She was too much of a princess to get her dinner from a garbage can, or get a shoe thrown at her from a mean old man! Red Wing doesn't have animal control, and all local shelters were full. The foster-based Camp Companion rescue also never responded back after I filled out their online form...so the situation was getting desperate! Last Hope became my literal last hope, responding immediately that they would be able to place her in foster care after being vetted at a clinic in Burnsville. I was so impressed with their communication and caring--I can't recommend them highly enough! They really do have cat class and cat style!

With her help, we were able to find a healthy, happy, neutered kitten (all cats are fixed prior to adoption) that fulfilled ALL of my boyfriend's insane wants. We honestly couldn't be happier. We are exceedingly grateful to RPAW for connecting us with our new wonderful family member. We were prepared to drive from Minnesota to Indiana to bring home our rescue pup. Along the way we were lied to and tricked by two different rescue organizations that were both out of state. I changed my strategy and decided to confine our search to the twin cities area and fortunately came across Underdog Rescue. I'll admit I was cautious and skeptical because of the bad experiences we had, but I knew I had to look close to home. There is just too much risk to drive 10 hours to purchase a dog you have never even met. Coupled with the fact that they know nothing about whom they are releasing these dogs to. That is really a huge disservice to these animals whom have already been through so much. We highly recommend Underdog Rescue, they run their organization with great integrity and they take their responsibility of placing these animals in safe, loving homes very seriously. Every single step of our adoption process with Underdog Rescue was very well organized, with great communication/response time and everything moved along nicely. From the adoption coordinator, foster family, home visit consultant all whom work full time jobs and volunteer their spare time to place these animals in the loving homes they deserve. From my experience, communication has been one of the most challenging aspects. Foster communication takes place primarily through a Facebook group/chat, and I found that some responses to questions or concerns were unnecessarily dismissive or discourteous. As a foster, I believe it is important to be able to ask questions and raise concerns without feeling uncomfortable doing so. One of my most concerning experiences involved being provided dog food that, according to the expiration date on the bag, was approximately 10 months past its expiration date. The bag appeared to have been opened and resealed with clear tape. When I expressed my concern about feeding it to my foster dogs, I was told that it was acceptable to use. I personally was not comfortable doing so, so I purchased food myself and returned the food that had been provided. I have also observed situations involving foster dogs with medical concerns where fosters appeared to have difficulty obtaining timely veterinary appointments. My understanding is that approval may be required before taking a foster dog to a veterinarian outside of the organization's designated veterinary provider. I found this process concerning, particularly when a dog may need prompt medical attention. Another concern I experienced was receiving veterinary-related guidance from individuals who, to my knowledge, were not veterinarians. In situations involving an animal's health, I believe fosters should have clear access to qualified veterinary professionals and should feel confident that medical concerns are being handled appropriately. I understand that rescue organizations have policies, limited resources, and procedures that fosters are expected to follow. However, fosters also have an important responsibility for the day-to-day care and well-being of the animals in their homes. Clear communication, respectful treatment, and timely access to appropriate veterinary care are extremely important. I am sharing this review based on my personal experience and what I personally observed as a foster. I encourage anyone considering fostering or adopting through this organization to ask questions about their communication procedures, food policies, veterinary protocols, and what support is available to fosters before making a commitment. Based on my experience, I would personally recommend researching other rescue organizations as well before deciding where to foster or adopt.
