I have a…read moregenetic condition/connective tissue disease called Ehlers-Danlos syndrome (EDS) I was diagnose in 2010, 5 years after my life began to dramatically fall apart. I displayed many symptoms my whole life of EDS but of the many doctors I saw throughout my life consistently assured me that my symptoms (dislocations, severe bruising/hematomas, chronic migraines, problems & pain digesting, reoccurring infections... Too many to list but you get the idea) When I finally got my diagnosis of EDS it became painfully obvious that no doctors knew what EDS was let alone knew how to treat me... I had been diagnosed with fibromyalgia, chronic fatigue, gastroporiosis, all of which are comorbid conditions of EDS. For years after my diagnosis I was treated systematically with pain pills, stomach pills, pills for fatigue (amphetamines) all of which made my life so much worse... I pleaded with doctors to help me find a way off the pain meds and they just kept upping my doses saying it was my only option and trying to convince me I was depressed ... When I met Dr. Papel I was on morphine 3 times a day, norco 10mg 6 times a day, Ibuprofen 800 4 times a day and no my pain was not managed! No my fatigue....On a good day I was struggling @ 50% Dr. Papel told me about a medication called LDN (Low Dose Naltrexone) she explained to me how LDN works and she helped me to get off Morphine and drastically reduce my Norco & Ibuprofen 800's I take both maybe 2 times a day!! And now with LDN on a good day I am @ 80 to 90% it's been years since I've woken up without pain, nausea, or fatigue and I honestly can't say when the last time was I remember being able to function at 100% but my life is at its best thanks to her and I am actually thriving now not just struggling to survive. I realize this is just a review but it's taken me months to find the right words to say about this Dr. Papel I only met 8 months ago when I started this review but it has sat unfinished for well over 2 years now, and even though this is long winded all I really want you to know is she will help you if you give her the chance, she is a doctor but truly the only healer I've ever met and believe me my search has been extensive totaling over 20 doctors and countless specialist! I am grateful beyond words... She is a brilliant woman! I've had to leave her due to financial issues but I will make my way back to her as soon as I can. I will miss her.

There were two very big issues I had with acupuncture; not the acupuncture itself which did ease stiffness the in my knee but, it then slowly came back about a month later, no, just the fact that for one, I really do not like to be touched by strangers and second, needles of any size make me queasy. My doctor then suggested I look into trying Reiki. I found several places in Oregon that caught my interest, one type of Reiki in particular called "distance Reiki" sounded best to me since again, I do not like to be touched. Reiki, in general, is normally a "hands on" therapy I gather? I found Falling Waters Reiki almost a year ago in a Google search. I did a lot of research before contacting anyone to find out if "Distance" Reiki is even a valid thing. Falling Waters Reiki stood out to me because I didn't have to book a session in person or on the phone but was able to do it through her website. Wendy was very thoughtful and very informative when I emailed her several questions before I decided to book a 3 month service through her website. She was very detailed in all that was going to happen and spent way more time interacting with me than I expected her too. She even followed up with me a few days after the first session and I wasn't expecting that. Since she specialized only in "distance" Reiki that worked out perfectly for me. For the first few weeks nothing seemed noticeable with my knee then about 4 days ago I realized I hadn't taken any pain medicine for an entire week. I have literally lived on ibuprofen for the last two years for various "pains". I understand that results for holistic practices can vary or might not work at all as was explained to me. However, thinking about it, the same can be said for ALL types of medicinal therapies and treatments not just holistic ones. Sometimes even "traditional" therapy and medicine simply do not work, I am proof of that!
