I tried this place out based on a referral from a friend. I was a little skeptical as I have struggled with my skin for about ten years and NOTHING has worked. I have been on everything from retin-A, and benzoyl peroxide, to oral medications like minocycline, birth control, and spironolactone. Needless to say, I had almost given up on finding anything that worked. I had been finally diagnosed as having a bacterial skin infection and was prescribed with topical antibiotics that seemed to work for a while but eventually probably made it worse. Doctor Mendez was calm and comforting as I explained my situation and assured me that he would be able to help. He took one look and could tell that what I had was definitely not a bacterial infection. His approach is simple. Don't put a bunch of different things on your skin, and don't touch your skin (I'm kind of a picker). It was hard to hear at firs,t since I thought I had all these things wrong with me that were really just a result of other doctors getting too fancy with treatments, and me having too many "surgical sessions" at home. At first it seemed to clear up a little and I kind of stopped going. But when my skin went back to being terrible, I made a commitment to keep going. Now my skin is the best it has ever been. I go once every month or so and get a medical facial and microdermabrasion, which compared to many other places is very well priced. Especially if you go regularly. Unlike some other places that only offer deals to first time customers, Dr. Mendez likes to take care of his regular patients as well as offering deals to first timers. I never feel like he is in it for the money. I truly believe he gets more out of his profession by helping people feel better and look better. He is never rushed and takes time with every patient. (Sometimes a downside if you're in a hurry) but if you let him know, he will get you in and out in no time. His bedside manner is impeccable. I actually look forward to going to see him, even though a medical facial can be a little uncomfortable, he makes it painless.
