They lost me as a customer. I will never go here again. They are outright lying to customers. Telling them goods are antibiotic free and free run to charge a premium when their products are the same as No Frills. I checked the Belwood Poultry website and their products do not back up those claims. This is crooked tactics taking advantage of the consumer expecting a better experience and product. I don't trust this butcher and neither should you. He told me it was 3.99 a lb for an antibiotic free run turkey and that was obviously a lie. I'm shocked that during covid this butcher would want to cheat his customers. read more

I visited Uppercut a few weeks ago at St. Lawrence Market on the recommendation of a friend who is a professional chef. "Second butcher on the left down the middle aisle," he said. My boyfriend and I were looking to grab some pieces of veal to make schnitzel with on a Saturday night, so you can imagine how busy it was at the market that morning. We got our veal and also a few impulse purchases, which included smoked bacon which was vacuum-sealed and on special... Unfortunately, the young gentleman who took our orders and rang us at the till forgot to put the bacon along with the rest of the meat into the plastic bag, and we did not notice until hours later, when we got home--like any customer, we just assumed that the bag that was handed to us had everything we bought in it. I was pretty bummed out, as I was looking forward to making that bacon on Sunday morning, so I called Uppercut and asked to speak with the person in charge... Bob, the owner, got on the phone after a few minutes (it was busy!) and, as annoying as I'm sure it was for him to do, he sent one of his drivers all the way to my place with the pack of bacon that we had paid for...on a Saturday evening. The guy met me downstairs in the lobby and was very gracious. Did I mention that ALL of this was in the middle of a global pandemic? I wrote this to let people out there know what a wonderful business owner Bob is and to GO TO UPPERCUT MEATS if you are ever at St. Lawrence Market! read more

I heart meat. St Lawrence Upper Cut is one of the many meat stalls open daily in the South Market building of the St Lawrence Market. Upper Cut has the best location - it's the first butcher stall in the middle aisle, directly in front of you as you enter via the Front Street main doors. I often end up buying my meat from here after perusing all the other stalls. The pre-made fresh souvlaki skewers (beef, lamb, chicken and pork) are a bargain at $1 each. They also have huge 6oz beef burgers for only $1 a piece. They have every cut of meat you could possibly be looking for, it's one of the biggest stalls in the market. They have plenty of staff and they are always super friendly. The prices are very good for the most part, although the meat is not quite as high end or fancy as the stuff at the Witteveen butcher next door. read more

This place had the freshest looking meat on my visit to St. Lawrence Market last Saturday with my Mom and Aunt. The Filet Mignon steaks I purchased were expensive ($7.00 each, tax included) but sweet baby Jesus, were they delicious. Only complaint is that the woman who served us, while very friendly, wasn't wearing gloves and proceeded to handle raw meat with her bare hands and then took our cash from us using the same hands she just touched the raw meat with. Eek! I thought maybe she used a different hand for each task, but my Aunt said she definitely didn't and was grossed out from purchasing anything from them. read more

Hi and Good Day to all staff!! I am writing a post-dated review of Uppercut and I bought a fresh turkey. I had it last Christmas and it was the best I bought in years. I might that nothing beats a fresh turkey from the Market. I was impressed by the Butcher's staff and his customers and also all the vendors and many names not mentioned. I am always impressed with the food I purchase from Uppercut. Keep up the great work Mr. Stoyanovski-I hope that is correct. What a treat to shop here and all the vendors. read more

Upper Cut meats in the St. Lawrence Market is my go-to butcher. Right around the corner from my office, they offer a great selection of cuts at very reasonable prices. So why Upper Cut over the other butchers in the market? It all comes down to customer service, their staff are super friendly, helpful and knowledgeable. They will even vacuum-seal your meat for no additional cost, which comes in handy if you are buying to freeze. Here are a couple of my go-to items at Upper Cut: Pre-skewered souvlaki: super cheap and marinated well, my favourites are the beef and chicken. And at $1.25 per skewer, you can't go wrong! Butterflied Pork chops: Super reasonable in terms of price and very good quality. Perfect for BBQing! Filet Mignon: They come in a variety of sizes I tend to stick with the extra large. At $5 each, they are a super great deal. Check them out next time you are in the area. You won't be disappointed! read more

Located in the south building of the St. Lawrence Market, Uppercut Meat Packers is one of the more reasonably priced butchers. Every few weeks when I need to restock my freezer I head to Uppercut Meats to grab the staples like lean ground meat (if you buy 3lbs of lean ground beef they give you a deal!) pork chops, pork tenderloin, chicken. While they don't necessarily have sales like the big supermarkets do, I can always depend on the quality of meat I am getting from this butcher. Their chicken breasts are very large, and I made the mistake of buying 4 when realistically I only needed two. They will package separately if you ask, so consider that when ordering. Another thing I really like about this place is they vacuum seal their meat if you want. They generally will ask if you want it vacuum sealed, but if they don't ask right away and have already packed it for you they will still vacuum seal it if you ask. This place always has an abundance of friendly staff working there and they are very quick to serve you. They are open from Tuesday through Saturday and only closed on Sunday as Monday as per St. Lawrence Market schedule. If you're looking for good quality meats from a butcher you can trust then I recommend checking this place out next time you're at the market. read more

I'm a huge fan of the Kabob prices at upper cut meats. For $1.50 / each, you have a selection of Lamb, Cajun Chicken, Beef, and Garlic Chicken. I highly recommend the Cajun Chicken and Lamb. The Lamb is high quality and lean. When cooked it doesn't have fatty chewy pieces that might turn some off. For the effort to season the Cajun chicken and the large pieces of breast, this deal can't be beat. Grab a tzatziki while you are there to go with the Lamb kabobs, you won't regret it. read more

I but 99% of my meat from Upper Cuts - they are simply the finest butchers in the GTA! Excellent staff who can't do enough for you! The meat is the best quality and I have never found steaks as nice as the ones I buy here. Great prices, they will vacuum seal your meats any way you want in any cut you desire. Not sure how to cook something? Just ask and get multiple, simple instructions! Must tries: Steak (especially rib eye) Peameal bacon Lamb Centre Cut Pork Chops Ground Beef On second thought, just try it all!! read more

Uppercut is my go-to place for steaks in Toronto. They have great prices, friendly staff, and most of all- great steaks. Whether you like a bacon-wrapped filet or a New York Strip, Uppercut is a great place for fine meats. While St. Lawrence Market can be a clever mix of tourist traps, pricey produce that is the same as at No Friils, and other such shenanigans, Uppercut manages to be about selling great cuts of meat to locals over and over again. Also, for a business where friendly service should not necessarily be top of mind, I am always surprised how nice they are here. Even though they may be very busy, I always feel like I am treated fairly, kindly, and respectfully at Uppercut Meats. Most of all, my most recent NY Strip was simply amazing. read more

And, of course, the glorious Du Puy lentils from Rube's Rice (downstairs) that go so well with the smoked pork hocks from Upper Cut Meats on the upper level (they used to have them hanging from a hook up front, now you have to ask for them) and it makes a wonderful braise. If you are a professional chef or amateur, it really pays to make good friends with your butcher. read more

The best meat place in Toronto! The food is great, the staff really know their stuff and will always take care of you. Always fresh, always delicious, and some of the best customer service I've come across. 100% the only place I buy meat from! read more

Another top notch vendor in the St Lawrence Market. While they may not have the highest quality meats available at some of the other booths, they do have excellent quality at more competitive prices. And they make some of the best bacon in the market. Plenty of helpful staff, a large selection of products and they will even vacuum pack stuff for you to put in the freezer. That's why I buy from them nearly every time i;m in the market. read more

I love this place!! The staff are all so cool and friendly and super helpful. I don't have a clue about meat, I once cooked boneless pork chops thinking it was chicken, but since I've been shopping here I've learned a lot about food and meat and cooking. Come with your stupid questions and the friendly staff are happy to take the time to help you out. The kebabs are a great value and taste great, never overly salty. The bacon; oh mah lawd the bacon! My boyfriend refers to this as "real bacon" and we've never gone back to the packaged stuff. Other items I really love from here are butterfly chops, filet mignons and peameal bacon. read more
