This was one first visit and this location (Yonge and Sheppard) has a very odd ambiance when you first walk in. There was no vibe. The hostess was friendly. The restaurant is freezing so opted to sit outside in the shaded patio. The service is SUPER slow and the server didn't seem to be all together. She spilled water on a customer and never came back to our table until much later. She originally came to our table every minute which was too much!! The food was average your typical Canadian food. The fish and chips was the best tasting dish and their fries. The kids chicken tenders with fries wasn't crispy. My child didn't really enjoy it! We also got the shrimp tacos and deluxe burger. The shrimp didn't have much flavour. This restaurant overall need to be renovated and a deep scrub down because it looks dirty and really dark. There was no apology for the slow service and the sever didn't look happy to be there. She was the only server working with about 23 customers. The restaurant is very short staffed. There was a server who worked downstairs that I noticed he kept dropping things here and there! The entire restaurant was unorganized. Very disappointing first experience! read more

Service was kind of slow even though it wasn't too busy. I ordered a sangria and it wasn't good. It tasted like it was just sitting out, not sure if it's premixed? It was cloudy... all of the sangrias I've had are dark red like the wine was freshly poured not pink and cloudy. Then the steak bowl was.... Very lacklustre. The steak was medium rare but it was so tough, very chewy and had no seasoning. Then there was cabbage, rice, avocado and cucumber. There was no sauce, dressing, seaming, nothing. I was just eating white rice with raw veggies since the steak was so hard. read more

Stopped here for a drink while in town for work. Upon arriving the hostess was friendly and accommodating. Our server seemed a little overwhelmed and we often didn't see her for large swaths of time despite it not being overly busy at the restaurant. We were only stopping in for drinks, so I cannot speak for the food, but overall it seems like typical pub grub. The sangria was interesting. The gradient was something I had not seen before. Overall, it was kind of what I expected. read more

Came here on a Saturday afternoon after lunch hours and the place is empty. We were told the soup of the day was "cream of mushroom" and it was not... We were expecting a vegetarian soup but it had meat in it. The avocado dip was brown in colour when it arrived. It looked like it was made a long time ago and has been sitting out for a long time. The Almond Crusted Chicken Tenders was OK. The chicken was very thin so it was a bit dry. They were nice that they removed the soup from the bill. But overall.... It was very disappointing. read more

I now work in the area so have had the opportunity to visit this location a couple of times. I am consistently happy with my dining experience here. Service is good, prices are not astronomical, and food is quite good. I love the almond crusted chicken fingers. They're delicious! A good place to go with groups as the menu has something for every palette and the location is spacious so a lot of tables to sit at. Good for: lunch, dinner, group meals read more

Patio party was going on when we came here for dinner. I ordered blacked salmon and it's delicious. A ciroc French vodka drink was served by shot glass as part of the promotion with beers (3 flavours) and finger foods. The music is too loud, we barely can't hear each other, maybe because there is a party. I don't know the noise during regular days. Nice patio set up. I like it that there is a fire place in the middle with blankets. Service is OK. The crowds is mostly young people. Paid parking on the street. It's free after 10pm. read more

I've been to Union Social pre covid and really liked the restaurant atmosphere and food. Decided to order take out and overall the food was good. Unfortunately take out fries aren't the best, but that's not the restaurants fault. I've tried their fries in the restaurant and they're very good. The burger this time around was a little disappointing. It lacked a lot of flavour and was over cooked. It wasn't the worst thing ever but definitely not on my top list of burgers. We really enjoyed the tacos and chicken tenders, absolutely no complaints there. In terms of takeout packaging, everything was packaged well (cardboard). All the sauces came in separate containers as shown in the pictures. And I'm glad that even though it was takeout the food was presented well. I can't wait for restaurants to open up again because I loved going to this restaurant for dine in! read more

Unfortunately meh food but really the available Sunday water hole to see friends from GTA. Came here once last year on a Saturday or Sunday, and once last week on a Sunday. It was empty both times during the afternoon and evening. The calamari is overly breaded and their guacamole did come out slightly darkened. It's really not a place to go to for the food and moreso an option for larger groups if no one can make up their mind. The menus are a bit sticky. Anyway, their servers are pleasant and thoughtful. read more

I love the rooftop open patio setting of the location. There was ample space so our group was able to properly social distance from other groups. The menu items for food and drinks are also all exciting and came out looking good in their presentations. Our servers were nice in their accommodation and in our requests for our pictures to be taken. What pulls me back from an overall positive recommendation of the place was the prices of their menu items. It is a little higher than what people may be comfortable to spend on a regular basis in hanging out or chilling with friends. Another thing that did not sit well with me was the time you have to wait for a table. It was understandable that a group of 5 would have to wait for a bigger seating table to be available. What was inconvenient was someone from our group needed to regularly come back and inquire if it is ready. It was made the more harder because there was no wait area (due to Covid restrictions for indoor spacea) and there was bright, hot sun directed towards the food place during the time. This would have been better fixed if they can take customer numbers and call or text them once the table is ready. This extra service accommodation, being done by other establishments, would allow an overall positive experience for customer groups to conveniently wait in a more confortable spot. read more

Our manager chose this location for our staff Christmas dinner this year. It was not very busy when we got there and the ambiance was very inviting and pleasant. I ordered the Smokehouse Deluxe Beef Burger which is served with fries. I enjoyed my food even though the meat was a little more charred than it should have been. Our waitress was great and gave our group exceptional service. I think this is one of the best premium casual dining and socializing venues in town. read more

A cool chic place to eat and drink after a day of work. The demographic of this place is definitely white collared young professionals, and the staff are there to match. Our waiter was the sweetest and was super enthusiastic that night. He suggested dishes with great vigor and made light conversation--it was an all-round great time! I ordered the chicken panang noodle bowl, which is quite lovely. It was everything I expected in the dish and was quite a large portion. I will say it's nothing revolutionary, but it got the job done. At the end of the day, is the food worth the price tag? Probably not. But the general ambience and vibe of the place is nice to relax after a day of work and to drink the night away! read more

This place was getting pretty full when we arrived. Luckily, I had made reservations in advance as I like knowing that I have a table at a popular restaurant. The staff were extremely accommodating even though I originally only reserved for 3 people, informed them it would actually only be 2 upon arrival, and then it actually ended up being 4 people. They honestly must have believed that we were the most disorganized group to ever grace their establishment but it was honestly just due to a lack of communication between me and my friends haha Our waiter was extremely informative and friendly throughout our whole meal. When asked about their Killer Chicken Sandwich, he hyped it up a lot! To the point where my friend had extremely high expectations going into the sandwich that were not met, even though he did say it was delicious. Perhaps it needn't be hyped up as much as it was but that's just a personal opinion! I honestly regretted not ordering it upon seeing the sandwich get placed in front of my friend.... Anyways, onto the food I did feast on ~ [Crispy Buffalo Chicken Tacos] $9.98 - this dish comes with two tacos that were plenty filling. The tacos had deep fried chicken pieces tossed in buffalo sauce, aged cheddar, jalapeno-monterey jack, their very own salsa, gorgonzola flavored ranch, lettuce and fresh lime! These were delicious but definitely avoid this if you can't handle spicy foods. I would definitely get this again despite how messy my eating ending up being due to my inexperience with eating soft tacos haha [Roasted Vegetable Firecrackers] $9.48 - mmmm, we ended up ordering this to share between the four of us who were eating together! I had read some reviews that recommended firecrackers from this place so we opted for the vegetarian ones to try. The vegetarian ones are packed full of sweet peppers, onions, spinach, cremini mushrooms, cream cheese, feta, goat cheese and sweet chilli sauce! These were extremely heavy so given that there were only four pieces, one per person was plenty so keep that in mind if you're ordering it to share :D [Latte] $4 - no pictures of it but goodness gracious, this is one of few cups of coffee I've had that wasn't bitter in the least bit! It was delicious without sugar, so much so, that I would have gladly had 8 more cups if they were free. I definitely needed a caffeine boost because the film we were seeing after dinner began at a much later time than I'm used to being out so I highly recommend ordering this too! Highly recommend this place if you're in the area and want some good food before a movie or just in general :D read more

Still great service & good food. Nothing has changed for me. Hubby & I came here for a lunch one Saturday. It wasn't that busy & sometimes that's nice. It was still a tad early for lunch so they did get busier as our meal went on. The waitstaff is still good. We got seated quickly & ordered our drinks & food within a good time frame too. I like the laid back atmosphere of this place. Hubby had the roasted red pepper soup & then the chicken strips with fries. I had the bacon burger with fries. Yummy. I like this place for burgers & their fries are nice because they don't over salt them. We've been here before & we'll be back again. Not sure exactly when but it'll happen. I hope they don't suffer too much for business once the renovations are complete at Sheppard Center. read more

There's a fun ambiance to this Union Social Eatery, but the food is just ok. Service was good. Prices are average for this area (on the high side for pub food). We ordered parmesan truffle fries as a starter to share. I likes the fries (skinnier bistro style) and they were seasoned properly, but the truffle flavour must not have been evenly distributed as I only tasted it on a few fries. The parmesan was thick grated - I think a dusting would have been better. Everyone said their mains were under seasoned / not as flavourful as expected. My smoked bacon burger was good but that was because of the toppings - the beef patty itself didn't seem to be seasoned. Someone else ordered the almond chicken tenders which were completely dried out and bland. I'd probably only come back for drinks. read more

So my friends and I decided to come here to hang out, grab a bite and catch the games. The restaurant was kind enough to accommodate a party of 8 for a Saturday given we reserved on a Friday afternoon. So that's a plus. The venue used to be where Shoeless Joe was, if my memory serves me well. The decor is alright, nothing stood out for me? The noise level can be a bit less to have conversations with friends. We were seated in our reserved spot not long after we got in. The staff are very attentive at first and the shift/store manager even swung by to say hello. We ordered our food and we waited. I ordered the fish and chip, the fish is huge and came with plenty of fries. I also "caved in" and order the gravy. This I like as the flavours are different from the usual ones I get from other restaurants. Back to the fish, it is just okay? I couldn't taste the Steam Whistle Pilsner batter too much. Fish was just okay. Nothing super thrilling about it. I believe this place is more for hang out and grab a drink than people coming here for food. Will I come back? Yeah for hang out and that's about it. read more

We went to the Union Social Eatery for Sunday dinner. The restaurant is nicely decorated and the service was very friendly. It is more a bar than a restaurant. Everything is made in house so the food should be great. We started with the pulled pork poutine. It was pretty good. I was not very hungry so I had a Caesar salad. It was a typical Caesar salad. My friend had the Brie Chicken. She was happy with it, but it was nothing special. Would we go back? Probably since the staff was very friendly and I would like to try other dishes. read more

The only times I've been here were during lunch rushes during the weekday. Service is not as fast but understandble during busy hours. Food is good but not amazing, there are better options in the area. It is however a great place and atmosphere to just eat and have conversations with friends and coworkers. Ambiance is nice as well. Not much parking in the area other than street parking on Yonge and the smaller intersection. There is however a green p parking lot across the street. read more

I've come here a few times already but in my most recent visit we made reservations to watch the raptors playoff games. The energy and vibes of the place is really cool. The noise level is quite high for a dinner place in terms of music. We ordered the garlic shrimp taco, the flavour went well together with the avocado. This dish was tasty. And the house braised sirloin firecracker (egg roll wrap) the cream cheese was way too overpowering. I had one bite and didn't continue to finish the dish. Definitely not ordering this again! The truffle fries was not hot enough and tasted dried. It reminds me of left over fries and reheat in the oven the next day. Also, I can't really taste the truffle. Patio - unique patio with plenty of semi-private seating areas. Perfect for a rooftop patio summer day. Tho I find that Jack Astor's rooftop patio is way better than this one. But if you're here for the food, it's better than jacks! Food- truffle fries are a favourite. The special chicken sandwich with avocado is also a healthy choice. Pretty juicy and bread not dry. Also ordered the flatbread and it was good enough to share! Lettuce could have been a bit more fresh but overall the taste was fair. A bit saucy, but a good starter or meal. Drinks- Kronenburg blanc on tap. That's all I could say. Amazing! Not a lot of places have kronenburg blanc on tap (rather just in a bottle). Order it! read more

Came here the other night with my girlfriend for some late night eats because we found out Origin North was closed on a Monday. She recommended us try this place because she really likes their food. So for dinner instead of ordering mains, we ordered a bunch of appetizers to share between the two of us! :) It was more quiet so service sometimes took a little longer than we want, but overall their staff were quite friendly and also gave us some good recommendations to try! We tried their shrimp tacos, calamari and their chicken flatbread. All three dishes were delicious and so tasty!! :) I loved the shrimp tacos, it was a bit bigger than i had expected though! but the flavours were amazing with the mayo and the lettuce/tomato/chives. the calamari was lightly breaded, definitely one of the better ones i've had in the city. flatbread was also very delicious! but i was starting to get full so in the end i packed two pieces to go, but all in all their food is pretty good! I would definitely want to come back and try more food because I saw a few items on the menu that I would like to try in the future! read more

Nice rooftop patio and good food. I wouldn't say the burger was outstanding, but not bad. Service was quite friendly and attentive, although the waiter kept saying he would come back with more napkins (came back after the 3rd try). Still, he was nice and the order was accurate. One criticism - the booking system. They use OpenTable, but you can't collect points through OpenTable. It's not available on the main system, which sucks. Also, when you book on OpenTable, it's for INDOOR dining, not the patio. This isn't mentioned anywhere on the booking site. In 2021, we really should be allowed to choose between patio and indoor. read more

Been here a handful of times. Nothing in particular stands out, but its close to my work and food is ok. We usually grab a beer or two after work. Staff are all very friendly, service is slow sometimes weather youre on the patio or main dining floor. Ive hadtheir wings and wraps, honestly you can make better food at home. My most recent visit we got 2 burgers and fries. Both nicely smothered in cheese, but fries were soggy and stale and the burger was on the dry side. Overall, I'd skip the food here. I was excited to come by and have lunch with my family today (party of 4), wanted to see if their standards have changed since COVID. Arrived at 1pm was seated right away near the window. We noticed there was no AC which was fine but today was a very humid day so it became uncomfortable after a couple of minutes. You need to scan the QR code to view the menu and wait for your server. We waited for over 5minutes and no server came by to introduce themselves or take our drink orders. I had to walk to to the hostess to ask, and was advised "oh, ok let me get you your server and drinks first" Hostess came back with water we requested to sit somewhere cooler cause it was getting to hot, she had two glasses of water in her hand and you can see the cups were so sorry it had food scraps stuck to it. I asked for one water so she kindly gave me the cup with less food scraps..but.. disgustingly I didn't bother to complain. Sat and waited for 10 minutes after asking if I can order again, someone comes by to take my order. Great ! Thinking good things should be coming soon..waited for over 40minutes..NO FOOD...servers weren't tentitive, no one told us where our food was or apologize for the long wait. I had to walk up to the bar again and complain saying I have waited over 40minutes for my food ( literally we were ready to get up and leave now ) server comes back and tells us 5 minutes , and apologize for the long wait due to short staff. Food comes finally, we ordered :- calamari (starter to share), it was ok but breading was thick. We actually enjoyed this the most out of all food Almond crusted chicken tenders + salad - the batter was falling off the chicken, very thin, and super dry. Salad no compliants Somehouse deluxe beef burger + salad - normal beef burger, didn't have a wow to it. Salad no compliants Grilled chicken sandwich +fries - the chicken was so dry and tough it was like chewing on cardboard. The fries were soggy, and all stuck together, wasn't good. With all the disappointed of the food, services , sanitary conditions we were looking forward to just pay for our bill and leave. We used the washwroom and the female washroom was very dirty, no toilet paper in some stales, the toilets looked very disgusting, there were no paper towels to use, the only one paper towel left in the basket had a piece of hair on it.. (ew) couldn't dry my hands with the dryer cause it was too slow. Overall, I spent almost 2 hours here and didn't enjoy a thing. Not coming back. If I could ask for a refund I wish I could. I still tipped the one sever that was nicer and was able to provide service when asked. Entire meal was $90..should have went to elsewhere read more

It's funny, but I remember the menu had quite a lot of interesting things on it, yet I had such a hard time deciding what to eat. I finally settled on the Korean tacos, which were really flavourful. I was actually going to order them again, but pushed myself to try something new. I finally went with the firecracker appetizer, as it sounded really unique. It was ok, but I think not really something I would order again. Service was really good. Much better than most places I've eaten at recently, so I was a happy camper. My server took the time to ask what I liked, and made some recommendations based on what I told her. Dropped by during lunch, and since it was a gorgeous day outside, we asked for a seat on the rooftop patio, which had a great atmosphere. There's also two levels of seating indoors, with large TVs and a bar area. We ordered the banana coconut crusted chicken and herbed brie double chicken, as well as truffle fries on the side. The chicken was a little dry, but the truffle fries are amazing. They are an extra $3 to substitute in, but it was definitely worth it with its unique toppings. This was my first time coming to Union Social Eatery. My friend and I came to this restaurant after finding out that there was outside patio spot. We came to the restaurant on a Friday night at 6pm. There were seats available inside right away but we ended up putting our names on the waitlist to go to the patio. Waited about 45 mins but they called our phone when the table was ready so we were able to walk around the area and go to the water fountain across just to wait. Food: I ordered the fish and chips and my friend ordered a burger, it was about $16-20 each. Drink specials wine $6. Both of our orders were more than enough food, it was very filling and I could have brought some home. My friend didn't even finish her burger. Staff: The staff was very friendly, a very young and cool vibe here. Our server asked if it was our first time here and shortly after that the manager came to greet us personally and even offered us a delicious free appetizer! This was such a wonderful surprise! The appetizer was delicious as well, it was different types of flat bread with hummus and olive oil dips! I can't believe this is my first time here. I LOVED it! Ive recommended this place to people without having even been here because I already knew it was good. The patio is adorable! There aren't that many patio options uptown so I was pleasantly surprised. Despite being a patio, it's very well covered so even though it started raining a little bit during dinner, we stayed completely dry. They also have a fire pit and a bar area. We came on a Friday evening at 5:30, so there were spots still available. It was also $5 Peller wine & Coronas on Fridays. There wasn't too much wine in the glass, so I'd stick to the Coronas next time. I ordered the blackened bowties pasta which was surprisingly really delicious! I'm a little picky with how I like my pasta and I really liked this dish. It's also a pretty big portion, and both of us had to pack half of our pastas to go. If I worked closer to this area I'd probably come regularly for patio season. The patios nice, the foods great, the price is right. Also, side note that their GM is amazing! She goes from table to table to make sure everyone's enjoying their food. When she saw we only ate half our food, she asked if we wanted to swap it to something else! read more
