Fortunately, I also prefer to purchase responsibly farmed fruit and vegetables, so shops like Planet Organic make the once mundane task of food shopping now seemingly effortless. I have a special place in my heart for this particular Planet Organic, as it saw me through a rather awkward six weeks of my life after a plumbing disaster flooded my flat. I was forced to seek temporary housing in an unfamiliar neighbourhood I almost never ventured into. Even so, it was a pleasant surprise to find a familiar health food shop nearby, especially since this Planet Organic is their largest. Thankfully, it offered more than I could have imagined and I found myself popping in each morning on my way to the tube station for a fresh juice and again for a quick snack on my way back to my hotel at the end of each day. all natural yogurts (soy, too)...creamy and delicious refreshing juices and other healthy beverages fruits and veggies...seasonal, local, and responsibly farmed pasta...made from quinoa, spelt, rice, or wheat wheat-free biscuits...scrumptious and satisfying nuts and seeds...fresh and flavourful lotions...a nice variety of all natural and oil-free products for face and body hair care...all natural shampoos, conditioners, and colour treatments dental care...Neem toothpastes, dental tape, and breath fresheners There is too much more to mention, and some options will change with their seasonal availability. Portobello Wholefoods is tucked away in a dark corner under the railway bridge, at weekends you barely notice it. During the week it provides the perfect addition to the fruit and veg stalls along Portobello Road. They stock everything you'd expect from a decent health food store at OK prices. One of the highlights for me includes the large selection of loose teas; I'd be lost without my fix of vanilla or mango tea in the morning! You can go hardcore with green and herbal as well, of course. All tastes and dietry requirements catered for.

Sometimes I find shops like this can be limited, but Wholefoods always seems to have exactly what I'm looking for. I mainly come for the amazing choice of vitamins and supplements as although I'm not a vegetarian I really don't see the point of taking something that's meant to be good for you, but actually has weird animal additives added or is encased in a gelatin shell (last time I checked boiled animal skin and bones really don't do anything for you). Also, I've met a lot of different staff and they are all eager to help with their wealth of knowledge on all things healthy. It's probably a tad more expensive to shop here, so you should stick to getting your more mundane items such as dried fruit from the supermarket, but for something a little bit special it's perfect. Why not try the gelatin free raspberry jelly or the fortified mineral water (you take your own bottles to fill and pay by the litre). Another great idea is that they don't automatically give you carrier bags at the till. There are a few used ones available if you really need one, but why not follow their lead and bring your own canvas bag to fill up.

They used to have a lunch buffet bar in the back which was very good and we would go there to buy our vitamins and herbs.I don't live in London anymore and have not been there for decades so I'm not sure how the shop is anymore but it is definitely a part of the history of the wholistic health movement in London. I just went in for a look but after being found out for being Australian by a super lovely Australian girl working there, we were chatting and she mentioned that they did great Acai bowls. I am a sucker for a good Acai bowl and hadn't had one for a while so despite not being hungry, I decided to get the Nourish Me bowl on Ruby's recommendation. For 8 pounds, I got the most delicious bowl topped with granola, almond butter, hemp seeds and fresh blueberries and raspberries - heaven! The acai was thick and didn't melt which is rare! I haven't had one with almond butter before and it gave the acai an extra creamy feel. Clean and Lean also had some great looking salads and sweet treats on the counter which I would have been tempted by, if I had been at all hungry. They also do Paleo toast, if that's your thing. I was also assured that their coffee was good too, but I can't vouch for that! Yes Clean and Lean is one of those super healthy places filled with fit looking people in their activewear but that doesn't mean that their food isn't delicious. Because it is.

I have been there first time, hence wanted to see what they have. Quickly I have noticed that products are well over priced. Lady asked me if I need any help, and I asked for Matcha, as she was visibly getting annoyed by my scrolling through the shop, and I felt obligated to purchase something. She have offered me a 40g bag of matcha and priced it for £12! I have politely told her that I can buy 500g of matcha for almost the same on Amazon. She kicked off, telling me that I am wasting her time, what I came here and that I am rude. Seriously, I have a tick skin, so not bothered too much, and wouldn't even write the review, but I thought about other people who want to go there and may not have such a resilience for bullying behaviour, and how it could affect their day! Products overpriced, too many of them, and all over the place. To top it up, very, very, very rude lady working there. I have read other reviews and they all the same, not sure how this business still runs. You lady, you should be ashamed of yourself speaking to people like that, life hasn't teach you much.

They also have message chairs downstairs and offer a 5 minute taster. I will also say that this shop has a largish selection of beauty products downstairs like Jason and Green People. I would come here again and buy my favourite soymilk on their sale display. I don't know why I don't love this store. Maybe I should try their pollen drink called Winter Anecdote.

I always get a crepe and a smoothie soooo delicious! The savoury crepe with mozzarella and pesto is to-die-for. Plus they have an excellent range of teas (a big plus point for me) and a cute little clothes shop downstairs (for women). It makes me smile when I walk past it as it's the best independent cafe in West Hampstead and really friendly. In fact, I want to go now!
