She frequently used incorrect pronouns for students and contributed to an environment that felt exclusionary and insensitive, which negatively affected the campus climate. She encouraged a student to harass me through text many times. Tuition is inflated so they can offer a supposedly "generous" financial aid package--most of which is simply compensation for the work students are required to perform. Academically, the campus falls short. Many professors lack true depth of knowledge in their subject areas, which is evident in programs like computer science, where instruction is consistently inadequate. I didn't learn how to write in MLA or APA7 until I transferred out of this "college". It is also concerning that this school offers degrees such as outdoor leadership but lacks any programs leading to licensure, including education or nursing. Students end up paying more than $25,000 a year for a liberal arts degree with credits that often do not transfer, pressuring them to remain at WWC to finish. In addition, the campus lacks ideological and ethnic diversity. The environment fosters a performative student body more focused on appearing loud and "socially aware" than on making meaningful change. Overall, WWC is definitely a degree mill where students learn nothing for a big price.

They put a large emphasis on in person learning so if you're sick or have an emergency basically you're screwed.

Western Carolina University is amazing!!…read more As I write this review I am a Junior. I love Western Carolina because ALL of the staff are really nice and respectful. The professors, janitors, student workers, peers... everyone! I have never had a professor here who was hard to deal with. Each are very unique and well experienced in what they teach. The first two years you must live on campus, which can be hard to adjust to, but in the end, gives you a great experience that will be worth the while. The campus is really beautiful and there are many things to do. The gym is really nice and it is two stories. There is a track, weight lifting equipment, treadmills and various cardio machines, a rock wall, and a basketball court which can double as a volleyball court. You can rent games or sports equipment with your cat card. Western also hosts tons of events like concerts, fairs, karaoke, etc... All of which are free to WCU students. The sporting events are also free to students because it is covered by the athletic fee. They are very cool to attend. Western Carolina is also very accessible to students and people with disabilities. We are the first school in the country to offer a University Participant program (UP), offering students with disabilities a chance to come to college for 2 years and gain college life experience. The program helps individuals to become more independent so that they can one day live on their own and have a job for themselves. The UP students are not separated from other students, rather, they are included in the mix with all other students and their classes. It's great! Let's talk tuition! Compared to other universities in North Carolina, Western is pretty cheap. We have NC promise which takes a lot off of tuition, and also, books here are free (very, very, few classes require out of pocket book fees) I have met out of state students who have come to Western because it is cheaper for them to pay out of state tuition here than it is for them to pay in state in their own states!

There's a nice historical marker on the early days of ETSU - which is a public university. The main campus felt surprisingly empty on a Sunday afternoon, but perhaps students were studying for their final exams and completing final papers in their dorm rooms or in the library before May graduation. Although I did not do a formal campus visit, the grounds are pretty and worth a quick visit if you're driving through Johnson City TN and looking for a short pit stop.

I worked 3 Jobs while attending LMC, had a double Major and a double Minor. Life was hectic, and I struggled allot, however all my professors knew my situation and were great about giving me the resources I needed to succeed. The best thing LMC taught me was how to think. How to question the "Facts" that I am given and draw my own conclusions, instead of taking everything at face value. This lesson alone was worth every dime, every late night, and every struggle I faced. Six years after graduating I have a great life, great job, and make a great living. And I can honestly say I do not think my life would have turned out quite the same way if I had chosen another college.
