Good experience! I had my hair colored and cut this morning as well as an eyebrow wax from Ashley and have had a very pleasant experience. I wanted to go from a dirty blonde (my natural color) to a more platinum color and Ashley came up with a plan for my hair. Since the ends of my hair had been color treated before, she decided to do color and then lighter highlights. She did a good job in a short period of time while simultaneously attending to a pedicure while my hair color processed. Ashley did an excellent job cutting my hair and my eyebrows look amazing. Unfortunately the color didn't follow our plan. My "virgin" hair, the natural roots, didn't take the color and lightener like the rest of the hair, leaving my hair with brassy, yellow-gold roots. When I voiced my displeasure, Ashley immediately offered to add more highlights. I knew she had another client waiting so I agreed to go home and let my dogs out and return in 45 minutes. I'm returning shortly and am pleased with the service. There was no way Ashley or I could have predicted my hair would behave in this fashion. She handled the adverse color reaction with professionalism and maturity and I intend to continue to visit University Stylists in general and Ashley in particular. read more

I have been a patron here for years and the staff, especially Jess, are amazing. They wax, do hair, nails, conditioning treatments, extensions, eyelash tinting, and put feathers in your hair. There is also tanning on site. It is close to IUP and the costs are reasonable. They have free coffee too and lots of current magazines to read. Clean, comfy, and nice. I asked for an ombre color and what I received looked like the ends of my hair were dipped in dye and that's it. There was no gradual change in color or blending whatsoever. The stylists also kept talking to each other about going out and getting drunk. Would not recommend this place. read more

Well, I went to get my manicure today and lets just say it was not very enjoyable. I have had a lot of manicures in my days and I have NEVER had such a painful manicure in my life! She was very rough when pushing the cuticles back. I was never asked if I wanted my nails trimmed and she never trimmed them, which when you go for a full manicure...you kind of expect to have the nails trimmed...I mean seriously, what is the point of going. When she applied the clear nail polish she was very shaky and quick...needless to say, after all said and done with and $40.00 lighter, my nails look worse than they did going in. I have hang nails and frayed off cuticles, which again, I assumed these are suppose to be taken care of when you go in for a manicure. The clear nail polish that she applied has air bubble specks and looks wavy and not in the least bit smooth. I could do better than this at home and I am not a "professional." Finally, in EVERY manicure I have EVER had it was included to have your hands warmed with a towel and use and exfoliation scrub...however, here I was charged an extra $5.00 for her to use a cheap exfoliation scrub and to take a towel that she used to dry my hands off with into the bathroom and soaked it in hot water...that was my warm towel wrap! LMAO! This was the worse experience I have every had, I have never walked out of a manicure with my nails hurting and so disappointed. I have paid $15.00 for a manicure that was a 1000 times better than this one and would have gladly paid $40 for that manicure...I would not have even paid $5 for these manicure. I am half tempted to call and speak with the manager about this, because paying that much I expect to have a nice nails. I will NEVER go to this place again! Also, I went to their website to look at what they had to offer...it was me and my friend who wanted to go and she wanted to get acrylics and on their website they say acrylics full set are $36, well when we got there we were informed that they have not done acrylic nails in over 2 years. Seriously, do you not think that it is time to update your website after 2 years!!!! Just very disappointed at the whole experience and not happy paying $40.00 for something that I could have done better at! just finished getting my hair done here and I couldn't be more happy! been struggling to find a good place for a while and this is it. I got a partial highlight with a cut special for 65. Heather was my stylist is she did an AMAZING job. salon is reasonably priced with a super accommodating and friendly staff l wasn't sure what I wanted and Heather was super helpful and honest. Went in for a partial highlight and left with bright yellow streaks that didn't even reach my root also had a bunch of blotches from where the foil leaked. This was also two days before a holiday. When I talked to the manager she was rude and pretty much blamed me for not saying something before I left but it was uncomfortable with the hair dresser being right there. She refused to refund me anything at all and hung up on me. I have heard they have some good stylists but the way they handled this situation was really unprofessional and rude and the hair dresser i got stuck with should never be allowed to do highlights. I have never experienced anything like this before. At the end of it all i had to beg my hair dresser at home to squeeze me into her schedule and fix my disastrous hair. When all was said and done i spent a total of 170 dollars on something that should have only been fifty. I will never go back and all of my roommates and friends saw my hair and are too scared to ever go there. read more

Will not recommend to anyone. Walked in for a simple military haircut with a picture of what I wanted. Barber said that's easy my husbands in the military so I know how to cut hair, I replied ok sounds good. So about 20 minutes later while she was babysitting her kids while cutting my hair I had steps in my hair , bald spots from her inconstancy with the trimmer, and every time I told her to fix something I got attitude like I'm being picky, we'll miss thing you should know my hair has to be cut to a standard that's why I asked if u could do it before I let you cut it. Then she said you can see everything doing with a haircut when your hair is blonde, hint , hint lady you're the professional so wouldn't that make it easier to do a good haircut? Well anyways I won't be back and will recommend to all my friends and family to not waste their time or money at this place. Hope this helps everyone looking for a good haircut this isn't the place.
