I was outraged when the Blockbusters next to my house closed down and yet another Tesco's was…read moreopened in its place. I had grown extremely fond of the strange people that worked there, like the man that recommended Final Destination 2 to me and described it as "very believable." I ranted and raved, then I moved to Stoke Newington and I wouldn't be seen dead in Blockbusters now, even if it was still open.
The Film Shop is my local video store now, located on Church Street and specialising in independent, art house and World cinema, it fits perfectly into the smug atmosphere of designer card shops and organic, free-range food shops. It's been open for about twelve years and the staff are friendly and knowledgeable.
Its very reasonably priced, the other day I hired fairly recently released Darjeeling Limited for four nights and it only cost £2.50: bargain. However it is best to check that your selection is in stock before arguing with your boyfriend and then setting your heart on it, because unlike Blockbuster, they don't have those huge blue and yellow stickers to tell you that Final Destination 2 is unfortunately unavailable.
