We arrived here after an almost full day of traveling from New England. The Canadian customs and immigration systems are extremely efficient; long gone are the days of filling out customs paperwork by hand. You sit in front of a kiosk, and you compose your customs, declaration form, scan your passport, have your picture taken, and then you go greet a customs Inspector who asked me just a couple of questions about my length of travel, etc., and off I went. Outside, the wide open space of the Canadian plains was evident. No traffic, jams, no cars honking, just a pleasant day, waiting for a shuttle to a hotel, which came quickly. I understand that it may be company policy, but my car was repaired 7.5 Km from here, and I am told it is too far away for a drop off. After repeatedly confirming that the rental car needed to be returned to THIS location, I was just told that I should have returned it to a location closer to my body shop. It doesn't totally ruin my experience, but it sure does seem silly that something 7.5 km from here is deemed too far. I want to reiterate that the people working here are legit cool and helpful people. It's the policy that I take issue with.

This company charged their credit card almost $700 for a WEEKEND, 2 days and charged without communication of price or options, when returning the vehicle they wanted to charge for gas missing from the tank or we must go fill it, so, pay them extra for the gas they would fill anyway? And the cherry on top was they tried bribing my elderly relative to leave a good review here and Yelp and they would pay back the gas. Extremely scummy and petty, good to know so I will never rent from here. These business practices need to be reported and dealt with. This country is not run by scams or tricks. We need decent honest people to trust, not question when we need help and service.

Then, at the end of the race, we were all on the bus on time except for one couple, who were over a half hour late! Our whole bus had to wait on these 2 people that didn't think it was important to be there an hour after the flag. I would have LOVED to stay and see more of the celebrations! Provide us first timers, with all the information! We didn't know where to go around our hotel, could have used suggestions for dining and shopping. Didn't know about Carb Day and Autograph day, would have been really nice to know about that! Someone inside the park leading us around, letting us know where our seats were, easiest way to get to the pits, not just "find that tower and walk towards it". In addition I've used their services to obtain hard-to-find sports tickets in Atlanta, Washington DC and New York. When I first started using this agency they mostly specialized in hockey tours, but over the years they have expanded to include all major sporting events including the Olympics. Most of the tour packages include at least three hotel options based on your budget and the tickets that are offered are the authentic tickets printed by the sports venue or team and not some generic computer-generated ticket like what you would get from Ticketmaster or Tickets.com. There are always additional options that you can add onto your trips. I really enjoyed the All Star Game packages which all included a reception with Roadtrips staff and an appearance by local sports celebrities followed by autograph sessions and tours of other exciting venues in the host city. A Roadtrips staff member(s) is usually easily accessible in one of the host hotels to answer your questions. A one-of-a-kind gift was often included (in many cases autographed by a local sports legend) in the tour package. I imagine if I ever decide to attend the Indy 500 or a Super Bowl somewhere, I'll look to the friendly staff at Roadtrips first.

The following day, while driving on the highway in winter conditions, the rear window began malfunctioning and repeatedly went up and down on its own--even though I hadn't touched the windows. I called the Halifax location and spoke with the manager, Jamie, who instructed me to drive the vehicle all the way back to Halifax, despite the fact that I was past Middleton, NS (over 1.5 hours away). I was forced to drive for hours on the highway with the rear window fully down in freezing temperatures. The vibration made highway driving unsafe, and the cold exposure was severe despite having the heat on full blast. What should have been a simple fix turned into over four additional hours of unsafe driving, and I ended up getting sick afterward. When I returned the vehicle, I was initially offered only $30 in compensation, which didn't even cover fuel costs. After pushing back, this was increased to $100--barely covering the rental for the day and not accounting for gas, lost time, safety risks, or the overall ordeal. The replacement vehicle (a Nissan Rogue) was also disappointing. It had a strong unpleasant odor, inconsistent cruise control, and the exterior was extremely dirty--especially the passenger-side windows, which were so caked with dirt that visibility was affected. On top of this, the customer service was extremely poor. I was repeatedly placed on hold for over 30 minutes at a time with no explanation. During these long holds, I could hear staff talking in the background. Each time I would say, "Hello, is anyone there?", someone would suddenly respond and claim the issue had been "resolved," even though nothing had actually changed. It felt as though action was only taken once I spoke up, and even then, no real resolution was provided--just repeated responses without accountability. Overall, this was a very poor experience involving unsafe vehicle conditions, excessive delays, and inadequate customer service. I expected much better from Hertz and would not recommend this location based on my experience.

Trying to find a car rental that has pickup in Winnipeg and drop off in Hamilton was an absolute pain. I've never rented from Hertz before this time. First time customer b/c they offered drop off in Burlington Ontario (I think it's called Burlington) which is 15 min away from Hamilton. Anyhow I was just happy to have found a rental place that had this offer and for such a good price for a SUV. Normally I always rent from Enterprise But Enterprise kept coming back with ZERO search returns for my filter options. Now I will be including Hertz in my rental search options going forward. Good Job Hertz. TIP. ask hertz about their gas fill options. With gas prices so high. Right now as we speak. $1.68 (Winnipeg). $1.89 (Vancouver). The Hertz guy told me for about the opportunity to pre authorization for them to fill the tank at $1.60/litre. Even if price goes up. Or drop off in Ontario like I plan to do. Don't fill. Drop it and they will fill at that rate. Normally that would be a laughable offence. Not today haha.
