AMAZING!!! As far as I remember this place has won pub food…read moreof the year ever year since Ive lived in the area. Super tasty quality food, I noticed that on the menu it even tells you which farm the meat came from, or where the ice cream was made etc. The Greek Lamb and the Gammon are both brilliant. The portions are huge and I'm always left with enough food for another meal but save room for the Holly Bush sundae because you wont ever have a such a selection of tasty locally made ice cream :) The prices are great too, last time I went it was around 30quid for the 2 of us.

The place is a nice old pub with lots of old character plus a newer area. The old part near the bar and fireplaces is charming, comfortable, and has some nice window seating. Beer is focused on the outstanding Three Tuns beers brewed next door. These our simply outstanding beers, and the traditional cask ale s were in perfect condition. This is a huge plus and actually the main reason why we were here. Food is also excellent. We had outstanding lamb and roast pork belly, with trimmings also cooked perfectly. 5 stars. As time went on we decided that we would like to stay and have dinner here but indoors as it was getting cold. There were 14 of us and they managed to fit us into the restaurant area on the proviso we ordered quickly before the 6:30pm booking arrived and one table had to vacate by 8pm. The staff were great and we did not feel that we were being rushed even though some people had starters. A lot of us picked from the specials board and the food came out devine and the service was outstanding. The place was busy as it was the jazz/fringe festival weekend so the clientelle was of all ages (a bit annoying having babies/kids screaming thoughout the meal) including elderly who came in through the fire door for easy access. I would definitely recommend this place which is also dog friendly. This place is soo good that Seasick Steve was playing there that evening and eating his dinner in the pub part as we left.

It posseses open fireplaces, and a choice of cozy tables for 2 or 4, and long tables for larger parties in the back. A huge plateful that would be enough for two! the most reasonable is the Roast dinners, approx £10 a head. The walls and ceilings of the Inn are covered in memorobilia, from horse brasses to farming tolls, there is enough to occupy your mind while you wait for your meal. The staff were all very welcoming, and we were all really impressed with the friendly, efficient service. The menu was full of English comfort foods...and they executed everything beautifully. Just look at my photos to get an idea...I tried the goats cheese and caramelised onion strudel, which came balanced on potatoes and perfect ratatouille. If you ever find yourself in this part of the country, it is definitely worth popping in here for some lunch! *Pro tip: It sounded like they get very booked up in the evening, so ring ahead to ensure you get a table!!
