Knowing the long waits (and possibly financial challenges) of a visit to the ER I instead opted for a trip to the Same Day Care Clinic. I was pleasantly surprised! From the friendly greeting at the front desk to the very professional doctor who decided I was even sicker than I felt, I was in and out in less than an hour. I left with a nice set of instructions for my own care, and when my symptoms worsened two days later I returned and was (again) treated with empathy and understanding. Oh, and a prescription for strong antibiotics and bedrest! It's nice to know we have such a facility here in Bham, and that there's another option besides the ER when things are urgent but not to the point of dialing 9-1-1.

I waited on hold in the parking lot for 45 minutes before someone told me that the clinic was full until closing time (3 hours) and that I could come in the next day if I was concerned. It was annoying to wait, on hold, before being told that I couldn't come in. I wasn't especially concerned about the positive test, having had vaccinations and a booster. I probably won't follow up, but I wonder, if nothing else, about statistics. Did no-one want to 'count' me?

She's also been helpful with referrals to other providers, like cardiology, imaging, and sleep. It was ultimately approved, and I still wasn't told; not by Lisa or Mt. Baker Imaging. It wasn't until many months later that the NEXT providor caught it. The pain during this time increased until I could barely walk. They appear to care, but much falls through the cracks. Patients would be best advise to check their providers work for thoroughness and accuracy. Especially if you have a large patient file. They don't review the entire file, maybe the first few pages at best. They've cared for me since 2016, their providers last anywhere from 12-16 months. The assistant who worked with one of my many providers told me they are only there for the experience. I believe it.

Having largely sworn off western medicine for most of my adult life, I found the route of naturopathy to be more in alignment with healthcare, as in caring for peoples health. The holistic route. Having been physically active my life, when my body started behaving differently, I was not happy with the change. I was even less happy with the fact that no one in my western medicine community took my concerns seriously. Big hospitals and doctors that came highly recommended failed me time after time. Having moved to a new community and not having made new healthcare connections, I was in a place to start looking at starting over. Basically firing my fancy doctor and looking for a great doctor within the BIPOC Community. It was during this process that I learned about Bonnie and her work. I had never been to someone practicing functional medicine. Oddly, I don't even think I've ever researched down that path. But she came highly recommended and she accepts my insurance so I made an appointment. My initial appointment with Bonnie was very reminiscent of visits with former naturopath. Her approach is thoughtful and holistic. Her questioning was good and relevant and careful and inquisitive. She not only listened, but she heard what I was saying about my concerns - she tracked what I was saying, and asked questions to dive deeper. She ordered bloodwork that I needed to start getting answers. Bloodwork that I wasn't able to get from others because they wouldn't listen to me. Because she listened and was proactive, I'm now on a path of Collecting information that will tell a story. With that story will come actual health care. If you're feeling like you're not being heard and you're tired of getting blown off by providers with fancy titles doling out shitty care, check out functional medicine and Bonnie Sprague.

I so appreciate this woman and her impeccable skills, judgment on numerous issues at this point. I would be lost without her! Argh... I'm frustrated that I have to write a negative review. I write positive and negative…read morereviews, so I don't only come here to Yelp when I need to vent. Unfortunately, I'm having to write this review because I'm the one holding the bag at the end of the day with x-ray charges. As I was just told when speaking to someone in the accounting office, Mt. Baker Imaging had their x-ray machines "hacked" back in January 2025, which is why I was directed to go to the hospital to have my x-rays done. I was told that I wasn't the only one impacted by this since others were being sent to other facilities at that time. I had the understanding that since I was going to an urgent care facility that I would be billed as such. Because I was sent to a hospital for my x-rays I was billed by the hospital at hospital rates. I'm now having to pay $436 instead of a $15 co-pay. I called Family Care Network and what was I told? "Unfortunately, you'll have to deal with the hospital because all we can see is what we've billed you for and we've already been paid for that." Where is the accountability here? It could have been as simple as informing customers that they aren't able to do x-rays and that if you end up needing one you may have to go to another facility and incur additional charges.
