I recently moved out of state and saying goodbye to Charlie, Julie, and Unleashed was like saying goodbye to family. My dog Bowie went to Muttasori regularly for years and Charlie was SO helpful working with my irregular work schedule. I LOVED taking my dog to "daycare" as he would visibly get excited every time we got near Unleashed. Tears were shed on both sides when we left. Never received my refund which I was promised years ago. Charlie also tells new owners ridiculous things like they should not walk their dog every day because it builds energy and you should not have a routine but change things every day so your dog does not know what to expect. Ask any other trainer and they will tell you your dog needs routines to build on and Dogs have Energy already they need walks to expend that Energy not the other way around. If you're an experienced dog owner, you know the thing she tells you does not make sense. For new dog owners that will really mess you up. I've asked other dog trainers about the things she says, and they are baffled. read more

I am writing this update just 1 month after my initial review because we have seen such leaps and bounds of progress in our dog over that short time. If you have a reactive dog, but are unsure about the AMP program (for price, or any other concern) let me quell your fears: IT IS WORTH EVERY PENNY. Due to COVID, our social interactions/guests have been limited to close family since we adopted our dog. Before we started AMP, our dog would bark at and chase our in-laws whenever they were around, the entire time we were together. He was anxious and stressed by a thousand things in the environment. We have been doing the AMP program for about 2 months, and for the past 1 month, it's like we have a different dog, in the best way!!! He has been exposed to the family crowd twice in the past month, and both times, NO BARKING. NO CHASING. My dog was able to focus on me, take treats, and follow my commands. He was able to settle and relax around the family--even get some pets and give some kisses! He even tolerated their dog coming into our house, and did not bark, and quickly settled down. He is way more confident and is now making progress with even more new people and new dogs. read more

We have two dogs both rescues. We inherited Sophie from my father-in-law. Sophie a beagle basset mix had been returned to the shelter two times before she was adopted by Paul, we are her 5th owner. We tried to bring Fiona and Sophie together, nine months into the new arrangement we had two unhappy dogs (two miserable owners) and an expensive emergency vet visit. We were ready to give one of our dogs away. We contacted Charlie; she told us it took nine months to get to this point, it would take a year or more to undo all the harm. We are ten months into our training and having wonderful results. Training two dogs is a big commitment of time, money and love. At one point we overpaid quite a lot of money. Charlie offered to refund our money or put towards more classes. Of course, we took the training. We are so grateful to be working with Charlie and her amazing staff. read more

My husband and I decided to take a puppy class at Unleashed after getting a Lab/Boxer mix with LOTS of energy. We signed up for a 6 week course for $140. Our instructor was Charlie Reinhart. She is a great teacher, and was amazing with all of the dogs! Week one consisted of an orientation where we were given a great handbook on all the skills that would be taught in class, including some helpful hints and bonus exercises to do at home. It included demonstrations with her own dogs, and we were given homework to start before our first class. Each class began with the dogs relaxing on bedding which they provide, and a question and answer time for owners. Usually the skills given for homework the previous week are then worked on, with each dog and owner getting a lot of personal attention from either Charlie or her assistants. New skills are then introduced, and homework is given out. The classes are kept small. We had 7 dogs in our class, with one trainer and 2 assistants. We were really surprised at how much one on one attention we got in a group class! The final week is graduation, where an obstacle course including all the skills learned are included. The dogs were also surprised with very nice graduation gifts! The price of this class is a real bargain for everything you get! Besides training in a fun, positive environment, you will learn about which kind of collars or other equipment work best for your dog, nutrition and exercise, and socialization. Unleashed also offers private training at your home, which we took advantage of. If you have a new puppy, or even an older dog I would highly recommend taking a class at Unleashed. No choke chains, just positive reinforcement and a lot of fun! read more

We LOVE Unleashed! We trained, boarded, and Muttassori'd here and my dog could not have loved them more. The training is excellent and the staff are all great! I have only been to a couple classes due to my busy schedule, but I can't begin to explain how awesome this place is! Especially with their recent move into the bigger building, Unleashed has really wow'ed me! Even for the couple of classes I went to, I learned so much to help me and my dog out. The levels that your dog must pass are extremely well organized, and there is no time limit on how long a dog needs to pass a level. It's a very casual atmosphere, and they don't make you feel bad if you dog is insane (like my pitty mix, haha!). Charlie makes your dog feel special, and is extremely knowledgable in what she does. I highly recommend this place to anyone who is looking to train dogs of any age! read more

I started my australian Shepherd puppy at unleashed puppy social classes on Saturdays and she loved it so we moved on to the puppy training classes with Charlie(our trainer). Both myself and my puppy have learned soooo much through her classes and what i was not able to understand with my puppy, Charlie would show me, with my puppy, so that i was teaching her the correct way. I love how this class is made to be fun, not only for my puppy but also for myself. I also love that the way of training is not to "MAKE" your 4 legged friend learn to sit or stay but is is the dogs choice, they make their own decision. We (myself and Delilah) have since been STAR puppy tested through Unleashed for AKC, we have just completed the Look who's walking class, we have done some agility classes and went on a wonderful Rover Walk through town at Christmas time. Charlie took my $375 for 12 training classes +private consultation 1 on 1 with my puppy, but I quickly realized she was so difficult to get ahold of to actually schedule the first session with her. I regret signing up for their services and now cannot get a refund for services I never used. Customer service is so severely lacking with Charlie and her staff that I needed to write a review to help others avoid dealing with this business. If you enjoy not getting replies from phone calls and e-mails and like hearing excuses for why you are being treated that way then this is your place. If you value your time and money and enjoy being treated with respect then avoid Charlie and her business. read more

Unleashed is as good as it gets with dog training and daycare. Julie has been looking after our dogs for over 10 years and we followed her to Unleashed when she started here. The staff at Unleashed will care for your dog as much as you do and we have an awesomely trained puppy to show for it. For what it is worth, I witnessed the Sandy L. situation first-hand and her kid was awful to the puppy. I agreed with the re-homing idea and was impressed that Charlie stood up for the dog because that kid has no business being around animals if only to abuse them. Charlie's suggestion was in the best interest of the family and animal and something needed to be said. The behavioral problems were created by poor treatment at home. Charlie, Virginia and Julie are the best. They go out of their way to make classes and behavior consults, fun and engaging for your dog while in a safe environment, but also highly educational for you. I know my dogs are truly loved and valued there, and this means the world to me, since I have a fearful/shy dog that has benefitted immensely from taking their outdoor Levels class every Sunday. They patiently answer every question, no matter how silly, and they have taught me how to have so much fun with my dogs, it has made our bond stronger. We were very unhappy with the customer service at Unleashed. Because we didn't finish the classes in a timely manner (we were not given an expiration date for them.) we were asked to not sign up for classes anymore. We were offered a verbal refund by the owner Charlie. But she never followed through. That was 3 months ago. My dogs have since turned one and are no longer considered puppies. I just got a call at 7am this morning from the owner of Unleashed, ranting at my husband about what she believed was a bad review from us on this site (Yelp). We did not leave the bad review (until now) The reason she believed it was us is because she kept our $375 for training (as others have complained about here) after we tried unsuccessfully to set up an appointment with her required "consultation" before we could attend the actual classes. We were given her name by the Humane Society who we adopted our puppy from with an incentive of a $100 fee reduction. She was very difficult to reach. She didn't return calls for days and would make a lot of promises but wouldn't do anything but blame us for not reaching her and accusing us of missed appointment that SHE cancelled. Our relationship ended after a phone conversation of her yelling at me on the phone about how I wouldn't get my money back because "she doesn't give refunds" and she would email a response to my question about how I could still get some training for the money. It has been over a month with no response from her (other than the ranting call this AM), The point here is that the one who is hurt by all this drama is our puppy. We can't afford to spend more money on training right now and Unleashed will not refund our money or give us the training. Please, my recommendation is find another dog trainer. I would go to Small Claims court but who needs more 7AM phone calls or who knows what other kind of punishment for disobeying the dog trainer? read more

My dog just loves coming here! We started sending him to day care once a week to socialize him more with other dogs because he was so shy and nervous. Now he is great with dogs of all sizes and gets so excited when we take him. He just loves Charlie to death, and probably likes being at "school" (as we call it) more than being home with us! read more

Our black lab, Brody, has been a part of the unleashed family since he was a pup. Charlie and Julie & all the staff have been a big part of his upbringing. We are grateful to have had them on board to help us raise him (muttassori & levels) and we still participate in the various classes from time to time. Raising a puppy the right way takes a village and that is what they provided for us. Brody is well behaved, polite, SOCIALIZED and I actually have a dog that comes to me when called. The trainers at Unleashed! have changed the life of our 5 year our Lab so much for the better. Despite appropriately raising Ernie and socializing him to other dogs, taking him to puppy classes, etc. he is afraid of new dogs. Charlie and Virginia enrolled Ernie in their AMP Program. AMP is a wonderfully intensive course that transformed Ernie, and me. Within a matter of weeks, Ernie went from barking and lunging at dogs A BLOCK AWAY, to being enrolled in a group class at Unleashed! and calmly participating. For AMP, each dog is assessed individually, as each has its own set of issues and strengths. No cookie cutter one size fits all program here! Let me say, not all dogs at Unleashed! have issues, not at all. But if you have concerns, this is the place to go. Also, to address the Jan. '13 review about the puppy. Unleashed! clearly and repeatedly states in all its information that all clients must first attend an Orientation Meeting. This is standard protocol for any training center. I am so sorry that the puppy owner was put off and decided not to attend the meeting. Lot's of important information if offered. I find the trainers quite respectful of the clients. Charlie tried to get me to re-home my dog. Each class I attended that's what she told me, repeatedly. He was a puppy, I took him to to be trained, and they failed. Instead of training my dog I was told to re-home him. I didn't re-home him, continued to attend behavior training classes here, hoping to get issues with my dog worked out. Issues I noticed began around the time I started bringing him to Unleashed. I took him here for at least 6 months. I decided to purchase one of their packages for $300. Shortly after I purchased the package one of the trainers Julie, screamed at my dog during a session and did something physically to him that caused him to yelp over and over like he was in pain. I didn't see what happened, I just heard and saw after how my dog was acting. I had never seen him like that before, and haven't since. Not feeling comfortable enough to continue training with Julie, I spoke with Charlie and asked for a refund since I wasn't going to use the whole package I purchased. She said she would refund me the money. She didn't believe me that Julie yelled and possibly hurt my dog, but would refund me for the amount of the package I purchased and wouldn't use. That was ages ago. I have e-mailed, called, even seen her in person and she has yet to refund me anything. This business is as shady as it gets. They don't know how to train animals, and they do not conduct business properly. Ignoring and lying to me, their client, has led me to write this review and I will tell anyone I can about the shady business practice that is Unleashed Dog Training. read more

Unleashed and Muttassori saved our dog, Hazel. We had no idea what we were getting into when our puppy arrived. And while we love and adore her, she is not easy. We brought her to Unleashed for training and Charlie, the owner, immediately saw that our dog was very fearful of people and gave us a whole toolbox to help manage her fear and our own sanity. Charlie and her fantastic, well trained staff took the time to make sure we were comfortable with Hazel throughout our training. They often found us a special out of the place way to work with her (away from the other very nice people), gave us tips just for our fearful dog, and helped us understand her better so we could take care of her in a variety of situations. Not only that, but now Hazel has a home away from home at Muttassori. She loves other dogs and gets to spend hours with her favorite playmates in some very positive playtime experiences. While at Muttassori, Hazel might do a puzzle, learn how to roll and unroll a yoga mat, greet human visitors (a major feat for her!), practice her recall (she can stop and turn on a dime now - if she wants to) and gain an abundance of much needed confidence. We are extremely fortunate to have found Unleashed, for Hazel and for us. Our other dogs have benefited from training at Unleashed as well. The positive approach, helpful insights into how a dog thinks and how we can use that knowledge to improve our relationship with our dog, thoughtful attention to each dog's personality and tendencies, all delivered with a healthy dose of humor is what keeps us coming back. I definitely don't doubt the skill of the trainers here and their knowledge but rather their lack of professionalism. I was impressed by the play area and handed a card by one of the volunteers. Over the phone Charlie seemed to know what she was doing however, in person I was not greeted well at all but rather looked down upon. She looked at me in disgust as I showed up to the puppy playtime she had told me to so eagerly to bring my dog to. Instead of being friendly and helpful she quickly brushed her hands of me. As I walked into the building it appeared that the only people being treated nicely were older Caucasian ladies. I had followed Charlie's instructions to appear that day and yet she spoke to me in a very judgmental way. Clearly I am trying to do well by my dogs by coming here for classes however there was no friendliness from her instead it was attitude. Everyone else was quiet as she critiqued and discussed my dog and later her employees spoke to me to discuss further options. Needless to say I will not be coming here again after being treated like I don't belong. It's better to pay more to go elsewhere than to not be treated like a human being. No one should have to feel horrible for trying to do something good. read more
