I was waiting for cab Sunday afternoon Feb 8/25. I gave the cab instructions to come to the back lane for pickup & spoke to him on the phone. Cab 58 was difficult to understand & said he was in the back lane of the address but the map showed him across the street. He was upset & said he was leaving. I said fine & called a different company who found me in less than 10 min. This is not the first time I have had issues with Unicity. I have had to give an extra amount of cash because he refused to pickup in the back lane. I won't be using this company again. They have lost my business which is every weekend. read more

I recently returned to Winnipeg briefly, en route to the Twin Cities. I hadn't been back to my former home city for nearly eight years. I had landed at Winnipeg Richardson International Airport. I was waiting for my luggage at one of the baggage carousels. While patiently waiting to spot it, there was an ad for Unicity Taxi. It made me instantly smile. It was also fitting. As a Winnipegger, Unicity Taxi was my go-to ride between my home and the airport. It was almost as if it knew that I was in town and needed wheels. I had a rental car in mind. However, if I still lived in Winnipeg, I'd likely go with Unicity Taxi. This city has two major taxi cab companies. I went with Unicity Taxi for personal rides. The other, Duffy's Taxi, was more for work when I had early mornings shifts and the company paid for taxi rides Into the office from Duffy's. Back then, I didn't have a car, so I relied on public transit when it operated. For ridiculously early shifts that started between 5:30 am and 6:30 am, Duffy's got me to work. Unicity refers to Winnipeg after the amalgamation of various municipalities well before I was born. In a way, Winnipeg was far ahead of its time than Toronto. The latter amalgamated more recently in 1998. I didn't have any issues riding with Unicity Taxi. I'd call to get a taxi dispatched to my home. I don't recall waiting for eons for my cab to arrive. Perhaps I lucked out. I had no issues. I never arrived at the airport so late that it stressed me out. It was nice seeing Unicity taxi cabs when I left the airport's main and only terminal, and headed to the rental cars. I still like using taxis than vehicles through ride-sharing apps. I like speaking to humans and annoying the world with my voice than doing everything through an app. I haven't hailed a cab in Winnipeg since I was a resident. However, I'm pleased that Unicity Taxi is alive and kicking. (109) read more

The drivers are soo greedy. refusing to run the meter and demanding i pay upfront. always stating the my fare was 2 or 3 dollars more than the actual cost. the only upside is they come to your location fast. read more

Driver was courteous and arrived promptly as requested. We called to reserve a couple hours ahead. The cab was clean.

We had two great drivers going to an event at the concert hall and back. The only issue is that I ordered a cab to pick us up at 10pm and other people grabbed any cab they could. For future would recommend texting ppl with the cab # to avoid anger and frustration among attendees. It was also -30 out, so after a wonderful performance people got frosty. I am also sending a letter to our area councilor about installing a left turn signal on Main at the concert hall as almost impossible to make a turn with oncoming traffic, and its an accident waiting to happen. Also, cab ride that should have cost us $14, increased by $5 waiting for the light. Would encourage all cab company owners and uber drivers to request city hall to install a turn signal at that intersection and cite SAFETY FIRST. There was also a hockey game in town, so traffic was even heavier after our event at the concert hall. But have always had a pleasant experience with Unicity. read more

I called at 11 am for cab at 124 furby street, male dispatch asked for my name. He said cab will be in a few minutes. 11:10 I called again and asked if cab is coming he looked at his computer and said driver arrived but nobody came out of the house. I told him that is a lie, just cancel it. Sunday I go to church so I would come out, and I would get a message on my phone that cab is coming please make your way out. As I have been a regular customer of unicity and duffys since 2010, if dispatch or driver are making excuses, then they shouldn't be working in their job. read more

Hmm, really depends on who you have driving I suppose. Had both good and bad drivers. One guy was really confusing. He picked us up to go to the airport but got all upset when my Mom put her suitcase on his back seats. Buddy guy it's a cab that's been dispatched to YWG, you have to expect to have your customers bring luggage, what are ya thinking? Why doesn't the person who takes the address for pick up relay the full address to the taxi drivers? I called for a taxi today gave my suite number and street address and phone number. My condo has a main parking lot in front and one small street behind it. If you live behind you can't see a taxi drive into the main parking lot. After calling I went and sat on my bench in front of my condo - it was a nice day. After 40 minutes of waiting called again wondering why no one showed up. Was told the taxi driver came to the main parking lot, called my wrongly written down phone number then left. Why didn't he/she at least go to the back street to see if they might find someone waiting - was only 30 meters distance. If the taxi driver was given the full address he/she would have known to go to the back street and not stop at the main parking lot. Again they sent another driver who again was not given my suite number but this time had at least the right phone number to call me when he arrived at the main parking lot. Had to tell him to drive to the back street and take a right. I walked up to his car - was 5 meters from him and he still didn't see me. Had to wave him down and yell to get his attention. My condo has only 28 units not as big as others I have seen who have about a hundred and multiple streets behind like a maze. Really need to give the taxi drivers the full address to take them to the correct location. read more

I haven't used a cab in years, as the last time we called in for one for my mother-in-law it never came, but giving them another change I decided to get a cab over an uber. Last week I took a Unicity cab from Wpg airport to my friend's house less than 10 mins away and I was absolutely shocked by how rude and disrespectful the driver was to me. 0 customer service and he drove like he was being chased. It was snowing and I wasn't appropriately dressed as I just returned from a hot destination, the driver got out of the car threw my luggage in the middle of the street, not the side walk but the street and got back in the car to take off. I barely got out before he sped off. I totally understand that my fare wasn't large as I didn't go far, but I would have preferred him telling me at the airport the drive wasn't worth his time than he begrudging dropping me off. Last night the taxi drive used my debit card and tapped an extra 25.00​ onto of the 40.00 I already paid as soon as the trip started. I paid a total of 72.00 and when I called they hung up on me, i didn't tap my card 3 times just 2 times and as I was trying to explain. This to an operator she was rude, unprofessional, and hung up on me mid sentence. I wasn't raising my voice and tried asking questions about why an extra 25.00 was tapped which wasn't me. I tried telling her I have the bank records and just seen all this at lunch time. I have the time the cab arrived, how many times the card was tapped, what time the cab arrived everything and she got angry they can't seriously be getting away with scamming people by double tapping ect. I called Unicity Taxi from the back door of Portage Place 3 times (9:20 p.m., 9:35 p.m. and 9:50 p.m.) for a cab to pick up my wife and I. Each time I was told it would be there shortly. On the third call, I even asked if I was at the right place to get picked up. At 10:05 we decided to walk to Canada Life Centre where a Jets game had just ended to try to get a cab there. My wife has mobility issues so it took awhile. We lucked out hailing a cab down on Portage shortly after the long walk. No complaints with the driver who picked us up, but I was not impressed with the 'service' we got before finally hailing one down. Mark M. read more

I loved using Unicity in Winnipeg! The cab drivers are all so helpful, talkative, and courteous! It was great! I want to extend the biggest thank you to the cab driver who was driving the vehicle that I left my phone in. I won't put names here, but the drivers from cabs 050 and 068/069 helped me get my phone back! I was so absentminded and forgot my phone in the vehicle at the airport. One cab driver helped me get in contact with the dispatch and the other turned around to get my phone back to me! I was about to leave for Edmonton so I was in a bad situation. Shiraz, my driver, was awesome. First - a bit of background. My wife and I ordered takeout sushi. Fifteen minutes before pickup time for the sushi I got in the car. The front right tire was flat (thank you Winnipeg potholes!). I ordered the cab on the Unicity app, which worked flawlessly. Then I phoned the restaurant to say I'd be late. Doh - "we don't have a record of your order" the person at the restaurant told me. "I've ordered a cab and will be there shortly," I replied. At about that moment, Shiraz arrived. For five minutes after I got in the car he patiently listened to me rail on, then engaged in a calming and quite interesting conversation with me on the way to the restaurant, while waiting for my food, and on the way back home. Soo soo helpful during the heavy snow! I waited a little over two hours but the service was reliable. I called back three times to make sure they didn't forget about me and all the employees I spoke to were nice about it. The taxi driver made it and was very friendly. Got me to the airport quickly. I knew it was going to be a super busy day when I had to go to the airport on Oct 11th so I called 6 hours before my flight. People on my street were getting stuck so I was really worried they weren't going to make it to my apartment. read more

I was not late for work but I did leave my eye glasses in the Taxi. I called a half hour after being dropped off to ask if the driver could check, he found them and brought them to me ( I met his car at the sidewalk). This is such good service. I went to app for taxi yesterday. App indicated that taxi was 5 minutes away but I waited and it didn't arrive. So phoned their office and was told it will be there shortly. Waited some more and I was on the point of going to bus stop when it arrived. Asked for the reason that he was late, he said he didn't want to arrive early! I had an appointment and surely that is the reason I booked the taxi in the first place. He also was very rude and argued with me about which road to take, etc. On a previous occasion the driver took a long route to get more money.. I have left two voicemail messages for the manager but didn't receive a callback. I will not use this service again read more

For 4.8 km distance from the airport to my destination, the driver of Unicity Taxi charged me almost $20. I noticed this when he started going around the vicinity instead of driving straight to the destination. I had been to Winnipeg (my 3rd time) and I knew it would only take me 5 mins from the airport because I have looked at google maps. I also used Unicity's estimator at $1.71 per km and the taxi fare should just have been about $8.21 + tax. The driver was friendly. He shared some of his circumstances and I thought he was nice at the beginning. Unfortunately, I was ripped off by $22 (I gave tip too). He is probably in great need for money so he had to be dishonest to get more from seemingly naive people. That's really sad and unfortunate for him. THE TAXI BOARD NEEDS TO DIE. - Tonight I was the victim of unjust processes and discretionary 'rights' that could easily prove a legitimate safety concern during harsh Wininpeg winters to the people in Winnipeg. People who are left with two highly inferior options for cab companies. Duffy's & Unicity are the dominant taxi companies in Winnipeg with little to no real competition due to their death grip on the local industry. This unhealthy lack of competition in their market has lead to abusive, complacent and inferior 'service' with no legitimate regulatory body to enforce standards. Tonight I was a victim of not only this vile system but of a the product of that same system. My would-be driver arrived to the address he was requested (very prompty I may add) and initially I was impressed, however the tone of the interaction quickly changed. Upon entering *** UNICITY CAB #215 *** at approximately 12:00AM 20/01/2015 in the 'Elmwood' area, I was asked something that has never been asked of me before. I am a born & raised Winnipeger, a business owner and in the past 3 years I have spent in excess of $3,500 on cab fares The question... I kid you not... "Got cash man?" ... This not only caught me off guard but made me incredibly uncomfortable. "Got cash man?" - If the tables were turned, how would this cabby feel being asked by a total stranger at midnight... "Got cash man?" ... Not to mention that I have on COUNTLESS occasions had corrupt cab drivers ask me to pay them in cash and refrain from turning on their meters. Likely indicating in their computer system that they refused the fare, showed up and nobody was there or told some other lie in order to pocket 100% of my fare without paying the company and (statistically more than likely) the owner of the cab they are driving. Now back to this absurd, unprofessional and frankly inappropriate question I was asked... "Got cash man?" - Whether or not this was another idiot cab driver who thought he was exceptionally clever and fooling the naïve passenger in his car by stealing from his employer or if he was just socially inept I responded... "Why are you asking me that? You know what... I will just call Duffy's." and this was when I promptly made a civil exit from his cab. #215. I have NEVER, not ONCE been asked for cash upon entering a cab in the suburbs, leaving hotels, being picked up at my business, going for breakfast, going home from an event etc... YET when I leave ... Elmwood at midnight, there is something wrong and the driver is concerned he may not get paid... Funny how that works! wink emoticon What a buffoon. This all took place within the matter of less than 2 minutes. Prior to, "Got cash man?" he asked me where I was going (Osborne Village... as in over the Osborne street bridge) and when I told him he incorrectly called it "down town". I stated that it is over a bridge and thus outside of "down town", gave him specific directions and he attempted to correct me multiple times (4 to be exact). I digress though... After he verbally patted me down for cash I was out and I left to return to my friend's home and call their dispatch to file a complaint. Sure, if I had cash on me I could have swallowed this giant 'filth pie' he was serving me from the vile gaping chasm that he calls his mouth. My crux was that I did not and do not carry cash on me, as I am a millennial and most of us rarely walk around with cash on us in this rather plastic oriented world filled with glorious point systems just ripe for usage. I had a form of payment on me, one that ALL cabs with both Duffy's & Unicity are equipped to accept. My form of payment... A corporate platinum avion VISA. This trusty card has served many cabs well and been the generous purveyor of gratuities and fares alike. It has allowed me to accumulate points to fly my incredibly staff to various locations and even covered one of my flights to Maui. This card is a much less cumbersome friend than cash has ever been, not to mention if it is lost or stolen I am protected. Apparently this unicity driver of CAB #215 (in case anyone missed that, I view it as a public service at this point to state which car is infested by this cash hungry troll) does not share my affinity for platinum avion cards and by not having cash on me I deserved to walk home and freeze. The driver of 336 would not stop checking his phone. In a 10 minute ride, he must have looked at it 30 times. He took nice long looks while driving down Wellington Crescent and while turning the corner onto a street. I asked him to stop that twice but he would not. I asked him to let me out but he wouldn't. I was trapped by this guy's addiction. The Management offered to "speak with him". What customers want to hear is "I'm so sorry this happened to you. I can guarantee it won't happen again with any of our drivers. Here is a gift card to show our respect." Until then, I will never use Unicity (after using it for decades). read more

Requested a cab and was dispatched by their app. Confirmed the cab number, I was waiting at a bank in a shopping centre. I saw a cab leaving the centre parking lot, and saw it was my cab number. I waved at him, but he drove by. I saw him turn into the lot and drive straight past the bank. I walked over to his car waving my arms, but he drove off again! After spending 5 minutes in the phone queue and watching the driver circle around two more times, I finally got through to the dispatcher and told him to send the driver to the bank. One would think if a person was attempting to wave you down in the general vicinity you were dispatched to, you would assume that they were the person you were sent to pick up! read more

We had a patron request a taxi at around 2330hrs last night to pick him up at the bank entrance of Polo park shopping center. 7 hrs and 3 more calls later and a taxi never showed up and he was forced to leave on a bus. this is complete inexcusable and reprehensible that this had happened, leave someone stranded at the mall all night. All phone called, 4 in total between 2330hrs and 0400hrs were placed. While I understand that the road conditions were bad last night due to the blizzard, there is no excise for this, none what so ever. I've personally seen some exceptionally poor conduct and service from this taxi company, but this? this is beyond anything I've seen before. It's almost criminal in it negligence. With garbage like this, it's no wonder more and more people are hoping for Uber to come to this city. I would give Zero stars if that was an option. read more

Very poorly managed. I've taken 3 taxis in the last few days and two of the three do not turn on the metre, asking for a flat fee. This is against the law. Luckily I knew what the fares were worth but they're clearly ripping off their employer. The Cabs don't seem to even have air conditioning in some and some are absolutely filthy. too bad they seem to have a corner on the market. This afternoon as I approached Young Trading notice car #035 parked in a loading docking zone, when ask him to move his vehicle he tells me he is waiting for a customer. That doesn't matter, there were 3 trucks sitting to get into dock area and after repeated attempts from Youngs Trading to have him move, he would not. I told him to move angrily and he steps out of his vehicle and gives me the finger, really you want to go that far, next time you will be towed as you were in a towing zone as well. Worst customer service! Just waited for a car for 40 minutes, called to see why it hadn't been sent and I was told someone tried to get in the car and didn't have money to pay?! I did not receive a call that the car had arrived so I was waiting in the backyard. How is this my fault that someone else tried to take my cab? I was told they will not send another car.
