Though the address says it is on Getreidegasse, it is located down an alleyway off it. It is a longtime Salzburg confectionery as it was founded in 1880. The shop has a delectable selection of sweet treats, including pastries, cakes (individual and slices) and chocolates. They also serve coffee drinks and have a good amount of seating if you are dining in. I loved this place so much that I visited it twice in one day for breakfast and an evening dessert. Their hazelnut pastry is something I still crave and think about. And make sure to try their sacher torte if you love chocolate cakes. It is clear why this business has stood the test of time. The quality of their products and the service here is great.

I tried their chocolate cake and a cheese streudel cake -- both were good. Not earth-shattering delicious (1 star off), but good cakes to share with a friend over a cup of coffee. The ladies who run the shop are lovely; they are like the grandmas that you wish you had!
