I am a registered nurse that works graveyards and I am constantly on my feet and using my body a lot, the stress of the job is mentally and physically exhausting. I love what I do but I need to help myself in order to help my patients. I woke up from a busy shift from yesterday to sore muscles, aches in my joints and just overall exhaustion. I went in and the place smells so good and relaxing, the salon is kept clean and has a refreshing and calm atmosphere. The staff are very friendly and wonderful and treat you with compassion and care. They don't try to upsell you or and are honest. My message person today was Bella, she was so kind, caring and is amazing at helping me with my care. She went over all the oils they have with me and and the options they offer. My boyfriend and I were in the area and made the best decision ever to stop by for a massage. I badly needed one with the amount of tension I had in the neck and shoulder areas. They kindly accommodated us even as a walk-in and we did a 60min massage. Note they are doing a summer special for $15 off if you pay in cash. We got a room for two. The staff was very attentive, asking us if there were any areas we wanted to focus on and pressure level upfront. The woman massaging me was great at checking in every now and then on pressure level and making sure I was comfortable. Even at the last 20 mins, she made sure to check in with me if there were any other areas she wanted me to focus on. A huge thank you to Unthai my knots! Because I recently had surgery and if it wasn't for them speeding up my recovery I don't know what I would do ! It's located in Glendora on Route 66. It's located in a big shopping center so parking isn't going to be an issue . Service is on point I have no complains And for the infrared sauna it's 35 bucks for 45 minutes and they give you complementary water with cold towels as well. You do have to call in advance because they have to heat it up 40 min before you arrive The cold plunge was 44 degrees and it's 15 bucks for 20'minutes and you have a private room for yourself ! After looking for a good massage place in the Azusa/Glendora area, and being put off by reviews of staff loudly talking throughout the massage to one another! Incredible! Ignoring the patrons for minutes at a time to get supplies which should have already been in the room, trying to sell annual "memberships", cutting massages short by up to 15-minutes, etc., I was getting discouraged. And then I ran across Unthai My Knots. Their reviews were almost all overwhelmingly positive, they appeared professional without being obnoxious, and having put up with shoulder/arm pain for too long I decided to take a chance and book a 1-hour session with them. I arrived about 10-minutes before my appointment, spoke with the young lady at the front desk (who was actually my masseuse) for several minutes about the issues I was having, then she saw me to my room. After giving me a couple of minutes to get ready she knocked on the door and actually waited for me to say, "Come on in!" and then she got to work. We went deep, and it WAS painful at times, but it was a good pain that felt even better once she stopped. Not a critique, just the facts of a good massage. It hurts, but it hurts so good. I'm not sure if she started a few minutes after the hour, but it was a few minutes after the hour when she wrapped everything up, so I definitely felt like I got the hour that I booked & paid for, and not a 45-50 minute "1-hour" session. And as I write this, I'm definitely feeling a lot better too. If you want a really solid, deep-tissue massage where YOU are the focus of your masseuse's attention, this is the place to go. UPDATE: Mrs P and I booked a "couples" massage, which was really just us booking massages at the same time. Although as we couldn't figure out how to do that on their website, short of making two individual appointments, I contacted Bow and she set up both appointments in their system. When we checked in, Bow asked if we wanted a room together, we said sure, and so it did become a proper "couples" massage. Bow took care of Mrs. P, while I got manhandled by Sam, and once again it was a great (albeit painful) experience. What I really liked was Sam and Bow concentrated on us, their clients. They did NOT constantly chat with one another, something you may read in reviews about other salons (but NOT UnThai My Knots) when two or more therapists are in close proximity. Mrs P agreed it was painful, but Bow was attentive and relented and eased up on the pressure when Mrs. P tapped out. My massage therapist was Cathy and she concentrated on my problem ideas which were my neck, shoulders and lower back. She put a lot of pressure into the massage which I appreciated. We called to make an appointment for 2PM and understandably, the masseuses were booked. The receptionist was very friendly and accommodating. We ended up booking for 4PM which was definitely not a big deal. We got there 5 minutes before our appointment and the receptionist asked if we wanted to add on any other services, like hot stone and essential oils, and we declined. She then asked what type of pressure we wanted. It ranks from light, medium, and hard. I wanted medium and my bf asked for EXTREMELY hard. I went with a 90 minute massage and picked cupping for my free add on. You get one when you book either a 60 minute or a 90 minute massage. I was torn between that or the use of CBD oil. Was even willing to pay for the extra add on given how much pain I was in. I liked that Sammy assessed my back when we started and that he said cupping would help more. Bella you are a heaven sent!! Her techniques are very intentional.
