We had to call another company to fix the unit that was only one year and 4 months old. Diagnosed as a freon leak from an installation mistake. We paid several thousands to have it fixed. I reached out to one of the owners, Cory via email. He wrote back to apologize and said he would do the right thing. That was to reimburse us. I thought, good, they will make it right. No reimbursement sent and he has not answered my emails. So disappointing that they are not an honorable company. I cannot ever recommend them.

I had questions about rebates for heat pumps and he had answers about rebates, rough costs and advantages of the new heat pumps. He reiterated that we didn't need to change out our current equipment but if we feel it's important for environmental reasons there are good options. We'll definitely be using them going forward, and have a fall furnace checkup scheduled.

On the first cold day this winter he claims the heater is all rusted out in the exchanger and has to be replaced, along with the entire system because a new heater can't work with an old air conditioner. Our neighbor suggested we call their guy. He's been in business for 30 years. Needless to say, the heater was not rusted he showed me the unit was very dirty, the fan motor and wheel were clogged with dirt and there were two dead birds in the chimney. The outside air conditioner was only 10 years old. I'm convinced SK had never done anything other than collect their fee and try to sell stuff we didn't want or need.

My unit was leaking and the coolant used in it is no longer being manufactured (due to environmental reasons) so the only feasible option was to replace it. It had basically been running primarily on the elelectric backup heat this whole time. At least the new unit will be more efficient (rated 16 SEER) versus my old one (rated 10 SEER). The federal minimum nowadays is that all heat pumps need to be rated at least 14 SEER. Replacing the furnace is expensive, but I felt comfortable with Davis Modern throughout the whole process. I met with their sales rep, Jim, who is actually an engineer by trade so he was able to answer all of our technical questions about the equipment. Jim is friendly and easy to talk to, and he didn't try to oversell us any products or services. We decided on a Armana brand rated 16 SEER which came with a 10 year warranty overall and a lifetime warranty on the outdoor compressor. He also presented a 14 SEER model (cheaper) and mentioned more expensive models with higher SEER ratings - but that the 16 SEER model is the most popular and bang for your buck. On the installation day, two technicians came to our house and they worked the whole day from 8 am to 3 pm without stopping for food or water! They were very friendly, professional, and courteous. My electric bill BEFORE the new heat pump was about $400-$600 a month in the winter. I'll update my review after a few months to compare my new electric bill.

They were low pressure and presented me with exactly what was best for my place, not their commission. On the day of the install 6 people arrived working on the outside heat pump and the indoor condenser at the same time. They arrived at 8am and were done by 3pm. I live in a condo on the second floor and the AC is located in the ceiling. In spite of all the dirt and debris, the hallway was immaculate. They even wrapped the condenser with two layers of insulation so it would not sweat and damage the ceiling tiles.

However, the boiler is defective. Every week or two we have to reset the boiler as it keeps shutting down. The boiler heats our hot water. They have replaced parts and nothing works. In fact, they replaced a part on Monday and in two days I had to reset the boiler again. We just had the AC replaced a year ago. It is not working as of today and they can't figure out why as of this review. Let me clarify, that the techs are good people and seem to know what they are doing. The customer service is very responsive. The quality of the products is another question.
