Class schedules are often released late, and there have been multiple instances where teachers forget they have a class leaving students to track them down. There's a serious lack of consistency in policies, especially regarding testing. Some students are allowed to make up quizzes, while others aren't, with no clear explanation. What's most frustrating is that I'm paying $62,000 for an education that falls far short of expectations. Many of the instructors are unprepared or know nothing about the material. It feels like the school is more focused on enrollment numbers and NCLEX pass rates than on actually educating its students. That seems to be their main concern is staying in business. If you're considering this school, I strongly recommend looking elsewhere. You won't get the education you're paying for or deserve.

Back to school after 25 years…read more CNM follows my model of it's the same thing, only 10 times cheaper. Point of reference: UNM. Hilarity does ensue though. Apparently, for some of my exams I must purchase my own scantron at the bookstore, 25 cents. I bought a parking permit which generally means that I put $3.00 in a meter if I can find one even if I come 40 minutes early for class. My other exams require my laptop to have a working webcam and microphone, I've spent more time trying to learn the technology than trying to learn the material so far, which has been voluminous. I have the books in downloadable form, and then I bought the hard copies (it's incredible they won't bind a $100 book) and then I have my notes from class. I am not sure what I am doing, but it's taking 3-4 hours a day after classes. They do not know who they are dealing with. I am magna cum laude from NYU, surely I can get a B if I can make enough flash cards. I've scored a 40% on my first exam, as I wasn't sure what the instructor was getting at and I hadn't examined the right handout. I am giving CNM 4 stars because there needs to be a place to get an associate degree or the first two years of university or prerequisites for a master's that is reasonably priced, especially if one is not working.

The instructor told her she was out of luck and would not be allowed an opportunity to finish the exam. So, despite passing grades she will now fail the final and the course. I have seen several reviews similiar to mine and plan on doing everything I can to file a complaint with the VA (she uses VA benefits) to get this school blacklisted so they do not screw other veteran families out of their benefits and money. Not a single person at this college cares about students. They only care about making money and it's disgusting!

My message to anyone considering attending this school is to first consider your options. The amount of money you pay for tuition does not correlate to the education you receive. Former instructors did their best to provide us with quality education but fell short due to unorganized administration and selfish owners. Your education is important. Just don't waste your time here…read more I very much value the education I got while attending SUVA, and yes that is a contradiction to my first statement so I'll explain. The instructors at SUVA while I was there were some of the best, and as I understand it now, all of them are gone and the school is reaching out through craigslist in order to hire new staff - no teaching experience necessary. I will admit I had a few teachers while there who were inexperienced but generally they were only employed there for a few months as student reviews were done at the end of each semester. It seems they no longer operate this way and run their basic curriculum off of a high school curriculum book that can be ordered from amazon. Which sadly may have been the case while I was there too, however it has just come to light along with many other unsettling issues. SUVA advertises high standards and a tough course but you will not get the kind of education you will ultimately pay for and you will probably end up with 100k + in debt. I graduated from the school two years ago, and it was not until a large group of students pulled together recently to file complaint after complaint that the school finally released my updated billing statement. And when they did so, they released it with four other students statements, to another student without any of our consent. As far as I can tell the staff member who did this has faced no consequences what so ever for violating student privacy. They have yet to send the statement directly to me or any of the other information I have spent the last two years asking for. As they will not release my diploma to me while they maintain I owe past tuition. However, they had initially told me that my loans, grants, and scholarships were covering my tuition in full and that I even had a credit for $5,000. Which of course disappeared and then I received a bill for over 22k. This was about a year before I graduated, and it still has yet to be fully resolved. But in order to fight the claim that I still owe tuition as I had been told that I didn't need to be making any additional payments I am personally responsible for proving there is something wrong with my account and SUVA will not release my file to me so that I can compare my documents to theirs. Because it has taken so long and they are unwilling to work with me, as well as countless other students, and because of many other issues such as keeping students listed as enrolled long after they've left the school (yes I am still enrolled full time and I've reported it to my creditors but as usual nothing can be done unless the school reports it) I can only conclude there is something horribly wrong going on with student finances at this school and I will probably never see the diploma I worked very hard for. Lastly their job placement program is nonexistent. They very rarely help students get placement in jobs after school, and any referrals they do get are from instructors or "friends" and are often just people looking to exploit student workers for rates under what the school teaches you, you should charge or get for your work - "Don't undervalue your self or those in your field" - rather than actually give anyone a real job. This was also the case with myself and I was "placed" in an awful job right out of school that I was later let go from as it turned out to be seasonal, which was not mentioned by either the staff at SUVA or the business when I took the job. So yes, the skills I learned there have benefited me and I appreciate them, but at this point I feel they aren't worth the amount of loans I took on or this mess I've had to deal with since. So seriously save yourself the headache and don't become another victim of this for profit school. I have spent countless hours emailing, calling, and even contacting the New Mexico Department of Higher Education and The Better Business Bureau and all of it has gotten me nowhere in dealing with this school. As they still, after two years, refuse to send me any information or even acknowledge my attempts to get in contact with them. If I had known in the beginning how untrustworthy and underhanded this school is I would have taken my money to a school that really cares about their students and their futures. I've been taking Real Estate pre-licensing classes from UNM Continuing Education and, so far, I'm…read morepretty happy with it. Their courses can be skills enhancing (for example, computer classes, healthtech or language classes), practical (like the ones I enrolled in which can count towards Real Estate Licensing exam qualification), enriching (like some fitness, hobbies, personal development classes) and helped me (who's been out of education mode for a long time) focus on learning again. Some of my classmates mentioned though that for UNM prices may be a bit higher than other institutions in NM, but UNM is probably the best institution in state and the quality is likely better than other options in state as well (I have no basis to judge their statements however). There are quite a bit of variety of classes for you to take and the costs aren't too bad either (plus, if you are a UNM employee, I think most those classes can qualify for UNM tuition remission as well). So far, I've been quite satisfied with the classes (most of which are conducted virtually due to COVID). I was hoping that there's a bit more selection for live classes instead of online courses which it's a bit hard to self-motivate myself to study though! But overall, not bad at all!

It's not my fault I actually did go to college, seems like they don't like transferring credits in ( less money for them) so they basically told me if you want your credits to transfer in, you'll have to sit out and not take classes until we find open classes for you. They told me it would take 6 months! Bull! The point of having transferring credits is so I could've finished faster not wait 6 months for them to accept my credits and take more advance classes. The students here are nothing short of ex-paroles, hoodlums and people who will not actually graduate. This school is a joke. They know their student body isn't capable of more so they offer a hour pep talk from the dean in your class every Thursdays in class. He sells his shpeal to you and says how important you are and how you WILL amount to something. Nobody takes this school seriously. Every student misses class and they still pass! But don't show intelligence, the professors hate that! They don't like the smart people and favor the lazy absentee ones. If you do get a class, you will get one of their generic teachers. They change your teacher every month after telling you that you would have another one. The whole administration is incompetent. Their main deal is to take your money, all they see are dollars walking not students. I am glad I only took two classes and then transferred out. For almost 40k for a worthless degree that you can't even transfer to other colleges but their sister colleges. And don't ask them if your degree will transfer, all administration is set with the generic response, "it's up to the college you're applying for if they accept your degree or not." They know it will NEVER transfer over to a reputable college so they are predisposition to say that. Don't apply here if you actually want a degree to transfer to a superior college. For a degree that will only serve as vocational training, the money isn't worth it.
