We stayed in cabin number 20 right behind the main building, maybe 60 feet from the union Creek, which was wonderful atmosphere. The entire property was lovely, very peaceful, and we wish we were staying longer. Wonderful small trails directly from the resort along union Creek and several along the Rogue river including the Rogue gorge, which is very close to the resort. If you are looking for peace and quiet then this is a good place to stay. If you are looking for frills and amenities, you should book elsewhere. We stayed here to get away from the crowds near Crater Lake. Check in was simple at the Union Creek Lodge. The store and gift shop is well stocked with snacks, drinks, toiletries, trinkets, and such. Our cabin #12 was huge- way more space than the two of us needed, but I think it was a better option than a room at the Lodge or a one room cabin. Now, there was NO cell/wifi service in or around the campground unless you were at the Lodge. This didn't bother us, but make sure to have what you need downloaded or printed out ahead of time. The bugs were everywhere- ants, spiders, gnats, mosquitos. It was late July so that was to be expected. I don't mind them outside, it is when they are IN the cabin that I get a bit weirded out. I didn't feel comfortable opening the windows because there are no screens so that is just a welcome sign inviting more bugs. During the evenings we strolled around the campground, ate some pie from Beckies, and sat near the creek. Overall, we had a quiet and enjoyable time at the campground. read more

Less than 0 stars. They kept our $542 even though we canceled a month ahead of our reservation. Be very careful about booking here with their 15% off pay ahead discount. They advertise that they have a non refundable "deposit". What they don't tell you is that they consider the entire amount you pay up front as the deposit- not just a portion of it. We were supposed to be visiting Crater Lake with a friend. That friend fell ill, and we needed to cancel. Even though I notified them a month ahead of time, they required a doctors note to let us out of our reservation. Because this was our friends illness and not our own, we weren't able to produce a doctor's note- it felt too intrusive to ask our friend for that. We asked for an exception several times, and they wouldn't budge. They wound up keeping our $542. We have stayed here before, but I will never give them our business again. Furthermore, I will avoid properties managed by ARAMark. read more

This place was interesting. It's a bunch of cabins seemingly suffering from a lot of years of disrepair. The kitchen was nice to have, but interestingly stocked. There was a pepper shaker, but no salt shaker. There were two vegetable peelers, but only one spoon. The shower was so small I couldn't move to wash myself. There was no bath soap or shampoo, but there were six bottles of conditioner. People might stay because of the convenience of being so close to Crater Lake, but I wouldn't expect return visitors, or for people to come here as a destination. The trails were overgrown and impenetrable. And there was a creek, but no real water to access it. And it was not cheap. read more

Small, cute and cozy cabins to stay in if you're visiting Crater Lake. Check in was quick and easy and the cabins were easy to find and spot. There are a few fire pits and picnic tables out in the generous grassy area where you can make food, play games and enjoy the outdoors. As well as a larger than life chair to take some fun pictures. Walking into cabin number 5, my first thought was it was super cute, but very tiny. However, I didn't spend that much time in the cabin other than to sleep so it wasn't a big deal. Also, the bathroom is incredibly small and only big enough for one person at a time. All of the amenities were in working condition. We cooked a meal on the stove and left food in the fridge. The heater most definitely works and we were warm throughout the night. The walls are quite thin so you can hear semi trucks and the like driving down the road, but traffic is far, few and in-between. Overall, these are nice cabins for a couple of nights and there are a few different sizes to choose from based on the size of your party. read more

I have been going to Union Creek Resort for over 60 years! It's the same feel as it's always been... The only thing that different are the cabin prices. They are sky high now! Just know you are paying for "location"...proximity to Rogue River Gorge and Crater Lake and you won't be too disappointed when you will find more things wrong with the cabin than you can imagine. In the winter, expect to freeze. Hopefully you have a 0 degree sleeping bag in your vehicle! You may lose power and/or the heater won't work. In the Summer, it may be hard to sleeps as the AC just blows warm air. Everything is dusty so you wake up feeling tired and congested. Windows/door may not open or close properly, the beds may feel like a hay bale. Don't expect wi fi or cell service. Other than that, it's paradise! read more

I was embarrassed to bring my wife here. They don't tell you before you check in that the rooms at the lodge share two communal bathrooms for the entire lodge. There is no air conditioning in the rooms or the bathrooms. The entire building is very hot during the summer. There is a lot of noise from the highway. You can hear conversations from the adjacent rooms. There are no phones or TVs. There is no cellular service. The WiFi doesn't work. Lighting is poor. Finding somewhere else to stay once you get there is very difficult, so you're basically trapped in a hot, noisy room. read more

At least they have Wi-Fi. It's pretty weak but better than anything else out here. We'd stay again if we visit Crater Lake again! Super friendly staff...really well stocked store right at the resort. Great restaurant across the street (Beckies)....another Ginny, my new favorite server, was extra nice & accommodating as far as my to-go dinners & pie were concerned! I stayed 2 nights in 2 different cabins (#1 & #9). Both were great...although I'm partial to Cabin 9 just because of the woodsy, cozy atmosphere & it seems to have been renovated in recent years. This place is interesting, very scenic, surrounded by huge old growth trees and right next to a river. Very peaceful river sounds, but there is highway noise. There are a small cute café and ice cream shops across the street. Prospect is about 10 miles away, and there are some hikes waterfalls and other interesting things to see there. Crater lake is the opposite direction about 30 to 45 minutes. We stayed in the lodge, upstairs. It is an historic building which is kind of interesting, however there is no air-conditioning and being above the office and store with all of the refrigeration etc. it becomes swelteringly hot. Our room was over 100°f at 6pm. The rooms are very small, no place to relax and hang out after a long day exploring. There are mosquitoes outside at night. The reading room and lounge downstairs have been closed due to Covid, which is very interesting, because everything else is open. We just wanted to sit someplace cool and pleasant and play cards or read a book, but it was impossible as everything around here closes at 7 or 8 PM and then you are left wondering what to do for hours as you wait for your room to cool enough to sleep. We knew going in that there was no bathroom in the individual rooms, but it had been a long time since we experienced something like this, and reality set in the first morning. There are two shared bathrooms with toilet and shower shared between nine rooms upstairs. In the morning, there are a line of desperate people waiting for the toilets as others take long showers. If you stay here, rent a cabin instead. read more

Terrific/friendly/helpful staff. Great location outside the park (25 miles to Crater Lake). Room was clean. Very comfy bed. Here are 2 things to aware of: 1. No phone in the room. No cell phone coverage. (By the way, AT&T cell signal is strong about a 0.5 mile north of Watchman at the Crater National Park. No cell coverage anywhere within a 30-50 miles radius!!!). There IS a payphone at the front of reception but note that if u charge the call to a credit card, they charge $12 for the 1st minute and $2-3 per min for subsequent minutes. Huge ripoff. Luckily for me Amex rejected the charges. Nobody will tell u what the charges are. 2. Although the resort says that they have wifi, it didnt work for me on 3 different devices (my iphone, my ipad and my HP laptop) - the lady at the reception said that they are using a satellite connection. She was accessing the web from her desktop PC with no issues. go figure!!! If I had decent internet connection just to do very short emails, i would have given 4 stars for the rating. read more

We stayed two nights in a lodge room. It was comfortable, quiet, and had a great feeling surrounded by the forest. The floor had a distinct tilt to it, but you expect quirks like that in historic places. The sole nearby food option is the on-site Beckie's, which was decent for sandwiches/burgers for dinner but closed weekdays for breakfast (luckily we came prepared with our own). I appreciated their helpful handout provided at checkin about nearby trails, especially since it was hard to use the fickle wifi to search for any info. I'm all for the efficiency of shared bathrooms, but I was a bit nervous that only 2 bathrooms for 9 bedrooms would have some morning contention, but it never happened. read more

I stayed here at Union Creek Resort when I was visiting Crater Lake National Park. It's one of the few lodgings in the area. It isn't too shabby, just a little old. There are cabins and lodge rooms. I stayed in the latter. The room was spacious and the bed was comfortable enough. The room I had faced the road so you can hear cars driving by. It's nothing fancy, but good enough since I was out all day and only used the room to sleep. In the room, there is a table and chair, microwave, sink, nightstand, and mini fridge. No TV in the room. WiFi is spotty. The bathrooms are in the hallway and shared with the other lodge renters. There are not a lot of food options in the area. The closest is across the street at Becki's, which closes around 8pm. They do sell some groceries in the store where you check-in. The resort is about 30 minutes from Crater Lake National Park. read more

Cabin 11 is on the other side of the road behind Beckie's Diner. It is a 2 BR; 1 Bathroom cabin. We expected out dated and not the best furnishings, but for the cost charged of over $350/night; it is very over priced. Since this cabin is right behind the cafe, there were people sitting outside on the picnic tables directly in front of the cabin. Bedrooms were upstairs, so very hot. On top of that, to be told that you have to wash laundry and hand wash dishes without being fined is ridiculous! Also, there wasn't even a toaster, which is standard with other kitchens. After reading reviews here, I came prepared for cramped, dated, even unclean cabins; I brought Clorox wipes and didn't need them. Our cabin #20 was charming, updated, and clean. The air conditioner worked well in the front bedroom; none existed in the back bedroom, but windows created a breeze, so it cooled down in the evening. The entire cabin was spotless. the stove and refrigerator looked brand new. Yes the bathroom was super tiny, but the shower had good pressure. No cell service was inconvenient, even annoying, at first, but by the end of our 3-day stay, we were grateful because we spent so much more time with each other in good conversation and play. Wifi worked well early in the morning. The best part is the outdoors. They have so many family hikes, one on site, and others within walking distance. The creek is stocked with fish, and our 7-year-old grandson caught 6. Already he has caught fishing fever, and he loved running along the trails and playing in the water. Around a fire pit we roasted hot dogs one night and had s'mores every night. Our current era would do well to go back to separating work time and vacation time. Definitely this resort is not intended for working remotely, but if you want to commune with the outdoors and have a bed, shower, refigerator, Keurig and some wonderful adventures with your family, it's perfect! I went here with a Groupon deal for two nights for $119, I believe. I know some have mentioned that it's not a resort, but I would say it's more of a retreat. I drove 6.5 hours all the way from Lacey, WA to use my Groupon deal. It was a nice drive to Prospect with practically every type of weather as you round your way through the hills and valleys and woods. I pulled up to Union Creek at about 3pm and made my way to check in. I noticed right away that there was no cell service which wasn't a problem as I really just wanted a way to relax as I was going to Hawaii right after that. So this was my pre-vacation. It's actually really nice to electronically detox yourself while you're out here. This is why I mentioned it was more so a retreat from the norm and a slight return to the old fashioned days of finding things to do without being bothered with a cell, laptop, tablet, or portable electronics. The front desk is also a store and has pay phone services in case you have to make a call. This place is very remote so be aware of this before you come. It is quite a drive to the next town that has gas so make sure you fill up when you can as there is no gas facility in town. There aren't many choices in restaurants either. Again, this is a place to just get out and enjoy the nature around you. I noticed right away the sound of water rushing somewhere near the woods of the cabins. It also smelled wonderfully fresh which was amazing. Bring all weather gear because it was quite chilly. I brought my dog, so she was ready to jump out and stretch her legs as soon as I made it to the cabin. She also noticed how cold it was and basically gave me "the look" like why are you making me do this. The cabin itself was wonderful. I has one of the smaller rooms. It was perfect and cozy for 1-2 people. It was made from all natural woods so that gave it an extra appeal to me as it made it feel like you really were "roughin' it" but not sleeping on the ground. The heater warmed the cabin up nice and quick and then my dog got down to munchin and crunchin. There was a refrigerator and microwave in case you needed them. The water was also uncommonly boiling hot, so test it so you don't scald yourself. Yes, the Wi-Fi isn't strong and comes and goes very quickly or sometimes doesn't work at all. Again, I wasn't trying to be connected to the rest of the world. I wanted to connect with my natural surrounding so the Wi-Fi wasn't a bother for me. Plus I had a free bottle of local wine to keep me company due to my Groupon deal. Union Creek is a short drive to the majestic and awesomely beautiful Crater Lake, the oddly serene Natural Bridge Trail, & thunderous Rogue Gorge Viewpoint. So get out and take a walk. It's about 1.5 hours to Canyonville which has a gas station and a casino. It's also about a 2-3 hour drive to California or to the beach. I felt completely safe out here aside from the deer that run out when you're driving. The only con to this stay would be that I am not sure if I would pay the normal non-Groupon price to stay here as it is kind of expensive for the minimal overall amenities. With that said, I would stay here again if I wasn't so far away. It was a wonderful way to just get my mind together and truly relax and get some good rest. read more

We stayed in cabin 14 which was a 3-bedroom, 1.5 bathroom vacation rental house. The house was spacious and in a great, quiet spot. That said, it was not clean, and every other house on the street had a BBQ grill except for #14. Due to other negative reviews and COVID-19, I brought Lysol wipes to wipe down the high touch surfaces in the house upon arrival. There was urine on one of the bathroom seats, and most surfaces were not clean and didn't appear to have been touched by cleaning staff. The floors were clean of large debris, but left our socks dark brown after being in the house for a short time. There were also some hairs and stains on the bed sheets and the dishes were dirty. Another thing we noticed is an infestation of small gnat-type bugs...they were everywhere including the bedrooms. The population of these bugs is beyond what anyone could consider normal. I understand that summer is a crazy time for business, but the cleanliness standards need to be addressed, especially right now. This house needs updating desperately, but if that's out of the question, a deep clean would be nice, especially given the cost of the rental and the extra cleaning fee that is paid. read more

Coffee brewer works like espresso machine, 4 cups of water will yield 1/4 cup of coffee, if not less. This was my first trip to Oregon. I was so amazed with all the natural waterfalls and the forests, it was nice to get away from normal civilization and to relax and see different places in America. With Union Creek Resort, I was expecting to stay in a nice log cabin and got the complete opposite. My room was literally someone's bedroom above the reception office; I was basically in the attic. I had to share a bathroom with other residents (and that was pretty gross seeing that COVID-19 was happening), the room had no air conditioning and we were given a little desk fan to help keep us "cool". So I was basically annoyed and frustrated with the lodging arrangements. Across the street was the best cafe I think I've experienced in a long time, I believe it was called Beckies. There was also some BBQ in from of the resort that was amazing. Oh yeah, also reception is non existent, so beware!! Overall, my trip was amazing but the Union Creek Resort is a place I would rarely recommend staying at. read more

Five stars from this family of 4 that travels a lot. We stayed in cabin 19. Little bed for the adults and trundle bed for the kids. Fully stocked kitchen with full sized fridge/freezer and oven/range with 4 burners. Nice new bathroom with a real bathtub and tile walls. No problems with animals in the cabin although one night I heard something and had to turn on the porch light to scare it off. Fire pit and picnic table outside. Hot water. No cell service, weak wi-fi, so we were off the grid. Make plans to be off the grid if you come here. Right next to beautiful Union Creek and an 8-mile hiking trail right next to it. My daughter and I did some of the trail, got in the water (cold), and surprised a deer who didn't hear us coming. We stayed here as a base camp for Crater Lake. But there's so much to see in the area you don't need to go to Crater Lake. Rogue Gorge Viewpoint is right across the street and a waterfall at Mill Creek is a short drive away. At check-in the staff gave me a page with LOTS of trails and waterfalls in the area and it was super helpful. Having the store on-site was really nice, and I don't want to give the owners any ideas, but they don't price gouge you. Everything is reasonably priced. Store has canned products and a little bit of dairy and breakfast meat or lunchmeat. No dinner meat or produce. So if you need your meat and vegetables then bring your own. We stayed 3 nights and no one ever came and picked up our trash. I suppose that's my only complaint but if it really bothered me, which it didn't that much, I'm sure I could have called the front desk or found a place to put it myself. They have pet-friendly cabins and no pet cabins. If you are very allergic (like I am) of course you book a cabin that does not allow pets. But do yourself a favor and bring your own sleep sack or something just in case. Cabin 19 had zero issues but I heard a conversation at the front desk that indicated that not everyone complies with the no-pet rules. We did not use the restaurant across the street, which has burgers, sandwiches, and fried food (but no vegetables). We did go to the ice cream place twice and the BBQ place twice. BBQ guy was very nice. Ice cream place run by teenagers so you get whatever mood the teen is in that day. read more

This place is a gem, to the point that I don't want to write a review and spread the word. We stayed in Cabin 15, which to our surprise had a FULL kitchen. Do note, not all cabins come with a full kitchen. I'll post a picture with the map that illustrates this. They are small cabins, with great detail: the rock floor shower, the matching wood outdoorsy furniture. The place was CLEAN, this was most impressive. There is a fire pit and picnic table outside. The down side was that the windows are hard to open and there is a piece of plywood over the AC. I imagine that is because they have to take out AC and seal up for winter. You are in the middle of the forest, so there are bugs and wildlife that make their way into the cabin. One suggestion, it would be cool if the cabins had screens for more fresh air in the cabin. Loved this place and plan to return. I would highly recommend for couples and families. Make sure to save a day in your trip to explore the area around Union Creek Resort! read more

This place is so cute! We stayed here for one night. Lori was very welcoming and was very informative as to what trails to check out in the area looking at lava tubes and a natural bridge that is not to far from the resort. The store has a great selection of beer and sold fire wood for our campfire we had outside our cabin. We had dinner at Beckies. You have to try the huckleberry pie!! Eating at the restaurant we learned that area was historic and used to be a stopping place for water and berry picking. This place is a short drive to crater lake highly recommend!! read more

Stayed Two nights in a room upstairs in the lodge. The room was okay,, a sink, desk, Comfortable queen bed, small fridge and microwave provided. Shared bathrooms down the hall which was clean. Maid/cleaning service was less than desirable. Around the sink in the room there is old splatters of toothpaste running down the wall, they didn't leave clean towels for us,and they left our door ajar. So when we got back from our full days outing we came home to an open door. Nothing was taken, but we were not happy. No TV, Wi Fi very poor (can't stream), no AC so had trouble sleeping in a very hot room the second night. Way overpriced for what is provided but considering it's close to great trails and a short drive to CreatorLake they have a captive market. We had been through Union Creek many times and often wanted to stay. We stayed this past weekend and it was a little pricey. We originally were booked for Cabin 15 and there was a strange odor and we could not pin point it. Needless to say we did not think it would be safe staying in it. So I went to Lodge to ask if we could move to a different cabin. They were gracious and moved us to Cabin 19. That one was great and we were very thankful we were able to move. All in a nutshell great trails we took our dogs hiking on Sunday. Very quiet cabins and very clean. Probably would not stay again because they were pricey for one night. We had a fantastic stay at this resort. We took our kids here for Spring Break this year. The cabins are so cozy! Lots of little trails to hike around. We really enjoyed spending a few days off the grid. We packed games and easy meals to prepare. The cute little kitchen comes with all the basic tools. I brought my instant pot and we cooked all our meals. Great proximity to Crater Lake which was an amazing site to see. So beautiful and we lucked out getting a crystal clear day in March. Very friendly and welcoming staff. We would definitely stay here again. Would be a super fun place for a family reunion too! read more

Quiet picnic area with tables, community firepit, horseshoes, LOTS of beautiful hiking trails with waterfalls!!...you're truly in the woods. Internet? We stayed in the lodge rooms. They were clean and cozy and the beds were incredibly comfortable. The bathrooms were down the hall, but they were always clean and the other guests were polite and we never had to wait. The store was convenient and had any last minute needs. Becky's across the street had great food and great service. There are hiking trails near by, and lots of outdoor seating if you want to take in the sights. Very convenient to Crater Lake. read more
