I'm happy with the stone but the experience and install cost was not with it. I purchased quartz counters with install. I though I was saving money buy using these guys. At the store they said they would remove my existing counters. It was not on my receipt and the contractor that came asked for an addition $1000 to remove the countertops. I would have just used Home Depot if I knew I had to go through all this. I ended up refusing to pay the 1K and removed the counters myself. It was a big headache and a lot of trouble. The install overshoots in a few locations which I did not like. Also I had extra pieces of stone since you buy slabs and the left all the trash in my garage. They don't install the sink, just cut the hole. FYI If they promise removal get it in witting. Or save yourself the headaches and just have your own installer do the work. Lastly I got charged per hole for the facet and soap dispenser, they did not even need to cut any holes just a large opening for the drop in sink. read more

It would be a zero review if I could. I was recommended to this place by a person that I didn't know gets kickbacks from the owner at the time. I thought it would be great to get all our materials, cabinets, and stone since it was so convenient. We did all the ordering and everything was a go to start our kitchen renovation. Come to installation day - not all the items were in good condition. The stones slabs which were super expensive had marks and a few chips - which I didn't notice until it was installed. During the second ordering process for our renovation, we ordered more stone for the restroom, and I didn't know there were chips on the stone slabs until it was too late - it was all installed. Looks like the contractor works with Uni and doesn't care in what condition we get the materials in. Long story short, we decided to not use the contractor anymore because on top of getting kickbacks from Uni, he was a terrible worker (off topic). I went back for the 3rd time to Uni to get some matching material to redo some of the bad work. All of a sudden, the co-owner tells me that he will have to charge me 10X what the original cost of the material I got before was. He claims it's due to the new tariff taxes. He was taking advantage of the system and making excuses. This was outrageous. We have a scammer that works with contractors for kickbacks, doesn't care about the quality of the products sold, and then he wants to charge me extra when I come back for the exact item I had before. He then tries to sell me more items in order to get the cost lower. I walked out. And I have learned my lesson to never come back to this business. read more

If I could give no stars I would. I spent thousands of dollars on my kitchen counter top to find out i cannot place ANYTHING on it without it etching/ staining even though I sealed them and they were supposed to be installed pre sealed. The workers did a horrible/ sloppy job putting them in and left their grout on the new countertop which stained it ..I called and they basically told me im stuck with it and they will not do anything about it. I went here based on reviews from yelp & boy was I disappointed! I was prepared to buy a few granite slabs for my kitchen remodel. I stood there for a while trying to flag down one of the 20 workers to complete my purchase (NOT ask a question). No one showed any interest in helping me, finally i walked over to the counter where I saw 10 workers babbling & laughing (in Chinese) I asked for help and they said they couldn't help me. As i was about to walk out Kai finally said he was free to help. In the end granite price + install was about the same as Home Depot believe it or not. Granite was all about the same price, although they had some higher end stuff which I didn't bother looking at. Most granite is standard bull nose. Here's a breakdown of granite prices to save yourself the time: 96"x52" = $599.00 96" x 36"= $219.00 108" x 26"= $219.00 96" x 26" $189.00 the quote they gave me for just the granite installation on my tiny 7'x7' kitchen was $1,200 for labor! ridiculous! If you dont do install they gouge you and charge $90 for each cut. I suggest checking out East Star Building Co. in Bayview, their prices were about half and customer service was awesome. I ended up buying my granite from them. read more

I used to shop there more but due to not wanting to return my refund in cash or credit, rather than give me store credit, I choose not to shop there as much. My last visit was with-in the past month but it was just for some small items, cabinet handles to be exact. During that visit, I notice that a few employees have since left and worked at other locations I shop at. They carry outdated cabinets, stones and their customer service is crap! If you need fancy showrooms and hand-holding, this is not the place for you. However, if you're assertive and after a good bargain, then I highly recommend Uni-Stone! My fiance and I were in search of quality kitchen cabinets and granite countertops without the Home Depot or Thomasville prices. I worked with William who was simply superb! He was incredibly patient and thorough. His colleague created the visual diagram of our kitchen and then they ordered the pieces. We needed the cabinets ASAP, as our contractor was leaving town. William was able to get our cabinets delivered within 3-4 days! The only issue we had was with the right corner cabinet, which was made for the left-hand side. William provided us with a credit for the error. Granite installation was also a breeze - thanks to William. NOTE: Be prepared to dress warm, as the warehouse is VERY cold, esp. during the winter time. Also, I recommend going here on weekdays vs. weekends, as the latter tends to be busy and chaotic. read more

Great prices, and a humungous selection of colors/styles of granite countertops. It's the best place to go for very reasonable prices if you want bullnosed edges on your granite. Problem is, Of the 31 different colors of granite or so, they only had two or three granite colors with squared edges. Darn. I was looking for square edged granite countertops. I used my own contractor for installation, but sourced quartz countertops and cabinets from these guys for both a guest kitchenette and then my main kitchen. I went in a few times to look at what they had and grab some chunks of counter samples (they have lots of samples you can just grab and take with you, which makes it much easier to look at in your own space while planning or shopping for other materials) and they were always available without being overbearing - Anthony helped me with a few quotes, and when I was ready to order, John was super helpful and mapped out the kitchenette design so we could be sure everything fit the right way and provided the printouts that I could give my contractor. They were very clear about the process - that it would take a day or so for them to build the cabinets so to give them a call a couple days before we were ready to pick up for installation. He even helped me identify the right sink to fit the new cabinet space. And they allowed me to return an extra filler piece I purchased just in case which we didn't up needing. When it came to my main kitchen I only needed countertops from them, but it was a bit complicated so I had to change my order TWICE to get the right pieces (Alex helped when Anthony was on his day off), and they had to ship an island piece from their Hayward location which they did within 2 days. They had 2 islands brought up just in case and were accommodating about us looking at all the pieces together when we picked up to be sure there were no color variations. AND they were totally cool with the multiple changes. Overall, would highly recommend these guys for sourcing materials. The quality is solid, inventory availability is good and speedy, and customer service from everyone I worked with is spot-on. read more

Do not buy tile from this company. I just remodeled 4 bathrooms. The tile I got from them was all in different color shades.Same pattern but some are lighter or darker. There was no way I could match this color to put in any single bathroom. Finally I have to tore down all the tiles I got from them . Waste money and labor. I have to paid twice for each bathroom to have it done. No matter what your contractor said, buy it in Home Depot or place that can return. read more

It took me awhile to warm up to Uni. My initial reaction was "too big, too crowded, too hard to park, and too hard to get someone's attention." BUT I am glad I didn't write it off, because this is a terrific place to shop for natural-stone tile (ceramic and porcelain selections are small), granite, vanities, and the like. The prices really can't be beat (a vanity, granite top, and sink will cost you about half what a much poorer quality vanity alone runs at Home Depot or Lowes), and the service can be equally unbeatable. Your customer service experience will likely depend on when you decide to visit Uni. Weekends and peek contractor hours are not good choices unless you like crowds and a bit of chaos. PIck a different time. As for service, I was lucky enough to be helped by Chelsea, who provides the kind of assistance one would expect from an associate at a high-end bathroom and kitchen boutique -- sans the high-prices! She is really superb. Not only does she know her merchandise inside and out, but she has an eye for detail and does not hesitate to point out things you may not have noticed/considered. And she is is genuinely nice too. Uni does charge a fairly steep restocking fee, so choose wisely. if you are remodeling, put Uni on your list of stores that you must visit before making your final selections. I went there many times during our home remodeling, bought slate tiles for my deck, price is $0.99 SF, very good price compared to all other places, quality is solid natural rock slate, same as sold elsewhere at double or triple prices. They have a very wide selections of materials at very good prices. The service is bad, you just have to expect that before you go there, but I think all bldg. supply places have bad services. No need to try to flag down any workers, they will not even look at you, you need to walk up to the counter, don't just stand there and wait, you need to find the opportunity to ask for help, once you engage a counter staff, he/she can be very helpful all the way. But trying to find someone knowledgeable to help in Lowe's and HD can be even harder, frankly they are not nice either, this Uni has 100 times more varieties and cheaper. Bottomline, service may seem rude and bad, but prices very good, more choices, you may save hundreds, but are you tough enough to handle it? is a smiling face worth $100s or $1000s extra cost of your money? read more

I had to deal with these folks for granite, tile and flooring. I didn't save that much money. I had to run papers from one desk to another and was ignored every time I had a question. Even when I called, I was ignored. I had to go into CRAZY BLACK GIRL MODE just to get someone to allow me to choose the granite I had just paid $400.00 dollars for! I plopped down thousands of dollars with these guys and I NEVER got more than a grunt. Next time, I am going to Home Depot where I can get some decent help. Be smarter than I was. The prices here are pretty reasonable for granite as it seems all Chinese contractors go here. They sell several types of granite tops, sinks and vanity sets. Incredible prices, great installation but you definitely need to pay attention and be assertive especially during the picking out of your granite. We just had our new granite countertops installed yesterday for a total price about a third of other estimates. We are thrilled and we were worried because the price was so good. The shopping experiece can be chaotic especially on saturday mornings. The sales clerks we found to be helpful but won't approach you and they are always busy and will rush you along if you don't push for clarification. Yes, everyone who works there is Asian and we are not but we didn't find that an issue other than on some commications. We worked with John and he was always busy and always trying to get us to come back another time which we were not interested in doing. After sketching our kitchen we were advised to get one left bull-nose counter piece and one right bull-nose piece. After purchasing and reserving our granite we got home and realized we needed two left bull-nose pieces. So I returned and found John (on a Saturday morning) and he helped me pick out new pieces. John also made sure the back splash pieces matched and were held. When I called to confirm our installation a day before our appointment John immediately remembered our order. Because of the shopping experience we were worried about the installation being rushed or sloppy and it was anything but. Our lead installer was Kevin and his assistant Mr. Wong. While Kevin's english was limited he was meticulous about the installation and made sure everything was perfect. Kevin spent hours ensuring our undermount sink was perfectly positioned and it is! He also expertly worked to make sure the one seam we have is virtually invisible. One small hiccup was that we had paid to have the installers also install the plywood base and it was on our purchase order but for some reason when the installers showed up they didn't show that on their order or have the wood. But they rushed back to the store and picked up the wood and came back in 15 minutes. Overall, if you are not afraid to assert yourself and don't need or want your hand to be held throughout the process you can get a great new countertop at an unbelieveable price. If you are not detailed oriented and not willing to be an active participant you would be better off going wtih a full service establishment. read more

The cabinets were more expensive than Liberty Building Supply but the customer liked uni's Color. The pull out shelves were not installed and were a hassle to install because they were the wrong size. Some of the nice dovetail joint pull outs were hacked up(made smaller) with what looked like a hand saw and put together with finish nails. They lost the order for installing counter tops but were able to send a couple guys out that spoke no english. They cut the counter too small then had to put big gaps at the ends, The granite was shy of the cabinet on one side of the stove and proud on the other. The installer kept insisting that the opening was 30" wide but the granite did not line up with edge of the cabinets. The side edge of the tops was cut and polished at an angle. Almost an 1/8" out of square in a 1 1/2" is terrible. When we tried to point out issues the installers they just talked to themselves in Chinese and ignored the designer, contractor and our real professional tile installer. The terrible customer service and unprofessional attitude especially to the interior designer was appalling. I had to spend 4 hours trying to get them to fix the lousy install. Calling uni marble didn't help and they said they would call be back but never did. Never again UNI read more

Beware of their tactics. When you pick out a counter take it with you as soon as possible or risk having them swap another granite on you. Don't tear out your kitchen until you have the granite in your possession. This way you are not at their mercy and have to take what they give you or be stuck without a kitchen. Very shady business tactics and I would not use them again. In the end my kitchen is beautiful but that was because my contractor made it work not Uni-Tile. read more

Horrible, Disrespectful Staff. Do yourself a favor and stay away from Uni Stone on Alemany blvd. Went in today to pick Quartz and asked one woman if she could show me where the style of Island top was and she gave me a look of frustration that I even asked. She did help me though, but seemingly reluctantly. But then when I actually wanted to purchase and put on hold some Quartz tops I was directed by the man at the counter to bring the tag out to the guys in the yard. None of these guys even spoke a word of English and they were not quite sure what I wanted. They showed me some tops and then took me back inside to the man at the Desk who seemed bothered that there was some confusion, spoke a word to the yard guy who then burst out in Chinese looking at me like I just Raped his Mother. I could not understand why this rude, disrespectful yard guy was screaming, seemingly at me. It was obvious that the man behind the desk was embarrased and tried to calm the situation down, but now I thought to myself, "what the Hell did I do?" All I wanted to do was to buy some tops. I then asked myself, do I really feel like giving these guys a $1000 buck after getting screamed at. I told them they had HORRIBLE service and staff, and left. Now Ive been in the trades for 30+ years, Remodled and worked on all kinda of beautiful homes in San Francisco and worked with some awesome subs and suppliers. To go into Uni Stone and have some forklift driver scream and embarass me is a new low in Service. So my advice to anyone considering going down to Uni Stone on Alemany blvd. Don't. Go somewhere where the staff is helpful and friendly, Not Rude and Disrespectful. I dont care how cheap their prices are. read more

They have a huge selection of granite counter tops however, their tiles weren't necessarily the nicest looking. Their cabinets are okay and they have a nice little showroom. I admit I had a bad first impression of the "owner-lady" the first time I visited this shop. In the end everything became a positive experience here. especially since I came back and forth here so many times during the past two months. This is the store I got most of my remodeling needs, in particular the granites, tiles, and cabinets for the kitchen and bathroom. My contractor felt the granite quality here is better than another shop that I was contemplating.
