Ari does excellent work. She understands color. They use good color products. Joico line of colors. It's expensive if you have two colors done or any weaving of color. Ari is very friendly and kind. If i can give them 0 stars i would i showed them a pic of how exactly i wanted my hair something simple brown with carmel highlights and what they did was make my whole head platinum blonde with ash grey blonde and orange color and try to lie to my face and say its exactly like the pic but when i asked the other girls there they lied to me yet had the facial expression like omg if that was my hair i would have killed the hair stylist for that horrible color the lady that did it is short Hispanic wears glasses and short brown hair this is the 2nd time she screwed up my hair do not go here at all read more

I'm not from the area, but while visiting family, I wanted (needed) to get a relaxing manicure. I called and was pleasantly surprised to get a same day appointment with Regina. She was absolutely amazing! I typically do my own nails at home, but it never comes out the same. She was very meticulous about my nails, and was equally beautiful and funny to chat with. Coming from Vegas and a stepmom who is a hairdresser, I know how amazing haircuts are done. When I ask for a trim and that my bangs when dry should be at eyebrow length that's what I expect. Every hairstylist I have ever been too understands this. Apparently here it's my fault and I get a lecture on what I should have said. I'm beyond embarrassed to walk outside. Thank gawd for headbands. I will never have my family or friends come here again which is a shame since I am big on supporting local businesses, just not here. I had my hair done by Dominique, one of their stylist she takes a little too much time to do my highlights and dry my hair, sometimes not drying because my transportation has arrived. Although their staff, are willing to work with my schedule it always takes a little too long for my appointment's. Another downfall, this place needs is a washer and dryer, they shouldn't have to take there work home.......where's the owner and what is going to be done with that darn bell that keeps ringing making you think someones coming thru the front door......it drives me and their customers crazy and still after all the complaints they've never fixed it.....where's the courtesy to your customers?? read more

This review is in regards to the massage services offered by Nancy Lerno. I have been coming to Nancy for massage on and off for a year or so & I cannot say enough good things about her. She is very attentive to your needs and really goes the extra mile to make sure the areas that are giving you trouble are worked on thoroughly. I'm an ER Nurse and as such, my job is very physically and mentally draining. Seeing Nancy every couple of weeks is my "gift" to myself and I can really feel the difference in my body. It is such a relaxing experience... I so look forward to my appointments! Nancy is very in tune with the body & is able to find those little "tweaked" muscles that contribute to the bigger problems. Araselli rocks! First of al, Araselli does the best highlights I have ever, EVER had! (In 30+ years) I am growing out my gray, and she suggested blending my natural color plus adding lowlights to pump up the color. Araselli does a beautiful, meticulously careful job every single time. The highlights are ultra thin, and my color grows out, and blends really well with the gray, even after 6 weeks. I have never gotten an "Oops!" Color or cut. I also must mention how sweet she is. When my adult daughter comes in to get highlights and haircuts from Araselli, she is always treated with exceptional kindness & concern for her comfort due to health issues. Araselli takes the time to discuss your cut and color each time, so, you will not be stuck with the same thing automatically. I alternate between two ladies for doing my hair and both are awesome, Erin and Cindy (depending on who's available because I have a very busy schedule and never know when I'll have time to pamper myself). I get my nails done there now as well by Ana and she does a beautiful job. A big plus is the owner Kathy is a sweetheart and she cuts my hubby's hair. This is a big thing because he has very fine hair and used to drive all the way to Folsom to get his hair cut because so many did such a terrible job on it. It was a match made in heaven when I finally talked him into letting Kathy cut it for him and now he wouldn't go to any other stylist. They have three massage therapists in the salon and a person (Donna) who does wonderful facials. You can't miss on this salon, plus its a very pleasant setting to relax in. read more

Let me start off by saying I am very unpleased with this salon and its staff. I had a very bad first experience here on Thursday (6-9-16). I called and made an appt with Monnique (sp?) for an A-line haircut. She seemed to be really nice. She cut my hair and kept messing it up before I looked at it which I thought was strange, but I let it go went home straightened out my hair and that's when I saw how much she butchered the back of my hair. I was mortified. I went in with long hair and came home with the worst haircut I have ever received in my life. I went back spoke with someone about what happened, and told them I was not happy. So a nice girl by the name of Brenda took about an hour of her time to fix my hair. She unfortunately had to cut more off my hair than I wanted in order to fix it. I asked for my money back, and when M gave me my money back she shorted me the tip I gave her. She also muttered kind of under her breath something about me just wanting a free haircut. The haircut was only $14 to begin with and I tipped her $6. I thought that was highly unprofessional and I wanted Brenda to have the money since she took her time to fix my hair. I made sure I told who I thought was the owner about the ordeal including M shorting me my money back. She said she would take care of it. At that time I made an appt with B for highlights for today (6-11-16) thinking ok she fixed my hair I'll give her my business. Well I show up today, and low and behold I'm not scheduled til the following Saturday. I made the appt for today because I have an event to go to otherwise I would've made it for a different day all together. My patience and number of chances I was willing to give this established has just run out. I am very unhappy with the turn of events that have happened regarding Unique by Design. I will never ever give them my business again, nor will I recommend them to anyone ever. In addition to this review I plan on going onto all the social media sites to let the people know about my experience here. If people choose this place as their salon then I employ them to do so cautiously. Best of luck to anyone who takes their business to Unique by Design. read more
