I do not write reviews lightly, in fact, this is only the second review I have written and my first…read morewas extremely positive. Unfortunately, my experience with this company requires a cautionary account. My move took place on Nov. 25, 2025. I expected two movers who would conduct themselves in a professional manner, demonstrate knowledge of the task at hand and treat the client with basic respect. The two movers that arrived were young men in their early 20s. Prior to hiring this company, I specifically asked the Manager whether her movers wrapped the furniture and I was assured by her that they did. However, on the day of the move, it became clear that the crew did not understand or follow standard professional moving practices. My furniture was not wrapped or protected; instead, I was told that blankets would be placed on items only after items were already on truck. They were not. The movers were very dismissive and rude. As a woman alone, I felt very uncomfortable speaking up further. This experience reflected a lack of professionalism, preparation, and respect for the customer. Their conduct made an already stressful day more difficult than it needed to be. During the move, furniture damage did occur. After weeks and repeated calls on my part, I was eventually offered monetary compensation. While the amount was nominal, I am grateful that some recompense was finally made. My purpose in writing this is not to be punitive, it is to warn potential customers and to encourage this company to improve. Particularly, in how their movers interact with clients. Skill alone is not enough; of which they had little, but that professional demeanor and respect matter. I sincerely hope this feedback is taken seriously, as it would go along way toward improving the overall customer experience.

Having managed several successful small businesses myself, never before have I experience more…read moreunprofessionalism in my 20+ years of experience. First, their response time for getting back to you with a quote is horrible. And when I finally received a quote, it was not in writing. Second, when the day came for them to move me, they showed up late with a truck that was falling apart. Parts of it were rusting, one of the rear tires on the double axle was flat and hanging on the rim, the gas tank had a piece of plastic stuffed in it to function as a gas cap, and the truck failed to start when they tried to back it up to the storage unit. When the employees called the owner, he cussed a blue streak on the phone and hung up angrily. When he called his employees back again, his attitude was less than professional. The movers themselves were talking about how the truck was unreliable as well. They informed me that the owner would be there in 20 min and I told them to call me when he got there. The next call I received was not from the owner but from the moving crew that had been talking about how unreliable the truck was. I asked them if the owner brought another moving truck or trailer, and they informed me that they had managed to start the truck and were ready to move me. I told them I wasn't comfortable with them using that truck, to which they replied, "F^&K you then." The owner failed to call me at any time to inform me of what was going on or how he planned to complete the move. As a result of their poor customer service, I have now incurred additional storage fees. As a result, I cannot in good conscience recommend this business.

First let me say BUYER BEWARE! As I searched for movers I found the cost to be nearly $2500. Until…read moreI came across Rockford Family Movers. They were nearly half the other quotes. I asked why and Steven said that they had little overhead and were a local family company. I did some research on yelp and google and found every review at 5 STARS!! They are definitely NOT 5 STARS! We tried to support local while saving a few bucks. Don't do it. The movers showed up in a U-Haul, not professional looking at all, just 4 guys one of whom was the owner Steven Eisenach. They took a crazy amount of breaks. Every few minutes was a smoke break. I had to ask them not to smoke in the truck while loading our furniture. Plus they threw their cigarette butts all over the yards and drive ways. In all it took over 10 hours for a 3 bedroom home to go 10 minutes away. After the move we noticed many dings and gouges in the furniture and other items. During the move I noticed a gouge in our downstairs oak door and pointed it out to a mover. I got a shoulder shrug and a "wow! thats bad." After the move we had to repair and paint many scratches in the walls at the old and new home. The worst came as we unpacked. I left my garage tools to unpack last in order to get the house up and running. When I finally got a chance to unpack the garage I noticed many tools missing. I ended up losing many hand tools and some power tools. I have a 4'x8' peg board normally loaded with tools. Now it barely has anything at all. I am finding more tools missing every day. I did reach out to the movers via email and voicemail and have had no response. My wife did some more digging on the company and found a few things. She found that Steven reviewed his own company. And with as many 5 star reviews we believe that most are friends or family. She also found 1 Google review saying pretty much what we say above. They had a couple of tv's go missing. Makes for an interesting read. https://www.google.com/maps/contrib/112013538562282514718/reviews/@42.329958,-89.0485609,17z/data=!3m1!4b1!4m3!8m2!3m1!1e1?hl=en-US And finally, my wife found a news article on Steven Eisenach. It claims that he was arrested for stealing over $17K in jewelry while working for another moving company. The two 5 star reviews that this company has must be from family…read more I moved back home to Illinois when I learned I am terminally ill to be nearer family. I have cancer and a severe heart condition. And this situation nearly did me in. We stored our belongings in storage until we found an apartment. Some history about our "sawdust furniture" as Terry from Wanless called it after damaging some pieces. We had a beautiful home, the best furniture , jewelry etc. money can buy for almost 30 years of our marriage. But then life can change quickly for ANY ONE of us. My husband was diagnosed with cancer. After battling this horrible disease for years he was finally diagnosed cancer free. But out of pocket medical bills had taken every monetary thing we had. We felt so grateful to God for Him sparing my husband, we vowed that "things" would never be something we would waste our money on again. Our furniture looks nice but it's cheaply made, and when you're not hard on things it lasts. When I contacted Straightline Movers, they sent out Wanless. Terry was obnoxious, rude and disrespectful from the moment we all met at the storage unit. We overlooked this as we felt it had nothing to do with his ability to do a good job, so we just avoided him letting them do their job. Once at our apartment he informed me the price for the move had doubled even though I had given them a very accurate guess at the weight of our items. He also lied about the weight saying it was 6,600 lbs when it was only 5,900 lbs. When I asked him to explain this he became angry and insulting. I decided since many items were still on their Penske rental truck I would again avoid him until they were done unloading it. While unloading they damaged some items including putting all of the weight on the back legs of a hutch breaking them badly. Terry reluctantly attempted to fixed them but badly. The hutch leans and may tilt and ultimately tip when items are put in and on it. He didn't care. Fast forward to them getting done. Terry came in with paperwork for me to sign. I was expected to sign something that said I had inspected all of my stuff and it was all intact and no damages. NOT TRUE! Another said various items were not hauled by them or they couldn't haul it. Again, not true. Then Terry became irate again demanding that I sign it. I refused and his anger and maladjustment issues become even worse. He began yelling at the top of his voice, effing this and that, threatening me, up in my face, and I lost it. I shoved his paperwork towards him and told him to get out of my home. He refused and continued yelling and threatening. I refused to pay him but said I'd pay the other owner, Tim. But wanted him to leave now. His anger reached a boiling point and he literally got two inches from my face yelling for me to "HIT HIM!" three times! as my 77 year old paralyzed husband tried to calm him. He told my husband, "He had better get his wife under control", and that he didn't ALLOW HIS wife to act this way". He went on to pretend to call the police to have me arrested but called the person on the other end of the call, Kerri. I grabbed my phone and called 911, at this point he left the apartment but stood in the hall yelling. Eventually knowing police were on their way he went outside and stood by the truck glaring up at our apartment. My stress level was so high at this point I felt like I might collapse. We finally left as they still stood by the moving truck refusing to leave. We went back to the hotel we have been staying at and I called Tim. I have every intention of paying Tim, but not the amount they increased it to, and also deducting for what Terry put us through and the damages done. My advice would be to contact, Two men and a truck or College Hunks if you need local movers. This company is dishonest, bullies, liars and very hard on your belongings. Rhonda Collette
