Not only did they have a ton of vinyl, band tees and movies on display, they had an impressive selection of really great books at super reasonable prices. I ended up picking up a copy of A Clockwork Orange and American Psycho on the cheap - something that I've been wanting, but now had no excuse. There are multiple floors to explore. Being a Japanese-only manga and bookstore, this place will mean little to most people - including myself. But the set-up - floor to ceiling bookcases creating a mini-warren of Nihon literature, anime and periodicals - is worth popping in to for the experience alone - very 'dépaysant', to borrow a phrase from across the channel. Its a second hand Japanese bookstore, within an ex-launderette, and with karaoke rooms in the back! I can't say much about the bookstore, but everyone else seems thrilled with the selection there. What I can vouch for are the karaoke rooms in the back! I can't quite remember how much it costs per hour, I think it undercuts a few of the major chains. Reservations require a deposit up front (I believe you have to go to the store to do this). The rooms are really cramped, but what better way to spend time with a bunch of people, screaming at the top of their lungs, than to be squished up against one another?? This place is awesome for a number of reasons: - good selection of English and Japanese songs - BYOB (they have a mini bar fridge for you to keep your stuff cool, and there's a Co-Op around the corner) - You can bring your own snacks and hot food, as long as its nothing too strong smelling Definitely one of the best finds I've stumbled into!

The employees are not stuffy and they don't bother you at all. There is a wide array of new and old stuff here. I found a lot of Adventure Time and Bravest Warriors, to my delight. Many times I have been confronted with rude staff, wrong discs in boxes and non functioning items. Whenever (and whatever) you trade in to sell for cash, they usually do not have the cash on site, leaving you with a 'credit note' in order to buy bad quality items. The staff are very poor. On more than one occasion the staff swear in front of their customers and most of them had no idea what they were doing. Their attire also had a lot to be desired as most of the men wear casual clothes and the women very little. The casual clothes not being too much of a problem, but makes it hard to distinguish which is a customer and which is a salesperson. I have given Cex, the Derby shop, I 1 star out of 5 due to its terrible service and lack of care to the customer.

W.E Lane Books also had an impressive sale selection. I found the Modern Jewish Girl's Guide to Guilt reduced from 15.99 to 5.99. You look around and see Penguin Titles mugs and 5 pounds of the Mighty Boosh Book (not sure if this is a desirable book to acquire or not, you decide). Their sale/discount section is one of the best I've seen. It's a couple of shelves near the back, and one right under the cash counter, but they're not the typical cheapo books you see in those sorts of bins. The location has two massive stories of wall-to-wall geeky joy. Books, action figures, art, video gaming goodness; it's got it all. I appreciated how everything was very well organized (largely by pop culture features/brands). It was so well organized that I didn't need to actually ask for any directions or help finding stuff.
