A fundraiser for the library. If you attend one of these I suggest getting there 30 minutes early because the seating goes fast. The volunteers who work here are delightful and I see tweens and teens here a lot so they are really good at hitting all segments of the community. I mean, how easy is it to get a teen into a library today??? Great job Aston Library.

I also reported the old location closed yesterday, and added tips to announce the new location on both the old and new pages... but then today, Yelp MOVED MY PHOTOS to the listing for the old address. Odd, isn't it? Repeatedly these things happen to me on Yelp, and repeated reach-outs to the local Yelp woman go un-helped. I work hard to contribute to Yelp and it's clear that my input isn't valued at all by Yelp. So this is for the legit users who care about my attempt at helpful content... The new location of Middletown Free Library is now near Wayside Market, and Bortondale, the former Penn-DOT DMV. Currently, you need to look for signs for Roosevelt School, because there is not even a temporary banner of signage indicating that the library is here. When you pull in, make sure to drive to the rear of the Roosevelt School on the right of the school (from the road). Look for the book deposit box, and the entrance is there. Again, signage is still in the works. This is the brand new space, much larger than the old one. I was speaking with the librarian at the circulation desk and we guesstimated that the whole 2 floors of the old location could fit in the ground floor of the new space! But, the new place has a second floor, currently under renovation, so it will be drastically larger than the former space. The children's area is separate from the main library space, with a glass wall to keep sound contained. This was great at story time with Mr. Jason, because the kids had their own place to be themselves. Singing, banging on drums, bubbles, etc. After story time, extra toys came out, and my toddler had a ball. Mr. Jason really gets into his stories, and the kids can't help but become as enthusiastic as he. On the way out, the librarian had chocolates and candy canes to give us, which was so sweet. I took tons of pictures of the new space but Yelp seems to have a problem with that, so you'll have to check the old page for the DOZENS of pictures they moved. I don't have time for the bs anymore.

The only issue is that Google Maps will take you to the wrong entrance (next to the fire station). Instead, you have to take the next exit and drive around. There is a small lawn sign for the library, which is easy to miss, but if you see the school, the library is on the backside, so just drive around. You won't regret it!

It sits inside the also recently built Darley Green Development which make it an awesome addition for the people who live in those townhomes (great idea) but us outside folks are welcome too. The floor plan is very well laid out with clear, bold signage overhead. The DVD is good but a bit awkward to read because they shelve them on their sides so you have to bend your head. This is my third time here and I've only had one problem and that was with a gentleman who refused to let me pay my fine with my debit card because it wasn't signed. He tried to make me sign it with a sharpie. I refused to do that and just came back with cash.

As far as libraries goes, Claymont is pretty solid. It's not a super big library but for it has all…read morethe basics. There's obviously books/magazines, computers, study areas, and even a kids zone. Parking is never an issue when I come here. The staff is really nice and friendly. And it's never over crowded at this library which is a plus. If you live in the area and need a book, some place to study, or a computer then this is the perfect place.

The library is a single floor, with an adult side and a kid side. The kid side has lots of books (of course), as well as toys geared toward younger children, such as a wooden train set and blocks. There is also an open play area for kids to hang out, which mostly seems to attract the elementary school and under crowd. Despite having somewhat limited hours, the library bulletin board is full of weekly activities and classes, like mah jong and arts clubs. I haven't checked out the events, but they seem great if you're looking for weekday activities for people of all ages. Public libraries are an essential 'third space' to foster community and encourage lifelong learning. I was glad to see lots of people enjoying the Rachel Kohl community library on a recent weekend afternoon, and I'll definitely be back.

It really serves little to no…read morepurpose other than as a place for residents of the small town of Marcus Hook to have books or other library items they would like to check out routed from other libraries in the Delaware County library system to a closer location. It's less of a library than it is one large room with very little going on in the way of facilities or selection. The woman who seems to be their sole librarian, though I'm sure she is a very nice person, was fairly curmudgeonly when I visited recently on my first occasion to go in after living here for some time. It felt more like I was interrupting her day than that I was a person whom she had a genuine interest in helping. Your best bet, as I said, is to get your library card, and then go online to the DelCo Library website and find the books you really want. Have them requested and sent to this library and then pick them up and leave as quickly as you can.
