Hurricane Car Lot - Grandma and Grandpa

    Hurricane Car Lot

On June 17, 2025, we purchased a 2019 Dodge Grand Caravan SXT from Hurricane Car Lot for over…read more$15,000. At the time of purchase, we pointed out minor rust on the passenger upper rear fender, a noticeable misalignment of the passenger-side door, and unusual noises during the test drive. Sales agent Samantha told us every vehicle is inspected, that the van has a clean Utah title, and that the sale included a limited 30-day warranty, and that Hurricane Car Lot would pay 70% of covered repairs. After purchasing, the transmission fluid was severely overdue for service, so Color Country kept the van to flush and replace the fluid. We also discovered badly damaged engine mounts. After back-and-forth with Hurricane Car Lot and warranty administrator Liberty Shield, Hurricane Car Lot paid 70% of the engine mount replacement; Liberty Shield refused coverage, and we cancelled that plan and received a refund. Because payment and authorizations were delayed, Color Country kept the van longer than expected,d and we missed planned family events (July 4). Over the next few months, we returned to Color Country multiple times. AutoCheck shows severe frame damage dated January 27, 2025--less than five months before our purchase. Color Country's inspections and repairs indicate that the frame damage was never properly repaired, which likely caused the engine mount failures. To date, we have paid $1,741 in repairs (transmission fluid service, remaining engine-mount costs, AC recharge, and other items). On April 3, 2026, Jiffy Lube in Hurricane told us the plastic oil housing needed a metal replacement (~$1,200 with labor) and reported there was no transmission fluid. That same day, Color Country tested the transmission fluid in neutral and found it acceptable, but the fluid smelled burnt -- a sign the transmission is severely damaged and likely needs repair or replacement, which will cost $3,500+. That smell indicates the transmission was neglected before our purchase and was not properly inspected. On April 4, 2026, at about 8:45 PM, while stopped at a red light at Telegraph Road and 500 West in Washington City, UT, the van stalled when I accelerated. My youngest child was with me; I moved her to the sidewalk for safety. After several minutes, the engine restarted long enough to pull over near Walmart. The Washington City Police dispatch was contacted. Because Color Country was closed and we did not have their after-hours contact, we had the van towed by SG3 Towing and Recovery through our insurance. Everything is documented from purchase through these incidents. We consider this van unsafe, unreliable, and misrepresented. On April 6, 2026, we sent Hurricane Car Lot a letter of rescission. We have received no response. We have consulted our attorneys and my father, a master mechanic with 50+ years' experience. Next step: proceed with serving legal papers. We expect Hurricane Car Lot to resolve this matter promptly.

i was warned not to buy a car from this place. by many people including mechanics. the car my…read moreboyfriend and i ended up buying is such a shitty car. we bought it because it was a honda. the check engine light was on and told the dealership to get whatever it was fixed and we'd love to buy it. they ended up clearing the code and telling us they had fixed it. my boyfriend was excited and bought it. we ended up taking a trip up north then the check engine came on when we where in middle of butt fuck nowhere. we drove to an orilys and they told us what the problem was. it was an o2 censor. whatever coz it's under 1000 mile warranty. we took photos and left it until we could get back to the dealership. coming back down we stopped in beaver. when coming off the exit we heard this horrible noise. found out it was the FUCKING BRAKE CALIPER. it fucked up the inside rim. we took pictures of all of that to show the dealership. after fixing it in beaver we got home. the next day he took it to the deal shop and told them everything. they said they'd fix the check engine light. once again they only cleared the code. we took to to the honda dealership and paid out the ass to get a diagnostic. we now found out the head gasket has been blown this entire time. and they just cleared the code over and over again. this dealship doesn't care. the mechanic is an idiot. prolly didn't even go to school. really do not buy from this shop. i was warned by many people that havent had good experiences. i didnt listen and now we are paying the price. i dont want anyone else to get fucked over like we did by this piece of shit place. i think you'd be better off buying from the junk yard. i really could go on more about the situation we are in but trying to sum it up. stay safe yall.

Instead, he remained focused on shuffling papers in front of him and looking at his computer. At every turn with this guy, I felt like he just wanted me to leave so he could get on with his day. A tip for them going forward: greet your customers warmly, show them the way to where they can wait for service, focus on the customer in front of you rather than trying to multitask with your other jobs. And, finally, show a little patience for people who are not "car people" and need some help understanding what the problem is. None of that was done in my experience. Customer service. Is there a 10 star rating? I can't talk enough about how this company and Don Kracht (service…read moreadvisor) in particular, saved the day big time. I was driving from Boulder, CO to Los Angeles, CA after dropping my daughter at school. Over the Rockies is was very rainy and my check engine light came on and then went away. Over the course of the next 400- 500 miles, the check engine light came on sporadically and I started to get a skipping in my transmission (or so I thought). I kept driving, hoping to at least make it to Las Vegas where I knew I could get it looked at. Alas, the problem kept getting worse and in the middle of Utah I was forced to stop and look for a fix. I luckily happened upon Cedar City Motor Co. I limped it in and they unfortunately didn't have a technician available that day. I was looking at spending a weekend in UTAH as it was a Friday afternoon. In came Don who said "Im not turning you away". He juggled the schedule for me and had someone look at it right away. They quickly diagnosed a cracked cylinder coil which was making the truck misfire. Not the transmission. Within 2 hours they had fixed the problem and I was back on the road. I can't thank them and Don especially, enough. They saved my entire trip and were soooooo nice about it. This is how businesses should be run!!!!

This place is an absolute joke for many reasons. We purchased a brand new vehicle from them in 2021…read moreand began having issues with it about a year later. Our passenger side will blow ice cold air when it is set to full heat. We scheduled a diagnostic appointment, no resolution. We continued to take it in at random when it was having this issue so they could do diagnostics, no resolution. We have stayed in touch with them and have a total of SIX scheduled diagnostics with one repair of the blend door they claimed was malfunctioning. We paid for this service and it still never fixed the issue. Summer rolled around and it became a laughing matter to them because who needs heat in April, so they had us come pick it up and here we are in winter and the issue is right back. We are on the seventh scheduled diagnostic with them telling us that they cannot get it to duplicate the issue even though they witnessed the issue when we dropped it off, so again no resolution. In the beginning they claimed they opened a case with mopar and any repairs for this specific issue would be covered as it was still under warranty, but now suddenly that has gone out the window and they act clueless about the issue when we practically know everyone in the service center by name after all the times we have been there for this issue alone. They have no answers or next steps for us. Don't buy from here expecting to be treated with any kind of loyalty and definitely don't expect quality from the service center.
