Unity Studio - Double piercing and cartilage - Tattoo Near Me - Valparaiso, Indiana

Since the owner likes to delete all the honest bad reviews on other websites, I'll leave it here too. If I could rate this place a zero star I would. These people are scammers, if they see you don't have any tattoos they quadruple charge you because they know you're uneducated about everything. Unfortunately they took advantage of me and charged me nearly a grand for a 200/300 piece when I didn't know better. They also make you sign an insane contract. And milk you of all your money with any charge they can think of. Of course read it. But unfortunately if you're younger or haven't been tattooed you don't know this isn't normal and that they are preying on you. (My case). The deposit of course which was over $200 for a small patch tattoo. One minute late? Charged. Though my artist was nearly a half hour late. (They don't follow their own contract but I guess it's fine. Also they don't let you in until they are ready so get ready to freeze or melt on the little wooden bench as you're forced to wait outside.) Change in the template when you don't get to see it at all beforehand anyways? Charged. Reschedule? Charged. lol. Unfortunately if you are new to tattoos/getting tattoos they take full advantage. On top of that my artist specifically, Mal, completely changed the lettering and the design of my tattoo. And for my tattoo, the piece was designed specific to be a replica of something, an item, not a different tattoo or artwork. I got there and he said this is the tattoo.. I said, why did you change it? He said, well this is easier for me to do. So essentially, he changed it without asking because he was lazy and refused to change it back. At that point I had put so much money in. I didn't wanna lose any more because I would've been charged for changing or canceling. The tattoo is basic at best. I also had to go to a different artist to get the lettering redone because Bro didn't even go deep enough for it to stick. I was much too uncomfortable to go back. I also didn't want to be charged a fee for their mistake which I'm sure I would've been. The tattoo, totally lop-sided and misaligned. You would think a beginner did it or that it was freehanded. Thankfully, I found a different place in the city over. I got a tattoo three times the size with crispy lines and it's actually what I wanted for about half the price. Would never recommend this place ever. All they care about is money! read more

I was very nervous even after following her work on social media for what seemed like an eternity, but she was so knowledgeable, kind, and skilled that all of my fears were laid to rest during the consultation. I had a really great experience with Benji. I went in for a consult regarding reopening the second hole in my one ear lobe and getting a helix piercing. Benji was very friendly and helpful with placement and options. He had the time to clean out the second hole piercing and do the actual helix piercing, so we went ahead and did them. He has a great technique and combined with his expertise, the piercings went quickly and as painlessly as possible. The helix piercing is super cute! They have a very good sterilization system and everything is clean and comfortable. I will go back to Benji in a heartbeat and will highly recommend him and Unity. read more

I had a terrible experience with Unity Tattoo. I had to wait 3 months for my appointment because they are "booked" that far out. However, the entire time I was in the studio the owner sat in the lobby playing on her phone. When I asked to see the design ahead of time they told me I had to wait until the day of my appointment. Which made it appear they wait that 3 months and do the design on the day of my appointment. After I got my tattoo the design and color was not what we discussed. I am now stuck with a tattoo that I don't like. I had been told such great things about Unity and am very disappointed in my experience. read more

In the past 4 months I have gone to unity for nipple piercings, and two tattoos! my experience every time has been my favorite experiences out of my 10 tattoos, everyone is very nice and friendly and I feel comfortable every time. I had an appointment with CiCi. I was told to put a $100 deposit down for my first visit. At my first appointment I wasn't happy with her sketch, so she refused to do work on me and I lost my deposit and was asked to give her a second $100 deposit (which I did) and rescheduled my appointment. At my next appointment she did my outline of flowers which are very large and cartoonish. Not happy and not wanting to loose another $100 I went with the outline. I was told that I COULD NOT USE MY DEPOSIT UNTIL MY LAST VISIT. She charged me $130 for the outline. NOW IM IN $330 for an outline and NO color. Needless to say I'm cutting my losses. I hope this review helps others not to loose $100's of dollars. I even spoke to the owner who defended her staff. I was NOT composited in anyway YOU LIVE AND YOU LEARN. I wish I had known about this place before I got my tattoo and piercings elsewhere. I had a bad experience with another shop, and Malory removed the piercing and cleaned my ear up for no charge. It's really nice to know they actually care about their customers! Definitely coming back for my next tattoos and piercings! Went in yesterday to have my left nostril pierced and service was amazing! The worker helped me choose my jewelry and let me know what size would fit best and answered all of my questions (I didn't catch her name ). Benji was my piercer and was the best. He made sure my new piercing lined up perfectly with my right nostril piercing (it looks amazing) and was so friendly and very knowledgeable. I believe it was his second week or third, but he's a great addition to Unity! This was my second piercing done there and is the only place I will buy jewelry from. I went to this shop for a nostril piercing but they didn't have any of the jewelry. when i first walked in the regulars were staring at me like i wasn't supposed to be there or i was interrupting something. also, denise was very rude. i left my information with them to call when the jewelry came in. 4+ months later they still haven't called . asg ink is definitely the better place with cheaper prices & nicer employees! read more

I had an appointment for a very simple tattoo on my forearm. The appointment was made in September 2018 and I was told Mallory's first availability was Tuesday, January 22, 2019 at 1pm. I waited, though a good friend of mine with a bigger tattoo than mine was "squeezed in" back in October. I have pictures of both to prove that! So Jan 22 arrives and I have taken the day off of work, unpaid! Low and behold, Porter County schools call school off early that day at 12:25, of which I clearly had documented evidence and was all over social media! After school care was also canceled. This announcements came at almost 11am. I reached out to Mallory. I was very understanding about her cancellation policy. I was not asking for money back, simply another time ASAP to go because I would now have my children. Clearly, I could not take my children to the studio. As the wife AND daughter of small business owners, I was very respectful of the fact that policies are in place to avoid lost wages. I paid $60 in September for my deposit. She said my tattoo would only run about $75-$85 TOTAL. So I owed her far less than I already paid. Long story longer - I could not make the appointment that day so I lost my $60 deposit. She did tell me she could "squeeze" me in on Friday Jan 25 during the day because she just so happened to have a cancellation OR in the evening. BUT I would need to pay another $60 deposit. I absolutely get it if I just frivolously canceled. I had NO way around this and she knew that. Again, all documented from all Porter County schools!! Poor business. I would never pay twice was I was supposed to because it was impossible to get there with my children on a day all schools out here were canceled early. I had no warning or after school care to send them to! Absolutely ridiculous. Good thing there are other talented tattoo artists. read more
