I usually love attending this salon, however I have only had this set for about a week and a half and as you can see just about every nail is lifting around the edges and one completely peeled off :( I called to come in to just get the one nail fixed and they told me I'd have to wait TWO hours for just the one nail, when I said that was a bit too late they offered for me to come in next day... so i'm instead opting to take them all off as I wanted them fixed for an event tonight. I'm very disappointed as the work here is usually good, but when my nails pop off because the prep was done incorrectly, I don't think it's appropriate to have to wait 2 hours to get something fixed that will take 10 mins. Just sad to pay $70 for a set that are peeling off in a week :( read more

I went in last Thursday for shellac. 3/6/25 Gal was very kind, but did not do a good job, my nails were very thick and deformed looking. Also did not push polish right up to cuticle leaving a gap plus the thick polish edge leaving a hump. So I went back to let them know, they took off the polish and charged me 10.00. I would have expected a refund of the 35.00 plus 10.00 tip. Not being charged an added 10.00. And the owner gentleman seemed mad to me. I will not go back read more

My pedicure was fairly priced, and the man working completed the job in 40 mins from start to finish. That is the positive. On the negative side, he nipped my toes making them bleed slightly 3 different times! I'm all for efficiency but wouldn't have been upset if he slowed down and paid a little more attention. read more

Came in here for a pedicure with my neighbor and her daughter.I just had the worst experience. They also just changed owners. First off the water was very cold , I kept asking them to make it warmer but it would go warm then cold again. Then the guy made my toe bleed, thats right he made my big toe bleed . It still hurts today. I got the deluxe and the hot stones were too hot, it burned so I told him no. The overall paint job was not great. They should have not charged me since they made my toe bleed but they did. I honestly will not only never come back here but also will probably never get a pedicure ever again. read more

I had a great experience here for my pedicure last weekend. The salon was very clean and I didn't have to wait on a Saturday. They have a good selection of OPI nail polish and they seem to keep their nail equipment sanitary. The owners/employees were very nice, so there's a good chance that I will be returning soon. read more

The gentleman is super nice and great to communicate with. The wife is not. She's completely rude and short. It sounds like she's yelling at you, frustrated to be there and like you're a big inconvenience to her day. She often goes so hard and quick that it's hits nerves and I squeal. She like to tell me to relax but it's difficult when you knows she's mean and she's going to be so rough. Not my favorite spot. Will be going somewhere else moving forward. read more

My daughters and I have been coming here for years, I have always loved how great John does my nails. His wife on the other hand is very short, and makes your feel like an inconvenience- and the other tech they have that helps sometimes doesn't do a good job. Today I askded for a pearl tip, they couldn't do it they told me. Only white. The tech painted the tip on and one hand looks okay, but the other doesn't. She doesn't do a good job shaping, and the polish is not even. I thought they looked fine until I got home and my husband commented on them saying they look uneven. I called them and asked them to fix my nails because I didn't realize how bad they looked, and the wife yelled at me saying that I "always" do this...? In the three years of me coming here I can remember one time I asked them to fix a nail. I was completely blown away at how rude she was to me. I have been a faithful customer for years- but yelling at a customer and being mean and rude to me for absolutely no reason is enough for me to stop going there all together. if I want anything other than a nude nail, I'm told no. They never try to help give me what I want. They just tell me they can't do what I want and I end up getting something I don't like if I ever try to stray from a nude nail. If you're coming for anything other than a manicure or pedicure- don't. And Make sure you don't leave until you are positive you love them, because otherwise you'll get yelled at and told too bad. read more

They have the best price for a deluxe shellac pedicure only $55. I've been places that charge $60-80 for these services. I moved from the other side of town and found this spot and I will be a regular. It's a very relaxing, comfortable environment and the owners are friendly. read more

I have been to this small salon 5 times now and each time they get me in quickly, take their time on my mani & pedi and are always welcoming. The salon is very clean, too. Well. I really loved the convenience and quality of this salon up until my last two visits. I'll never know why my quality of service went downhill so badly. The manicures I got were great until my last visit. I was cut by the rotary a few times and when I complained about the filing being too hot, he kept going anyway without any change. I would try and chat with them and they would ignore me or write me off. When I went in for a chipped nail a few days after my last manicure, they were rude claiming that it was MY fault the nail broke and not because they filed my nails down to be as thin as paper. After they fixed my nail I realized they didn't even add enough coats to match the color. I unfortunately won't be returning to this salon. read more

I went in today for a full set and the lady rushed my nails and left the under part of the nails looking horrible. I love Special Nails, it is my number one go-to spot for my regular pedis in the 'hood and I go every few weeks to get my toes looked after. The salon decor is traditional and the place is always clean (VERY important to me). More importantly this is a family-run business and the staff are so friendly and lovely, I'm always made to feel so welcome. While I can be a bit of a nervous customer who worries about getting hurt when having nails done after a few bad experiences at other places, I've never even had to flinch with any of the folk at Special Nails. They are all so gentle, careful and precise, although I do usually laugh my head off when my feet are being scrubbed as I'm super ticklish! Super well priced too, I highly recommend. read more

I really don't like to post bad reviews, but I rely on other reviews good and bad when choosing which establishments to visit... I'm new to the area and need a good nail spot. I read good reviews and tried Special Nails for a gel mani before a wedding. It was honestly the worst mani I've ever gotten... I had to ask her to file my nails as she was going to paint them after buffering which made them jagged, the polish was all over my skin (seriously all over the skin), she did not put oil on my cuticles, used the wrong color and got upset when I asked her to change it to the right one, no lotion, just all around bad. I went to the car and ran my finger over my pinky nail, the polish lifted without any pressure or scratching to pull it up. I went back in to have it fixed and the second time was worse than the first. I gave up and willing be going to a new spot. The other gal was very nice and seemed to do a good job. read more

While the people were friendly and happy, we are very unhappy with our experience here. They do not use liners in the foot baths, which should have been my first major clue. The massage chairs work fine, but are in pretty sad condition. The salon itself is definitely not as clean or "nice" as I'm used to. They did not honor their posted rates, stating that those are really old rates. But, we were in the area on my last day before coming back home from a wonderful visit with my daughters, and it was the only place still open. During the cuticle trim on my feet, one of my big toes was cut badly enough that it really hurt, and then she put acetone on it, which BURNED. 24 hours later, I can't wear a shoe, my foot is so sore and it has puss coming out from under the nail. My other foot is also very tender, and I cannot wear a shoe with that one, either. It wasn't hurt as badly, but cut too deep nonetheless. And by the way, after I hollered a few times in pain, no one even apologized. Someone else came over and said, "oh you have dry feet". Yeah, I do somewhat, but if you WATCH what you're doing, you won't cut so deep. A different young lady did my fingers, and my hands were a mess, but she did a great job. I am pretty upset about my feet, however, and now completely terrified of this puss on my right foot. I am back home, nearly 1,000 miles away. They refused to give my daughter a refund when she went in today to get hers fixed. I hate to complain, but not being able to wear shoes and then puss under one nail, yeah, I'm complaining. Ridiculous. I have never needed to go to a podiatrist after a pedicure, and I've been getting them for 25+ years. But this time, looks like that is where I am heading tomorrow. read more

I was going to have to go home and soak them off, or pay another place to fix this mess. I finally talked myself into calling and asking for a refund. She gave me my money back and I appreciate that but the more I think about it, the less comfortable I feel letting anyone else spend a dime here. They are so bad. When I saw how he treated the staff and she hadn't gotten far with with my nails, I just asked her to remove the old set so I could leave, I did not want to support a business that treats their staff this way. While waiting to check out and tip Janna, I watched the man with the white hair speak so rudely to his staff. For the price, the nail techs are trying to push out sales as fast as they can and do not get the time to do a good job. This guy is extremely rude to everyone around.
