Avoid this Company and save yourself a lot of grief. They work only for the owners and have no interest in the rights of the tenant. They told me this themselves. They are paid by the owner- Renters beware. I am currently in Arbitration with them and look forward to having my issues resolved with the RTA. I would give zero stars if it was possible. They are only interested in their profits, which is how renters get taken advantage of. I was paying 4500.00 in Rent and they treated me rudely and with disrespect. I plan a lawsuit for Bullying and Harassment. read more

I would stay away from this company if you are a tenant they only work for the owner and not for there tenants. Unique broke many tenancy rights they dictate they demand and they barge in on you without any prior notice. Unique rented me an unfinished apartment and did not disclose the defecincies to me prior to signing my lease then dumped all the owners responsibilities on me. They demand for you to be home to have these repairs done they are the property managers that refuse to do anything. They build themselves on a premiere service while charging you higher in rent which is a joke as there value =0. Unique is quick to evict as they are built on yearly leases instead of the legal 4% increases and look for any excuse to evict a tenant so they can jack the rent for the owner. read more

Working as a Vancouver Art Consultant, I often meet people that are new to Vancouver. I always refer clients to Unique Accommodations because they are simply the best. What I like most is how easy they are to communicate with. The properties I have seen have always been beautifully finished and super clean. I have been a landlord and tenant and have experienced their paperwork and communication on both sides and every detail was always presented in a professional, clear & concise manner. I would definitely recommend Unique Accommodations. They show Vancouver's best side and with local charm and professional flair! read more

Contacted Unique about a property in March 2017. The home we wanted to rent was available for August 1. This was an executive style home at over 4k/month. On Unique's website, it had a "Request a Tour / Request More Info" button for this home, so we selected this to request a tour or more info, adding some info about our family. We received an email from Unique informing us that they would not be showing this home until closer to August and recommended that we go to their website and add our name to the wait list of the property page. We told Unique that there is no waitlist button on the property page for this home. We then received a response saying that the property does not have a waitlist option because they have a firm date for availability which was August 1. They asked if we wanted to view it and we said yes, and to please contact us when they are able to show the property closer to August. A few months go by and we see that the home was listed on Craigslist in May, with details about viewing the home and linkbacks to Unique's website. We sent another email to Unique to ask about this home and inquire as to why we were not contacted to view this home. We received a response saying that they won't know if properties will be available on their waitlist until 4-6 weeks prior to the current tenants moving out, therefore the properties won't be available for viewing until July 1, which conflicts with their initial email of this property being a firm availability date of August 1. A few more back and forth emails, they inform us that this home was already rented, so we asked how does their process work as we inquired about this back in March and they said they would contact us in July and it's already rented in May. Turns out that the owner decided to rent the property himself thru Craigslist. Not surprised, maybe he was just as frustrated as we were in dealing with Unique Accommodations and decided to take things into his own hands so he can get his property rented. If you're a homeowner looking to rent your property, you may have better luck going thru Craigslist and it won't cost you a cent. It was 10 times more reliable for us than Unique was. read more

This company was dishonest all went down hill after singing my lease, appliances didn't work and their manger would come by unannounced. The owner of the suite and unique quickly made their problems my problems with constant demands for repairars. read more

Unique Accommodations managed our property in North Vancouver for 5 years and were very proactive thorough and professional. I would use Unique again in a moment. read more

I'd give zero stars if the option was available. Stay away if you are looking for a property management company for your rental property. When I spoke to the receptionist she told me they already rent a unit in the building I have a unit in and are therefore familiar with the property. I asked for options of renting furnished or unfurnished. She said she would have a rep contact me. Received an email from a rep. who advised they weren't sure if that address would rent furnished. I waited 4 business days and finally contacted rep again. He confirmed it wouldn't rent easily furnished. Completely ignored the fact that I had also asked about renting it unfurnished. When I asked about renting it unfurnished he advised that it wouldn't work for me as I wanted short term. I replied if I rent it unfurnished I will ask for 1 year fixed term lease which meets their criteria. Then he tells me the property is not within their appetite furnished or unfurnished!!! Are they on drugs??????? They wasted a week of my time making it most likely impossible to rent by August 31st - costing me $2000 in mortgage, taxes, maintenance. read more

When I reached out to Unique to rent out my apt in Coal Harbour, they got back to me really fast with detailed info on condos listed in that area. We then set up a meeting right away to go over my needs. The staff is very friendly and professional! I would certainly recommend them if you are in need of renting. read more

All they ever have listed on their site is probably fake rentals with a banner saying "you missed it"..never anything actually available. I'm not on your site looking for what I missed or what could have been! Get your priorities straight! read more

We engaged Unique to find tenants for our condo and they marketed themselves as a premium service that justified premium pricing..Unfortunately our experience was anything but.. They did manage to arrange a viewing within a week..but on the day of the viewing the property manager broke a small glass light and left the light on at the apt.. While these are not clearly major issues we did expect a more professional handling of our apt. We expressed concerns about these issues to Nina and her husband (the owners) but instead of trying to address our concerns and demonstrate ownership and accountability for our negative experience..we were abruptly informed to look for another service provider. We felt very disrespected!! Aside from wasting our time the overall experience really left a bad taste.. I would NOT recommend Unique in the strongest possible terms! read more

Not worth your time to deal with. They were disrespectful and inconsistent in their communication with me as a possible owner. They do offer some nice properties to rent online but are very rude and not helpful with the details. read more

Terrible...stay away! They showed up 20 minutes late to one of our viewings (without letting us know). When we we're let in, there was a lot of confusion between the agents and current resident because they didn't know we were coming. So they obviously didn't schedule it properly. They also did not know the layout of the building. They were not good at communicating either. I was told by an agent to call her at 9am the next day and when I did, she did not answer...I left a message and she did not return my phone calls. Overall, this was a terrible experience that I found VERY unprofessional. I will definitely not be using Unique Accommodations ever again. read more

Not impressed with the lack of professionalism and poor communication. They mucked up With dates on an agreement to end tenancy and undo their mistake. read more

This company was the worst I have ever dealt with as a prospective renter. It is next to impossible to actually speak to an agent. After leaving multiple voice messages as well as sending an email within ten minutes of a posting being put up on Craigslist, I did not hear back from the company until later that evening (approximately 8 hours later). The email simply said that the unit was essentially rented already, but that they could let us know if the agreement fell through. We replied with 'yes, please do'. A week later, we saw the same ad again, with no contact from the company letting us know that the deal did in fact fall through. After contacting the business again, they told us that our email said the complete opposite (that we did NOT want further contact) despite the fact that we can easily go back and see that this was not the case. Regardless, we were told to come by for an open house the next afternoon. At the time of the open house. we were unable to get ahold of the agent whose number we had. After contacting head office, the receptionist said that we needed an appointment, and that their agents are not allowed to answer calls, business or otherwise, when showing an apartment. After hearing our story, the receptionist said he would get to the bottom of the situation and call us back. Of course, there was no call back. This morning, after WE contact them again, they reply that the apartment has been rented already. I have never been so frustrated with a company, or have experienced such overwhelmingly poor communication. Not a single voice message was ever returned. I am not the type to leave nasty reviews, but this has been a beyond irritating experience, and I can only imagine that they are worse to have as landlords. If I hadn't loved this apartment so much, I never would have tried so hard to see it. Finding a place to live is stressful enough without trying to do the company's job for them. Too bad you can't leave zero stars. read more

I chose Unique Accommodations when I had to move to Vancouver on short notice and didn't have the time to look around more. I would most definitely not choose them again. After moving out there and seeing my friend's apartments, I realized pretty quickly just how overpriced my place was. Additionally, their rental properties are spread out across Vancouver, and the structure very de-localized. It was hell to coordinate even simple maintenance. But the real kicker was the damage deposit. When we moved in, a nice Unique employee explained that he'd written down most of the existing damage on our move-in form. When we moved out, we discovered that this same employee had been fired because he "did such a bad job." We ended up paying several hundred dollars for preexisting damage even after we'd paid $300 to have it professionally cleaned. I would think that if they had such a bad employee - bad enough that they revealed he was fired for incomplete property evaluations - then they would waive the damages that we said were preexisting. Apparently Unique just doesn't have the moral balls to pocket a few hundred dollars for a good customer relations. read more

Going to unfortunately have to agree with the not so great reviews for this company. They are very very difficult to deal with. And renters and landlords beware. I've tried working with them several times over the years. Each placement has always been an issue, and many times I've had more success renting my properties on my own. The most recent placement with them which finally did happen a few years ago, turned out to be a professional prostitute who had been banned from the adjacent buildings- and I only found this out after my building management refused to let her move in and questioned unique accommodations background checks. (And I own in one of the most prominent buildings in coal harbour) don't ever like to leave bad reviews, but whether it's the very unpleasant and disrespectful service when interacting with the staff and owner of this firm which I've had to put up with through the years, to the very terrible candidates they find- it's unfortunate that I have to warn potential clients on utilizing services with unique accommodations. read more

I'll never rent a suite through Unique Accommodations again. I agree with comments on here that they were very disrespectful and extremely unorganized. After countless issues with the suite I was living in, it became clear that Unique was not actually working for me as a reliable and responsible landlord. They are strictly working for the owner of the suite and once you have signed on the dotted line of your lease agreement, there is zero support from their team to get issues resolved. I had a flood in my suite (not due to my error) and I was unable to take the following day off work to wait around for their plumber. Normally a landlord will step in and take care of this for a tenant, after all, it is their suite (or in this case, Unique's client's suite). I was told by them that sending someone to let a plumber in is actually not in their job description (really, property managers?) and I had no choice but to skip work deal with this issue. I've rented a lot in this city and have had pretty great relationships with all of my landlords. Unique is not one of them. I don't care how fantastic or well priced the suite is, I will never rent from them again. Something to think about if you want to list your apartment with them. read more
