Visited with NP for severe abdominal/back pain. Diagnosed as constipation with advice to drink more water and take a mild laxative, took labs (they do it every visit?) and sent home. Severeness of pain got worse and advised next day by phone to continue as prescribed and come back in six weeks. An ER visit quickly located a kidney stone. So much for obvious assembly line medical care. BTW, who wants to receive care from a physician who says "Hi, just call me Joe" and then wants to change your food choices secondarily to one's medical issue. This place should be called "Double Bogey!" Another Hero to Zero. At first, I went because a friend told me about the wonderful Dr. Martha Alemayehu. And he was correct, top-notch treatment. Sad to say she left, and it has been terrible since. I was passed off to a NP and while her interest seems genuine the administrative operation of the office is a DISASTER at best. I was to be referred to a Neurologist and that is when the end was near. First on a separate note there were issues with getting insurance approval for a different issue that was affecting my knee. They sent me for x-rays, said I needed treatment, and they would get approval. Never got back to me on that issue. Back to the Neurologist. I was told a name and number and if they did not contact me withing a few days I should call them. I did not get a call, so I began trying to contact them. The Neurologists office phone kept giving me a recording announcing the voice mail system was not available. After multiple attempts I called Up2Par. Their assistant said she would follow up with the Neurologist. She called me back and said she reached them without problem, and I should call again. I got the voice mail system is not available message again. I called Up2Par and she said she would try while I was on the line. This time she got the voice mail not available message. Next, I was referred to Up2Par's scheduling office so I could speak to the lady who would be coordinating the referral. That was a disaster. She spent the better part of the call explaining why the issue was happening such as the doctor that I am referred to does not like voice mail, so the office does not use the technology. After listening to all her excuses, I told her I was unsure about using the doctor they recommended. So, between the multiple missed communications, it seemed after an extreme number of phone calls and mounds of frustration I had an appointment with the Neurologist, and an appointment to check some issues requiring an ultrasound of my chest. Still at this time I am not sure about my knee. Now I receive a form letter with the boxed checked stating and I quote, " We cannot live up to your higher expectations. Due to that, we encourage you to find another physician." Amazing they have a FORM letter that you check the box stating they cannot meet expectations. Apparently, they do that often! read more

I've been a patient for several years. I always went to the golf themed office on 8th Ave. I have never met Dr. Smythe. My first PA was Amanda S. And, I loved the way she treated me. But she left. Then I was passed along to some less than stellar PAs. Care was bad, bad, bad. I now have a person whom I like. But they have moved to the Foothills Office. Now my story. The quality of care has suffered. It's not personal, I'm no longer cared for. It's conveyor belt care. I'm processed. If something is wrong they don't diagnose, they send you to a specialist. I'm trying to get a medication refilled. I took the forms in for doctor's approval and dosage. It's been two weeks and it hasn't been taken care of. When I took the forms in I emphasized that it's time critical. A week later I called. It hadn't even been looked at. Now, 2 weeks later, still nothing. This is not the fault of my physician. It's the medical assistant. Incidents like this have happened several times, because it's not part of their conveyor system of care. I suppose I should look for another Doctor, but change is hard. I don't like driving out to the Foothills Office anyway. read more

I love my doctor Gompert. The staff is friendly, the wait times are low and they are on top of your billing. No unexpectant money surprises I recently had to move to Tucson and the care here in the city is horrible. I use to see UP2PAR for all my medicines and since moving to Tucson the doctors have made me reinvent the wheel and I've seen 3 different specialists and they have changed my medications 3 x. Since moving to Tucson I have lost 3 days of work because of appointments, no longer can sleep, and have been in terribly distress 99% of the time. UP2Par was changing my life and now I'm a mess. It amazes me how a system of doctors can make you or break you. Keep what your doing but I do ask for one thing. If a patient has to relocate try to network to a group of possible doctors to check out in their area. I would have even paid you if i knew anything about the doctors here in Tucson. read more

If you have complicated internal medicine regulated conditions, do NOT go here. When K. Gompert (I hope I misspelled that.) began to alter my medications without consulting me it began to bring back symptoms that had been subdued. She's doing this without even thinking of the five specialists that stabilized my condition over ten really painful years. These doctors know politeness, but they are not their smiles. For a good time, go and read the racism they hung on their wall. When I asked them not to change my medications without telling me, they slit my throat and they said I "missed an appt" months ago, and that's why I'm not allowed to be a patient anymore...what coincidental timing. Very poor service. Front desk is rude. Doctor refused to fill my routine medication on phone. Say they have to come in person to fill my medication. I know this is to bill my insurance. Very poor service. Dr Smythe is very rude and told me I was fat and needed supplements to lose weight. He tried to sell me supplements when I did not agree and I DID NOT NEEDED. I normally dread going to doctor's offices due to long wait times and sometimes rude staff. I've had a very pleasant experience at Up2par, staff is super friendly and accommodating to the patient's needs, don't have to wait months for an appointment, and most important the providers are knowledgeable. LOCATION & PARKING: The location is right in the middle of town, so it's perfect to get a few errands, before or after my appointment. The parking is right up front, not far to walk. HOURS: The hours are great , because I can usually work a full day and still make it to my appointment without taking any time off of work. SERVICE & EMPLOYEES: There is the main Doctor and two Physician Assistants. The Physicians Assistants even have aids assisting them. When I came in, everyone from the minute I stepped in the door, till I left, were very friendly, attentive, and "prompt"!! I was assigned to Amanda S. and I am very happy with her (and her aid, Ana). When I told them what issues I had, they were "on top of it"!! They performed several things right there in the examination room! It was wonderful and I was very impressed. I would usually have to drive to several places to get those things taken care of! ATMOSPHERE: It is very new, up to date, clean, and fresh. Starting with the waiting room to the examining room. CONCLUSION: I am a technology junkie, so I was happy to find out I could look up my records online, request an appointment, request an medication refill, even message regarding a general question. All online! They usually get back to me in UNDER 24 hours. I am very amazed. Even with the occasional telephone call that I make, they get a response back to me soon.
