This little grocery store is owned by a Dominican guy named Roberto, & he employs local people to…read morerun his business all year long. So where do I start?!? They make 2 different kinds of soup daily, (chicken & tripe soup or whatever) 3 plates of different food (ox tail, steak, pork cops stewed/fried) which are always delicious. I have lived on 14th street for 50 years now & he is located right across the street & they even deliver in the mornings. They stock bathroom stuff, macaroni, sauces, candy, cigarettes, toothpaste etc.. This company is certified "For The People" when it comes to doing the right thing. A few years ago a bunch of morons went in there & thought it was going to an easy place to knock off. It was all caught on video, but I cannot find it anymore, I can only find the article that was written up. Two (2) guys walked in & announced "THIS IS A ROBBERY", then proceeded to put two (2) customers on the floor & told them not to move. The guy with the gun walked up to the guy behind the counter (Danny / no longer works there) & put a gun to his head. Danny didn't like the idea & pushed the gun to the side away from his face. The robber wasn't too smart because he did it again. This time Danny grabbed the gun & started to fight with him. He hit Danny in the face & his accomplice broke a bottle over Danny's face & then it was a few for all. All the customers both standing & laying down started to pound the gunman & they took away his gun but not before he could fire it into the wall during the struggle. Here's the link & maybe if you can do a better job researching, you'll find the video as well. Go to Lantigua & tell them Mikey "pitbull" sent you. =) ~

This is like a little bodega / mom n' pop grocery that's two blocks from my house. This great…read morelittle place saved me the hassle of walking out to 21st street and broadway to hit up the big supermarkets so I was very pleased with them. All in all, given their size they really do carry the essentials that you might need at reasonable prices. I think they're a great neighborhood grocery and people should know about them so here we are. I was having some family members over for dinner in honor of my cousin's last day in the city and I needed olive oil, italian bread, and stuffing. This place had all three plus I noticed they carried Boar's head deli meat, different types of soups and cereals, dinner meats like chicken and pork chops, and cleaning supplies plus *some* fresh produce. If you live in the area this should be your go-to place if you need a little something to make yourself dinner and can't be bothered to go out to the main drag by Broadway. Give the place a tray! It worked really well for my needs.

I didn't get to go during their grand opening, but it's alright. It definitely changed for the better after the renovations from Hanareum. It did take a while for everything to be ready. I'm just glad that there's another Korean supermarket in the neighborhood. There's a lot of prepared foods and a section for ramen. I explored every nook and cranny of this spot and was impressed. There is a hmart loyalty card, so that's great because you can earn things with it. I'll be back when I'm around the area again.

It's packed, so keep that in mind! Looks like they're giving out a small gift package if you spend over $30 for the grand opening period (outside on Bowne St side, there should be a tent) and they have some items for sale that may change in the future, like a box of Shin Ramen for $11. They have a lot of ramen/ramyun here and the items are slightly more tailored for the Chinese demographic. There seems to be some Chinese speaking staff here, although some of the younger staff were just speaking English, and plenty of signs were in 3 languages. Actually I lied, most product price signs are in English so don't quote me on this. I just ran in and out because I was already exhausted from work and didn't want to drown in people.

It was a crazy opening week that lasted for nearly 2 weeks. I didn't want to bother with the check out lines it was that packed. Finally got to go last week and was glad too since there were some awesome sales going on with their beef ribeyes and tenderloins. I mean REALLY good sales. I stocked up, lol! Anyhow, it's a location like most of the other locations where the place is kept clean, the staff (with the exception of some Caucasian guy at the front entrance) are all friendly. They have an assortment of your staple American and Latino Americano drinks and ices. They also carry Mexican and American candies and snacks too which is why I like this spot. It's funny that an "Elite" Yelper would have posted something classist about people who use EBT cards here. What does that even mean? Who stands that close to someone to see how they're paying for groceries? More importantly, everyone should have access to food and shouldn't be shamed for it. Anyway, the customers are usually folks who live in the area. The owners have always been nice and friendly with me, and Maria is super sweet. No, it's not an upscale store with gourmet food. It wouldn't be a bodega if it were! If you're looking for a fancy upper snob-side store, this ain't it. However, if you need a snack and a drink, this is a one stop pop-in and pop-out regular store. They also take debit cards too.

I think this location has the best seafood and sashimi out of all the nearby Hmarts, and I've found the cashiers here to be the friendliest too. They also carry the Slow Village Makgeolli (느린마을 막걸리), which you normally can get only in Korea and tastes so much better than the other makgeolli brands generally sold in the US. I also love the maple doughnuts sold at this Hmart, though not sure if they're always available (they're made in the US and usually go for $5.99 for a box). I just wish they had people bagging our groceries at checkout, because sometimes it gets pretty hectic when you're rushing to do it yourself and the next customer is impatiently waiting for you to be done. The kind Korean lady with a black bob cut and glasses sometimes bags my groceries for me when I seem overwhelmed b/c I've bought so many groceries, but she's really the only one who's ever helped me bag my groceries. I think if they had someone bagging groceries (or had cashiers doing it themselves, like at Trader Joe's), it would save customers a lot of time and stress!
