no...they are not lying. These people are making legitimate complaints that have been made before quite often with no ear to hear them because no one listens at this place. Yes, the Manager does a lot, and a fine job maintaining the property. But there is far more to it than just making sure the physical property is run correctly. most of property management is about selecting good tenants that will take care of the place and observe the rules and be considerate of everyone else. This is an older place, and we are all on top of each other. Side by side, on top, below. Thin ..very thin walls and ceilings. Just this past mothers day of all days....just this past weekend, Apt 16 is BLASTING their music BEYOND loud, so loud EVERY APARTMENT down on the end had to hear it thru the walls like it was full blast in their own apartment. WAS HORRIBLE. and they dont care in there. the people living there.. and do not care at all about anyone around them. we have retired people here, sick people, my own spouse has cancer and yet on mothers day, we have to be blasted apart by this sick music blaring at beyond anything anyone can bear. And again no one cares. It's in the LEASE AGREEMENT to observe proper behavior and noise levels. BUT..again..these are "friends" in this apartment - so they get to do whatever they want. Then last night, in # 66 i think, they do their almost daily fights, at the top of their lungs, outside...cussing and yelling profanity and screaming at each other for HOURS. so loud you can hear it in every unit and in the parking lot. but they dont care. They COULD keep it private, in their own apartment but NO..they insist EVERYONE has to hear it from around 9pm till about 11pm. again - they get to do whatever they want. and never warning. never a talk. just blast everyone else so you can yell and make it hell for everyone else. now..it's getting to be a miracle when it is a quiet night. WE CANT FEEL AT HOME HERE! THIS HAPPENS EVERY WEEKEND and during the week...well it's a 50/50 chance. some nights, by a miracle..it's quiet. other nights, all hell breaks loose. usually after 10pm when it's time for kids to start going to bed. it's very threatening now to have people yelling all night, people blasting music for hours on end, usually on the weekend when you want to rest, want to have SOME peace from a hard week of work. WE ALL PAY OUR RENT HERE - we all deserve our own home. If I can play my music so only i can hear it, whey do these small amount of people here demand to be allowed to play their music so loud the people in the next building can hear it clear as day? it's insane. IF MANAGMENT BOTHER TO ASK US ALL HERE WE WOULD TELL THEM THE TRUTH. again - the holiday parties are " very nice" the upkeep is very nice. but that doesnt make it liveable here. We are all locked into leases and it's not easy to move . and we would like to stay here. but yah, this place has high turnover mostly due to problems like this. a small group of people get to run out fine families. and why? because they are allowed to. everyone knows who it is. it isn't a secret at all. and they flaunt it even. like "so what, what are you going to do about it?" attitude. not fun when you have a car, wife, kids and have people in your face because they want to keep you up all night and want you to be tortured by their music so loud you can't even think. We had to leave on mothers day, just to get some peace and quite. how is this fair at all? it's beyond "babysitting". it's setting normal standards that decent people should live by. and we pay a lot of money because we work hard but even that is hard when you can't sleep at times. WOULD BE SO SIMPLE! you warn the offenders. you let everyone know, your music, your tv noise, your personal fights, belong IN YOUR OWN apartment. not outside it. NO ONE thinks you are cool because you blast your music so loud. everyone hates it but we have no choice but to tolerate it till our lease expires. would be so simple if people behaved like reasonable normal mature people instead of what's happened to this place now. He is a good good manager. i hope people know this. i hope his corporation knows this. he is well liked and does so much. but people that are doing this need to be taken care of asap. I was a property mgr before and it's a tuff job with no thanks. but if you dont keep everyone understanding the rules and behavior, you lose your good tenants and then you have a bad reputation and you get only people that won't pay well, and that make more problems, more noise, more crime. and then its way too hard to rehab the place. it's only like 4-5 apartments now and can be dealt with but has to be taken care of strongly. the other 95% of the people deserve to have some peace and quiet and respect as well. right now, these few people have made it miserable here for so many of us. read more

Stay away. This place has changed a lot. It's better than many places south of here, not as dangerous as those but...do not move here. about 50 + units here but about 5 families have literally taken over and make it a living hell every day with the Manager's blessing. Only move here if: (1) you are totally deaf so you don't mind screaming kids all day and into the night , the parents send them off to other people's areas to scream their heads off so they wont make noise at their own apartment. Throwing balls at your doors and walls, yelling at 2am at the top of their lungs.. (2) you dont mind thumping music all night long from about 5 people that have to turn their stereos and tv's on full blast all day and night. Some days it's like a 24 hour club here. music thumping through the paper thin walls and ceilings. Terrible to live here if you want to sleep at night, or you want to watch your own tv at a normal sound level. impossible. forget your kids doing school work. not possible. The 5 families here turn it up so loud so you cant even think. it's insane. they dont need to blast it so loud but they could care less about anyone else. They love being a nuisance and know the manager won't do a thing. It would be a great place if the manager would stop playing favorites and actually enforce the rules they set on all the tenants. Instead he allows about 5 families to totally destroy this complex. Music blasting, kids screaming till midnight and later, and people using the pool after the "official" closing hour and into the night. teens at 1 am screaming in the pool making so much noise waking everyone up. again, manager doesnt care. Most of the families here are hard working, many single parents, good kids. but about 5 families run over everyone here. And the Manager is friends with them so he lets them do what they want. Won't listen to anyone's complaints. Police in this area doesn't care about noise complaints. And they dropped the security firm that used to take care of these things. So now, late night and into the morning pool parties, blasting stereos that you can't even hear your own self think, never a good night sleep, EVER. The management company is far away and doesn't know and doesn't really care. Too hard to control these RUDE, Crude and obnoxious parents that allow pot smoking and crazy loud music and screaming kids at all hours of the night. These parents don't care and will not do anything about it and give you evil looks if you dare to say anything or ask them to turn it down. in fact they make it worse if you do. And the manager refuses to do anything about it. won't ask them to be considerate of their neighbors, won't inform them of the quiet rules, wont do anything. He can't offend his friends here. So you...pay your rent and have to suffer till your lease is up and then move to someplace decent. sadly ..the good people leave and more horrible ones move in. Sad to see this place go down down hill so much. save your money. move to better parts Downey or Cerritos and find a better place with more normal people and a Manager that cares about all the tenants - not just the few that are his buddies. Go elsewhere even if it's more money ..its well worth it if you do have your own well behaved kids and if you want to have a decent night sleep and avoid headaches from the constant music pounding and screaming at this place. read more

Agree with Elaine - this place has gone downhill. on the plus side, it's in a decent location, well maintained on the outside. But the building is getting old and there is zero insulation in the walls and ceilings. you can hear everything. The complex is very diverse with really good familes. Blacks, Whites, some Asians, Hispanics, almost everyone gets along and is very respectful towards each other. BUt...and I am Black...there are this small group..like 4-5 families...that over the last year have made it impossible to live here anymore and i'lll be leaving soon as well. The manager has taken the approach that he either doesnt know at all what's going on (shame on him for not knowing what everyone else here knows) or that "he'll handle it" and nothing every gets done. But 10% of the people here ruin it for 90%. that's how the world is i suppose. But if you move here, you'll be at their mercy. whenever they want to blast their music or TV, you'll have to live with it. If you visit - don't come during the week or day time. pop a visit in the evening when things get crazy. especially weekend nights. see if you want to live in this chaos before you spend your hard earned money here. these few crazy tennents...Whenever their many kids and teens want to run around and yell and scream at the top of their lungs, you have to live with it. nothing you can do or say, you try to talk to them and they'll make it worse for you. And the parents are worse...always yelling at each other at the top of their lungs...playing music full blast with vile lyrics...horrible examples. problem is they do it late at night when you want to watch your own tv or get some sleep. and they are VERY loud. It's chaos now and nothing will be done. Good people smarten up and move out of here fast, people that love ghetto life move in and make it spiral down. Well..since management doesnt want to fix this...they will have to deal with these people's late payments and destruction. they stomp on the plants and throw trash every where too. omg now so terrible live here. new manager, many bad things now. why? before manager here have everything control, everyone behave ok. now it's crazy. why? I have kids, i make them study, read, but now we can't have any peace, never quiet here anymore. it's hell. i teach my kids be respect. behave. but here it is now too bad. every day after school 8-9 kids from 4 family, they take over. they run so much scream and yell so much, throw balls at my home. i ask them stop they keep doing. they almost knock down me before and my older mother. why so crazy? why won't manager stop them? they throw trash everywhere now. throw ball all day, scream and yell for many many hours so much. we get home i'm tired. often have to work night shift medical. these kids act so terrible. screaming yelling outside my door till night time. never stop. hit windws with balls. throw trash and food everywhere. my kids see this and it's bad. those parents throw their kids out to go bother everyone. this is not a park! we live here, pay a lot of money here, my budget so tight and now we live so miserable. this is worst i ever see now. weekend is so bad. all day screaming for hours and hours no nap possible. can not eat without screaming all the time can not watch tv or movie because screaming soooooo loud. you tell their parent they so rude they dont care. they happy make everyone else want to move. aye....why we stuck here with this problem please fix it's not fair to all others . many feel same way we feel so bad no quiet no sleep no peace. please! read more

I've been living at Union Plaza for a little over a year now and all I can say is that I am very please I moved here. I'm not originally from California but since I moved in the Management has been very friendly and the Maintenance staff is outstanding. Something of note is the amount of friendship between neighbors and how we all look out for each other (Which especially hard to find among apartment residents) . During the day after school is out it is a common occurance to see parents and kids out in the courtyard playing together while having a great time. Currently the manager is Goddy aka Mr. Gray and I'll be honest when he first took over I wasn't too sure what to think of him but after a while he turned out to be a very trustworthy man who is always looking out for the benefit of his tenents. If your looking for a place to live thats confortable, has a great atmosphere, friendly and most of all understanding then look no further and come join us. P.S During some of the Holidays we all try to set up a block party for everyone to enjoy. Halloween was especially fun :) read more

Being a tenant here at Union Plaza _I feel I have every right to say what I feel and know to be true. Now this person t is really taking things too far. Its not about you, me or the tenants as you are really getting personal when people are speaking the truth and you calling them lairs. You on the other hand you must be the lair. UGH-- ugh------the manager is not a good one. don't speak up or cross him or you will reqret it he will make sure of it. the area stinks--have lived here for over a year and a half-your new guy plays favoritism. he allows certain people to do whatever.. as long as u are his friend and stay in good grace with him---very terrible choice, parting all times of the night, very loud.. little kids climbing over the pool fence to get there balls. loud kids playing in front of your window un supervised. thumping balls day and night. people smoking weed and cigaretts. cant walk by without smelling them even to the wash area. .i agree with Elaine and Maurice---the place is really ran down in the pass year. the apartments themselves are nice. don't move here u will regret it. I have been living here at Union Plaza for almost five years and I have loved every minute! It's always kept up so nice and clean by management and our maintenance man is the best. Whenever I call with an issue the manager always sends him right over. All my neighbors are friendly and the building overall is family oriented, we even have get together's for various holidays. I love that it's so close to the freeway and a great school is right across the street which is perfect if you have little ones and the city of Paramount is great. Ive only been a tenant in the complex going on about 2month, i have no complaints, and to be quite honest of all the places I'd looked at, this place stuck out the most, not only because of how quiet and clean it was on my initial visit, but management was also great and welcoming and has been every since. The manager is a short walk or a phone call away and is quick to answer any question or concern that i may have. Everyone and everything in this community is warm and welcoming. The management is great, professional and very organized. The apartments themselves are excellent for any sized family. I moved from this apartment complex 6 months ago. There was a huge roach problem at this complex when I lived there with my daughter. She was having a baby and we definitely did not want to raise my grandchild there. The management was okay when I was there. There was an older couple who were really friendly and helpful. read more
