Prior to the course I just finished, I was a 4.0 student. I finished my MBA at UofC and am now in…read moremy MHA. Let me tell you what is really gross about this school: The instructors recycle the same out of date material, do not help when you ask for help, then grade however they grade, and I finally came across the world's biggest nagging crazy person at the school. He is literally looking to fail students, we have all talked about it all bi-semester, and the things he gets by with are UNREAL. I failed the class by a small percent and did everything I could to pass. This jerk even includes broken links as an example of what we are to do (and writes "broken link" in the material). WTF are you getting paid for? IDK if I am going to continue here. What a joke.

I would have given this University a much better rating, but then I found out that participating in…read morethe commencement ceremony is nearly impossible. I was forced to finish my graduate degree during the summer term because they wouldn't allow me to take an additional 1 credit in the spring. I was told I had to attend the winter commencement because I completed my degree during the summer term. I thought that was fine until I found out the ceremony is on a Tuesday. Who has a college graduation in the middle of the week? I then requested to participate in the next spring commencement. I was told there is a waitlist and students are expected to attend the closest ceremony to their completion date. I was told I could join the waitlist, but more than likely I will not be allowed to participate in commencement. I paid thousands of dollars and spent countless hours completing a master's degree, just to find out they make it nearly impossible to even attend your graduation. So note to anyone considering the University of the Cumberlands: I wouldn't hold my breath waiting for graduation. Chances are you won't be allowed to attend.

I did not attend the LMU, but was caught by the historical marker out front and had to stop. It's…read morecertainly an impressive campus and the mission of the university sounds amazing. The marker has the same text on both sides. It starts with a quote and reads, "'If you come through this misery alive... I want you to do something for all those mountain people who have been shut out of the world all these years.' These words of President Abraham Lincoln to General O. O. Howard in 1863 proved to be the catalyst for the founding of LMU. Chartered on February 12, 1897, as a liberal arts university and the home of the Abraham Lincoln Museum. LMU continues its mission of providing an advanced education to people of this region." Next time I am through here, I will try to time it so that I can visit the museum. I was really nervous about the switch at first but the dean and advisors were so helpful and understanding on how hard it can be for students to balance school, home life and work, they truly made the transition a breeze. I have found all my classes at Strayer to be both thought provoking and intellectually stimulating. All in all, I couldn't be happier with my experience at Strayer and I am honored to be able to say I have had the privilege to attend such a fine University with a team of the most caring, understanding and motivational professors and advisors (Academic, admitting), that encouraged and supported me every step of the way; which gave me the strength to achieve my degree even in the most trying times of my life.

Yeah, I know....how enthralling can a place of education be on such a usually ponderous time? This university is a Baptist school, and so much warmer than I recall my four years at the Baptist College at Charleston (now Charleston Southern University) in the late 1960s. The level of staff and the outreach of students and professors at Carson-Newman during, before and after the two graduations (having to be split into two due to heavy rain being predicted, and thus moved inside instead of in their football stadium) impressed me and warmed me. How many universities have a university hymn sung at graduation and have Psalm 100 read during graduation. It just warmed my heart on this recent Friday (their graduations are always on Fridays).

I stayed…read morehere for a week of summer camp and upon entering my designated dorm (that looks like a prison facility), both beds, dressers and tables had a layer of dust on them. Room was musty, and the floor was grimy. I woke up feeling gross after 1 night. As for the resident hall bathroom: I have literally stayed in 3rd world country mission houses with cleaner showers. There is mildew and mold caked on every shower head and wall. Absolutely disgusting. Would not recommend without disposable shower shoes. Cafeteria food is ok, but I opted for fast food at most meals over the mystery meatloaf. Facilities outside of the sports and activities centers look a little worse for wear. Probably haven't been updated in 20 years or so. Not to mention there wasn't working AC on in the main building where sessions were being held. All this to say, I'm not sure I'd like to stay here again, and I honestly couldn't imagine living in these conditions as a student on campus.
