    Different levels of climbing

Saw Up The Bloc on Groupon and decided to give bouldering a try with my sister a couple of weeks ago. This was our first time trying "bouldering". The deal included unlimited climbing, rental shoes and chalk. My sister and I signed the waiver online, I definitely recommend doing this as it saves time. There aren't any lockers but there are change rooms and washrooms. There was a short orientation as it was our first time going there and there are different level of climbing. It's a small place but I think it's something fun to try out with friends or your significant other. Bouldering can be challenging but it ended up being a fun weekend.

My expert rock climbing friend convinced myself and 2 others to come here, it took a lot since we were thrown off by the fact that there weren't harnesses! However, Up the Bloc was truly an amazing experience. We had a quick 5 minute orientation on how to boulder, fall (on mats) and figure out the difficulty of rocks. Since we didn't have gear, we paid an extra $5 fee for shoes on top of the $17 full day pass, which wasn't too bad for the amount of fun it was. For someone who hasn't bouldered before, but rock climbed 2 or 3 times, I didn't feel embarrassed or alienated by the experienced climbers who were in the building. They all cheered us on and helped us a little when we couldn't find footholds or handholds. The only mini-con we found was that it didn't have a big sign showing the name of the location, we almost missed the unit! Definitely recommend if you'd like to experience bouldering in Toronto for a few hours. The facility was super clean, and they were still putting in a couple rocks/boulders so go now while it's new!

I've been to 2 other rock climbing places in Mississauga (are there anymore?) and out of the 3, I would place this second place. It looks like it's a newly built facility strictly for bouldering. Entering the building, the waiting foyer/reception is huge and beyond that you'll see the bouldering walls. The lighting is white and it was very bright. Can't comment much on ventilation here since we came here while it was 30 degrees - sweating buckets! I recommend to sign a waiver online before you arrive; it saves time. Plus the iPad touch pad Is a little weird and isn't as sensitive. There's a change room/washrooms/water fountain and a mini snack bar that offers granola bars and more drinks to quench your thirst. We came in a group of 12 and probably stayed for about 4 hours total. At the very back there is a mini gym. You can prob get a decent work out in too. Before climbing there is always an orientation and explains the rules for this place. I really enjoyed my time here and I would def come again. Come with a big group!

It was interesting! I need to come back with out my 3 yr old. I thought he would like it but he's still to little. But me on the other hand found it interesting because your just climbing side to side not really up but I guess that's why it's called bouldering. Next time I will try their 1 week intro package, I still had fun.

Best bouldering gym in Mississauga! Great atmosphere, fun climbs, nice people! Wish they opened up a little earlier during the week though.

Make sure to click the email confirmation link. The gym is bouldering only with 2 large walls with climbs rated by a numbering system. The holds still feel really new so prepare to lose some skin. I did see that they have bandages at the front if you do get cut up. In terms of amenities, there are cubbies for your belongings, and a coat hanger for jackets. They also have the fancy water refill stations that you see at the airport. I was really impressed with the setting. I'm a pretty average climber but there were lower level climbs that were still interesting and not just up and down ladders. It keeps things interesting. The owner, Brian, came over once to check on me during my climbing session and to get feedback which I appreciated. I also confirmed that well-behaved dogs are allowed in the gym!

Chris was working reception when we arrived, and he was incredibly helpful with shoe rentals and for tips while trying different climbs! He was very friendly and was efficient in giving us a quick rundown of the gym. They even have a wall where people can take a climbing break to draw pictures and make requests for specific climbs. I will definitely be returning to climb again!
