubby to get the piece - it would have taken me all of five minutes - but I changed my mind the minute she opened her mouth. I'd rather pay twice the price elsewhere than ever shop here. read more
