I have used University Painter numerous times for several projects costing over $20,000.00 per job. i always had a wonderful experience with exceptional quality work and the team always left the project site in a professional and fabulous manner. Then I contracted for a project recently (August 2024) and I have learned that all franchise owners do not manage their teams in the same manner i became accustomed. The most recent project was completed by Matt Wingate's team and besides missing a few spots unpainted, the team poured paint down the toilets, sinks and did not properly protect the floors, spilling paint on the floors and leaving if for me to arrange for clean up. i could not believe the pouring of paint products in the sinks and toilets of my home by a licensed firm. What a mess see a few of the pictures. Paint poured into the waste water lines and trash as well as paint splashed on wallpaper. I saw that University Painters were offering free estimates via Yelp. I reached out and was hoping to get a price on an exterior painting job and possibly set up a visit to do a walk through. I then took and sent photos detailing the project, did some measuring, gave contact info, the works. No reply. Called up and nobody answered. Before giving up I tried again because quite a few people said they did a nice job. Sent another message and also got no reply. Not even a response saying, "sorry we're not available", which would be the courteous thing to do. In my opinion this is not a serious company. Three contacts and nothing. If they can't even bother to reply, how can they be trusted to paint your house? read more

This was terrible. Stay away, they painted my house the first time and didn't clean the paint properly underneath so the house started peeling. After repeatedly contacting Tim to tell him the house wasn't painted properly he sends the same guy back out who AGAIN does not clean the paint off properly and it's still peeling. We went to put up shutters for the Hurricane last September and that's when we realized it was not done correctly. I reached out to Tim again but after I sent him my photos of the proof he never returned my calls again. I have yet to get the issue corrected and now my house is peeling. I ended up filing a report with the BBB and he never even responded to them. Tim started out to seem good but ended up being just as bad as the painter. Stay away. So I found UP via Yelp of course while on a hunt for painters to paint the exterior of my home. All of which I found right here on Yelp. After numerous quotes I decided to go with the first quote I received which was from University Painters. While it took me some time to finally give UP an answer they remained patient along the way. And by a "while" I mean like two months since I was having issues with my HOA. Finally after all was cleared, I immediately scheduled my apportionment with Tim, company owner, who was nothing but very helpful. The painting day finally came and I met the three guys that would be working on my house bright and early. They were all so helpful and truly went the extra mile. Avoid being scammed!! This company is not trustworthy. University Painters was contracted to paint 'two full finish coats' on my house. Everything was going fine, until a few days into the job, their foreman flat out lied to me that he completed the second coat of paint that we contracted for. How did I know he hadn't done a full second finish coat? Quite simple. The evening after they sprayed the first coat, I walked my entire house and put tiny markings with a pen in random places all over the walls. So by plain and simple logic, once they came back to paint the full second coat, then all my pen marks would be covered by paint. Unfortunately, not the case! After asking if, and the foreman repeatedly telling me, he fully painted the walls (which he didn't) I knew he was being dishonest. I asked for the owner - Tim Spencer - to come to my house and showed him the multiple pen marks still visible on nearly every wall. Tim said flat out "I'm not going to paint your house again" and that he felt his crew had put enough paint on my house. Sorry Tim, but your contract with me clearly stated two full finish coats, so your opinion about how much paint your crew used is completely irrelevant. The foreman eventually conceded once he knew he was caught in a lie that he only spot painted a second coat in a few areas. University Painters ended up doing a 'rough' second coat and discounted the job. They did NOT leave us as a happy customer. Instead, they left me wondering how many unsuspecting and trusting customers were scammed like we nearly were, and didn't get the second coat of paint they paid for. So beware! I would not recommend this company. But regardless of who you use for your paint job, feel free to use this simple technique to hold painters accountable so that you have a better sense that they actually did give you that second coat of paint they charged you for. read more

I hired them to remove popcorn put up knock down a and paint all my rooms except for one. The ceiling came out great because they used a subcontractor. They had dry wall workers come in to fix s wall that was damaged , the fixed a wall and removed my screen for the ac return , the return opening is now filthy and it clogged me ac filter which caused my ac to freeze over and cause a flood in my garage, the painters are sloppy and don't sand there sparkle prep work, they damaged my newly glazed tile, they removed wallpaper from another wall in the bedroom. They told me they would skim it and when I did the walk through he was textured to my surprise. At this point I just wanted them out of my house . By the way the dry walkers stole my LED lights but the company did cover the cost. Contracted this company on the strength of their Yelp reviews and the graciousness of the sales person, Mark. I had not budgeted so highly for the painting, but I wanted it to be done professionally, and it was a whole interior job. The quote specified wall repairs and spackling included, as well as drop clothes used (this house was built in 2010 so it's not an old home and the walls are in good shape). The crew took two days to initially finish the job. No drop clothes were used, and there is paint all over my floors, toilets, bathtubs. No wall repairs or spackling done initially. Severe drip marks on many walls. They left nails in the walls, and just painted over them. They painted windowsills and then closed the blinds so they stuck to the wet paint and left terrible marks. They did not adequately double coat many areas. I will say that the lovely painter they sent to try to rectify these issues, Darwin, was excellent. There is still paint all over the floors and the toilets and bathtub, but that man should really get a medal from this company. Kind, gracious, and detail-oriented. The original crew should not be working professionally, in my estimation. For $3500 it was not entirely worth it. I could have gotten one of the men sitting outside Home Depot and saved myself 2K. But their sales person was very good, and their last painter was excellent. Maybe the Broward painters are more professional than the Miami-Dade. I would not even give this company one star but this is the only way for me to leave my rating and opinion. The workers were rude and had an attitude immediately. They missed spots and after pointing it out to the Forman, it was never touched up. The second coat of paint on the interior is horrible, streaky like it was a quicky! Paint on the counters and floor. Just really sloppy workmanship. The outside also had touch ups that were never addressed and they left an incredible mess! I closed on my Royal Palm Beach house on Friday and Samanta came out and provided a quote to paint the entire interior of the house (3 bedrooms, 2 bath, living and dining room and kitchen) including ceiling and trim on Saturday. Got one of those dreaded notices from the Home Owners Association which stated "your house needs to be painted" and one always shudders when one gets such a letter in the mail! I quickly called up my trusty old friend and adviser "YELP" and the name University Painters popped right up in front of me and I called them and got a call back from Ali who immediately took down the address and details on the phone and sent me a quote which was a tad high as compared to the one my neighbors son's friends uncle's friend had quoted us and so I called up Ali and faxed her the quote and she immediately matched it. What was really amazing is that they sent a team of 3 folks out and had this 1600 sq ft home painted completely in 1 day! YES that's not a TYPO in 1 Day! They did come the next week and touch up a couple of spots. I was very disappointed in the University painters because when the gentleman came out to paint the fence he really didn't have a good understanding of how many coats we needed. Instead of going up and down through the whole fence he went across on the top and you could see that he went across on several of the boards plus he missed a few spots and had several areas of Dripping paint which my husband had to fix. He had to go back when he said that the job was done and buy more paint and we said no you have to put another coat on so I think there wasn't great communication between whoever was in charge and their worker The company for me was not impressive read more

I needed to get my house painted and I got some estimates that were all over the board. I looked on Yelp(which I should have from the start) and chose University Painters to paint my house. I met with David on a monday and gave him a sample of my paint and a deposit for my job. The workmen arrived the following tuesday and pressure cleaned and sealed the house. That was left to dry for abot 2 days and they returned, taped off all my windows, sealed all the wood and windows and put the primer coat on. They broke for lunch and started in again painting the house completely and that included the white trim. The house looks wonderful. Its clean and bright and sharpest house on the block..okay maybe its not the best on the block but it sure looks great to me. Numerous neighbors stopped and asked for their cards and commented on how nice the house came out. I am hghly pleased with University painters!
