Everyone in my group seemed to really love their food, especially the lasagna and Alfredo. I got the $5 marinara over noodles... Which was a very fair portion for $5, I loved the price, and it was surprisingly exceptional for being such a 'plain' dish. As a vegan I basically could only get the fried green beans and marinara small plate... Unless i wanted a salad minus meat and cheese (but would still end up paying full price... Pass). The green beans were good! If you get the green beans - share! The portion was large for an appetizer. Outside was lovely; you can clearly see the river and rafters would float by and wave. Inside looked more like a nicer, but typical bar ambiance/look - from what I could tell when I went inside to use the restroom. They gave us biscuits and butter which we didn't expect. We had to ask multiple times for lemon wedges, and they forgot to put 2 items on the ticket so we got part of our table late. Everyone was almost finished by the time the 2 remaining dishes arrived (although I could tell they did TRY to get it to us quickly). I don't live in Southern Oregon but needed to plan a reception. I was so excited when I discovered The Rogue River Lodge online. I contacted them, Anne and Lee were amazing to work with. Great communication, helpful information, referrals to local businesses. Their customer service was exceptional. Unfortunately I was unable to book my event at The Rogue River Lodge (it is too far from where the guests reside). I definitely plan to hold an event here in the future. read more

Man this is so close to a two star review, you DON'T EVEN KNOW! The saving grace was that we were refunded for our 50% of problem dishes, so it makes me want to give it a second chance. First off, please note that there's an upstairs and a downstairs dining experience. We didn't realize this and ended up upstairs when we probably would've been happier downstairs. (Not a Downtown Abbey review). Upstairs is fancy smansch but just not good enough to be worth the dough. The lamb was tough, and my girlfriend got a gluten free version of the lobster ravioli (which admittedly is a low percentage choice). We both got cups of soup, the broc-cheddar was better than the clam chowder. The dinner rolls were the BEST thing about this place, and they did rock. They also brought out a complementary app, which was a tasty bruschetta. Nestled along the bank of the mighty Rogue River dine on the exact spot where Clark Gable and many others relaxed and enjoyed the beauty of southern Oregon. The lawn and great patio roll up next to the river. Not only is the scenery spectacular but the food is outstanding. The "Lodge Burger" is truly the best burger on the Rogue. The high quality meat, bacon, wide range of cheeses, fresh tomato, lettuce, and onions grilled to perfection are a treat. My kids who like "plain" burgers loved this. The batter dipped fries are uniquely seasoned and should not be missed even for the more health concious. We also had the lodge salad which has a great creamy garlic dressing. Make the drive to Trail and enjoy a great meal for lunch or dinner. We've not done it yet but we hear a Saturday night dinner with a live band on the Rogue is not to be missed. Just want to start out by saying I wanted this Resturaunt to be good as it is literally the closest Resturaunt to my home. Sadly it wasn't. So I wrote this review while sitting and waiting. So far it's been over an hour, no food yet. You would think that a Friday afternoon at about 1pm wouldn't be that busy. There doesn't seem to be a great deal of people here why so slow? After the fourth time the waitress / bartender says "I'll be right with you" I've lost faith. When the food got to the table an hour plus after being told to seat ourselves the fries were cold, the salad was wrong, and the calamari was inedible (over fried and super dried out, like chewing a piece of fried rubber). The cobb salad (though not what we ordered) was pretty good, The prime rib sandwich was cut thin and over cooked, looked more like steak sandwich. Flavor was ok not great, and missing the Au jus it was supposed to come with. I just overheard the waitress/bartender say that they just got a new cook in the kitchen. Hmmm today was a bust but we will probably try again in a week or two. Hope it's better then. read more

Had a 50th anniversary here for my parents on the outdoor patio area along the river. What a beautiful location with exceptional service. The food was excellent and the event planning top notch. My husband and I just got back from our anniversary weekend at The Rogue River Lodge. What a special place! We stayed in their quaint cabin over looking the river. Very Romantic. They have a beautiful property with a outdoor restaurant that is also on the river. We also enjoyed the main property with fine dinning upstairs and casual dinning downstairs. On a road trip back to the San Francisco Bay Area from Crater Lake we spotted this restaurant along Hwy 62. There we cars and lots of people...always a good sign, so we decided to stop. We were not disappointed. This is a cozy restaurant with friendly, attentive staff. You have the option of dining on the beautiful Rogue River, in the restaurant or at the bar. In the summer months I'd suggest enjoying the river. Now about brunch...I had the Newburg Benedict. In all honesty I'd drive back to Oregon just to have that again. The crab was plentiful, the hollandaise was delicious and it was served on a croissant with avocado. My companion had the Omelet du Jour. It was loaded with steak and veggies. I'd actually never seen a steak omelet but if you're a meat lover, you'd definitely enjoy the omelet. The portions were plentiful and the prices are reasonable. My family and I just spent a weekend in Shady Cove for a family reunion, and we were looking for a nice place to have dinner (lakeside preferably). Rogue river lodge was recommended to us, and we couldn't have been happier! They first seated us upstairs in the formal dining room, which seemed very nice for a quiet dinner. However we had my 2 young cousins with us who had been in the car all day and could barely sit still. We saw some seating outside and asked if we could move out there, and they were very accommodating. On the way outside we walked through the bar area, which was very cool! If I had been in the area longer, I definitely would have come back to hang out in the bar and play some pool. The atmosphere was awesome and there were lots of people hanging out. Sitting outside by the river was exactly what we had in mind. It was warm and beautiful outside, and the setting was perfect. Classy yet casual. My cousins were able to run around and play on the lawn while we sat and enjoyed a glass of wine and a great meal. I had the Caesar salad with grilled salmon- it was light and delicious. Everyone in my group loved their meal. The owner even came out and chatted with us- we were excited to learn that she was originally from the same area of California as we are! I give this place 5 stars because we couldn't have asked for a more perfect spot to enjoy the summer evening. Atmosphere, service and meal were all great. This quaint cabin on the banks of the Rogue River was by far our accommodation highlight during a two-week Pacific NW trip -- which included other excellent stays. You really have the river to yourself, as there is no adjacent structure on the north bank and nothing as far as the eye can see on the south bank. The restaurant staff and owners were friendly and accessible. Our waitress served us dinner on our private porch and the owner, Lee, came by when I had a question about an appliance. I can't imagine a better base for day trips to Crater Lake (~ 1 hour drive) or when passing through southern Oregon on the way to California. read more

I'm on the road a lot and so have the opportunity to dine out frequently. This place, is a must stop on Highway 62 along the rogue River. Just 3 miles north of shady Cove. The new owners, Lee and Ann have restored this property and it is magnificent. With formal dining on the main floor and casual dining on the lower floor both have views of the beautiful rogue River. They also have outside patio dining were you can literally watch the ducks floating down the river. I enjoy this place so much, I had my wife meet me there for lunch. Just so we could sit and watch the river go by. My last meal there was a rib-eye steak cooked to perfection. Okay I had a baked potato, but it was perfect... Served moist and succulent with all the right accoutrement's. We had the opportunity to see people who were River rafting, stop by for a beer and a hot dog. This place has it all. From fine dining in a magnificently decorated restaurant to a beer and hot dog on the River. Highly recommend and I will be back as soon as I can. read more

We love The Rogue River Lodge! We eat here all the time in the dining room and the bar downstairs and are always satisfied. I love the spring salad and the house salad with toasted pine nuts. Their creamy garlic dressing is amazing. Their burgers and prime rib sandwich are delicious. If you eat upstairs the lamb is something we dream about! So yummy! The owners and staff are always friendly and accommodating to our small kids. Our daughter has a lot of food allergies and they go out of their way to find menu items she can enjoy. We are considered "locals" because we live about 8 miles up the Rogue River from The Lodge. We chose to retire in this amazingly beautiful area and have never missed leaving the Seattle. The Rogue River Lodge is by far the best restaurant within 40 miles and our absolute favorite. Really like this place! It's right on the rouge river and they have a beautiful patio right next to the river. It's a short drive from Shady Cove.The food is good and they have lots of options. They have great garlic bread and yummy entrees. We had the shrimp scampi yum! The salmon paperdelle noodles also good. Portions are generous and prices are moderate. The service was decent,a bit discombobulated and a little slow, but not too bad. We are also went for the mothers day brunch buffet. Lovely spread with beautiful views of the river. The buffet was $26.00 a person some of of the hot food was cold, but good. We were there for the last seating . Again service was disscombulated and slow, but everyone was pleasant. read more

5 stars but wish we could give them 10! The grounds are gorgeous, the river view is beautiful and Lee and Anne are the most wonderful, caring, attentive hosts one can find. The cabin is very clean with a delightful "Old Timey" era specific attention detail that is unmatched elsewhere. While the interior is "Old Timey" visually it has modern amenity updates. To boot, the cabin exterior features very modern relaxation amenities as well. An overnight stay includes a delicious homemade hand-delivered breakfast (where else do you find service like that?) so you can enjoy breakfast in the peaceful serenity of the Rogue River. If you're lucky, you may even catch a glimpse of the elusive River Otter family that lives on the adjacent bank just across the water. Do yourself a favor and treat yourself to a cozy, relaxing cabin stay or a divine wedding/ family reunion event on their gorgeous grounds. You won't regret it one bit! read more

This is a super dinner house! To celebrate our anniversary, we reserved a window table upstairs with a spectacular view of the lawn, patio & Rogue River. We had salmon cakes 4 ap, house salad, spicy chili & cheese soup & delicious bread before my entree of prime rib & Bert's of prime rib fettuccine - all outstanding! We even were treated to complimentary desserts - choco cake & creme brûlée - wow! Owner came out 2 check on us & Patricia & main server Dottie were top drawer. We just celebrated my parents 50th Anniversary at the Lodge last night. We made a reservation and the tables were ready for 14 of us. The service was excellent and the owner who I arranged to have a cake delivered was so nice and really made the whole event special. The food was excellent and we all ordered a wide variety of dishes from shrimp linguine, steak and French dips. We had six children with us and they were entertained by the Rogue River and it's rafters, plus the pool table inside. The staff did an awesome job with the surprise cake we presented to my parents and help serving and wrapping it up! A great experience and I would recommend for a party our size or just a nice dinner for two. read more

While visiting family in Medford, my brother and I decided to try the lodge for lunch on our way out for a drive. It was all we hoped it would be. The outdoor dining area was lovely, even the cute pesty kitty. The gal inside who took our order was very nice and knowledgeable. The sandwiches and fries were delicious and the portions were of good size. The french fries were unique in taste since they were batter dipped. I would recommend eating here not just for the river view, but for the staff and food. read more

We recently spent 3 nights in the cozy little cottage on the river. When you stay here, be prepared to be transported back to a much less-stressful era. There is no television, no microwave, and no telephone. We LOVED it!! There is heat and air-conditioning...one modern concession they added. The bed is comfortable and the shower is hot. Breakfast was delivered to our door promptly at 9:00 each morning. The Rogue River rolls by right below the deck that can be accessed by two different French doors...one right off the bedroom. We ate lunch at the outdoor dining area and dinner at the inside dining room of the main building. The waitresses are friendly and charming. Lee and Ann are accommodating and pleasant to visit with. If I were to complain about anything, it was that we had to leave after only 3 nights... read more

Great spot overlooking the Rogue River. I've eaten there several times now, both in the upstairs (formal) dining room, and downstairs in the "Riverview" room. My favorite upstairs is the braised lamb shank with a cherry & wine sauce - OUSTANDING. Downstairs, the hamburgers are as good as I've found in Southern Oregon. The service was excellent. The new owners have done a great job rebuilding a beautiful old building that was in disrepair. Don't forget to take a walk out the back of the building down to the river. A must stop on Highway 62! read more

My wife and I celebrated our 28th wedding anniversary on May 2nd, 2015 at the Rogue River Lodge. We were fortunate to reserve the cabin and absolutely loved the accommodations. Lee and Ann were exceptional hosts and the staff made our stay a memorable one. The venue is beautiful and the river was gorgeous. The food from the white cheddar, poblano pepper bisque to the prime rib and then the chocolate lava cake were out of this world. We WILL definitely be going there again. A fine, relaxing and enjoyable time was had. Oh, and bye the way, the breakfast served on the cabin deck was perfect and light. Beautiful way to end our time there....! Thanks again. This place is very cute, especially if you are looking to have a couples night out with some of your best friends. As soon as we walked in the decor was very impressive, you could easily tell that the new owners were very selective with how they remodeled. They are hiding a treasure downstairs in the fact that it is another bar that is very laid back, relaxing, with poker machines and a pool table, not to mention the bartender who is attentive and makes a great drink. The menu is limited, but the choices are broad and easy to choose from because it all sounds so good. It was made even better by the fact that my best friend was with us and so was his girl our new best girl too. In summary the wait staff was polite and attentive and the owners even stopped by to say hello and yes the food was excellent, everything everybody had was awesome. Downstairs in the casual bar was awesome! My boyfriend and I ordered a salad, clam chowder, chili dog and fries and it was all delish. Ordered with 2 glasses of local crater lake cellars reisling. Yum! And a great waitress. The next morning was a different story upstairs for brunch. We had a reservation for 20 after a wedding and we were there for 3 hours being served by by-far the worst waitress in history. It was bad from the beginning. She was patronizing when taking our order, didn't check in when it was 2 hours later, then messes up everyones bills but took responsibility for nothing. It was awful awful awful. Stay away from the pretentious upstairs dinner but always head downstairs for a casual and wonderful dining experience. read more
