To Whom It May Concern…read more I am writing regarding the speeding ticket I received about two weeks ago, near the intersection of Route 619 and Route 43. I want to express that I have always taken driving laws seriously and have maintained a clean driving record since becoming licensed. This incident was both unexpected and confusing for several reasons that I hope you will take into consideration. On that day, I had my cruise control set at 49 mph. Based on the posted speed limits in that area -- which change quickly from 55 mph to 35 mph -- I was in the process of going up the hill but also trying to slow down because of the quick speed change. The officer stated that I was going 51 mph, which neither my dashboard nor cruise control registered. I was also not familiar with how rapidly the speed limit shifted, as I am very conscious of driving legally. I was respectful and calm during the stop, though I was emotionally and physically unwell that day. That morning, a very close friend to me had passed, and she had been awaiting a liver transplant -- which was something extremely personal to me as a kidney transplant recipient. Additionally, I had just returned from a draining treatment in Cleveland. Despite explaining this, I was met with a noticeably harsh tone from the officer, who lectured me at length and treated me dismissively when I asked clarifying questions. His closing remark -- "Well, I hope you have a better night now" -- felt sarcastic and added to my emotional distress. After paying the fine promptly, I learned from a friend with a criminal justice background that the ticket contained an error. I was somehow listed as both the driver and passenger, which was factually incorrect. The officer's signature was illegible, and the information about how to proceed with a "waivable" offense was not only unclear but also misleading. The term waivable was not explained to me correctly, as the perspective I was getting was it would be taken care of and off my record. My friend had also told me that I should have asked to see the meter as what it locked me at, since it was completely unaware that I was going that fast. As a young adult who takes driving seriously and had no prior infractions, I feel I was treated unfairly and given little opportunity to understand or correct what was happening. I respectfully request that my situation be reviewed, and I hope this account helps provide context behind why I am concerned about how the citation and interaction were handled. Thank you for your time and consideration. Sincerely, anonymous.

My husband called prior to us heading to this location (35 minutes away) to check and see what…read morerequired documents were needed in order for us to get our Ohio drivers licenses. He grabbed everything and we headed over. Upon arrival, we were told that I needed my wedding license bc of my name change. When he called, no one mentioned needing the marriage license, so we were a little more than annoyed. We have all documents saved on our Dropbox, but they wouldn't accept an electronic version-- had to be the original with a raised seal. Grrrrrrr. So we had to drive 35 minutes back home, grab the license, and drive 35 minutes back. Despite the annoyance of having to go home, I will say the ladies working at this location were so wonderful. Very apologetic and understanding of our frustration. I've been to BMVs in Michigan, North Carolina, and Georgia, and have always dealt with rude, inefficient workers when getting a license. The people at this location are the nicest that I've ever had to encounter. If you need to go to a BMV for some reason, definitely consider going to this one!!

The marker is on the side of the road and there is a small church parking lot nearby so that you can view the marker. It reads, "Charles E. Wilson was born on July 18, 1890 in Minerva. After earning a degree in electrical engineering from the Carnegie Institute of Technology in 1909, he joined the Westinghouse Electric Company in Pittsburgh before moving to General Motors in Detroit in 1919. By January 1941, Wilson had become president of General Motors, and during World War II directed the company's huge defense production efforts, earning him a U.S. Medal of Merit in 1946. While still with General Motors, President Dwight Eisenhower selected him as secretary of defense in January 1953. During his confirmation hearings, Wilson said, "What was good for the country was good for General Motors and visa versa," but was interpreted as saying solely, "What's good for General Motors is good for America." He served Eisenhower for four years, reorganizing the department of defense to effectively deal with missile and nuclear technology. He died in Norwood, Louisiana, on September 26, 1961." The marker was erectedin 2003 by the Ohio Bicentennial Commission and The Longaberger Company, Village of Minerva, and The Ohio Historical Society. It is marker 3-10. Knowing this, I took a day off on a Friday to come to their 1pm tour. No one else was there so it ended up being a private tour for my BF and me. Our docent Elaine was a straight G for showing us all the areas (and more!), giving us colorful background, really emphasizing the significance of the place and her passion to maintain and preserve. While it's true that the entire upstairs have been converted to offices, Christmas displays and bridal suites, the first floor, and some extras (library, dinning room, sunroom, German pub room) were all still intact and interesting to tour. The staff was very welcoming and it genuinely was interesting to learn about Alliance, the engineering company and the descendants. The admission cost is $10 per person cash and I thought it was worthwhile for the hour+ tour. The grounds had an echo chamber that greatly amused us! Recommend stopping by here and checking out the cute antique shops in downtown Alliance! I had a wonderful day trip here.

We were there for the holiday weekend tour and it was really crowded with not great crowd-management and not really much information about the home or the family. There was a brief hand-out with some basic information about each room, but really nothing really sparked my attention or jumped out here. I am still not sure what the family did or aware of any specific hidden gems in the mansion or anything significant about the architecture. The most interesting little detail were the trolls and owls carved into the molding upstairs in the library. I don't know, but maybe if we came back on a day that wasn't packed to the brim with people I would have felt more engaged? Or maybe more time to talk to the docents? For ten bucks per adult, I don't really think it was worth it. There were significant repairs needed and the house has not fully been restored. There are far more detailed and interesting tours of historic homes in the northeast Ohio area to visit. Either way, now we can say we've been and my son DID get to visit Santa Claus with virtually zero wait to do so. That's a win.
