My complaint revolves around my credit request for a mistake their Fort Myers FL office made in billing me for a personal training charge ($260) while my account was on summer pause. I put my membership on pause effective in May until my planned return to mid-October. I called their office manager (Connor) to request a credit on that $260 training charge explaining obviously I could not have personal training while my membership was on pause. He informed me that LA Fitness does not give credit regardless of the circumstances. When I explained that it would have been impossible for me to get training while my account was on pause, he acknowledged my logic was correct but reiterated that he was not allowed to correct the mistake. I also contacted their corporate customer services department to see if they would resolve this matter. But they too said they would not issue a credit. Logically it does not seem to be good business practice and certainly not good customer service and just further reinforces the negative impression people have in general about the fitness business. I have since cancelled my membership and am pursuing all efforts to get my bill corrected.

Unfortunately corporate LA Fitness neuters and handicaps them and their staff after the renovation by having literally 1/2 the machine equipment they had previously. But 8 cage stations. Crazy. I mean - for sure the FGCU students use it, but this area is not called God's Waiting Room for no reason! What's with the lack of equipment??? I'm sure it makes the job more difficult for the staff too because many members say the exact same thing .... (I now go South to Naples which too has a great staff and manager (Paul!) to work out and go only to Ft Myers for cardio or a quick visit.)

The only improvement they've made is changing the lights to bright white. The only reason I still have a membership is because it's 24/7, but with another 24/7 gym opening soon, I'm hoping it finally puts this place to rest because Amped is on life support. The staff clearly doesn't care anymore, and that's a direct reflection of management. I came in with a simple question and was completely ignored. My last straw was today when I scraped my leg on a rusty nail sticking out of the sauna bench and ripped my workout pants on it. This gym used to have promise, but when the wrong people are put in charge, everything eventually falls apart.

I showed up to the facility about 10 minutes early and was taken care of immediately. Facility - huge compared to my home location. I was given a tour after signing up and besides the size, the facility was clean and well maintained. Trainers - Kira and Erin were both awesome. They were motivating and were coaching folks on form if needed. I really liked the resistance bands added to the row machines and the exercise dice at the end added a nice twist to the class!
