Under the leadership of Kru Rick, the atmosphere is welcoming, respectful, and inclusive. I started at rock bottom. Exhausted and carrying extra weight, I couldn't manage a single push-up, yet I was treated like part of the team from day one. The coaches are knowledgeable and offer thoughtful feedback. Classes are challenging and fun, and the people here are wonderfully supportive and encouraging. I started for physical fitness and stayed because Muay Thai has had such a positive impact on me mentally. A year and a half flew by and I'm down 30 lbs and feel stronger and more confident in my body. Muay Thai is healing. I've had a rough several years, and training has helped me work through fear and other difficult emotions. Over time, I've become more resilient and grounded. I genuinely love this sport and it has changed me in ways I didn't expect.

They are very willing to help you improve and generally nice and encouraging to everyone. Coach Ermias, was been great with me so far and encouraging me to work hard. The other gym members are nice people as well. It has only been three classes but I feel like I am learning and improving my terrible conditioning and form. If you having some hesitation or other concerns, just try your hardest and show your drive to be better!

I've done wrestling, boxing, and kickboxing here. I liked the intro to boxing here but to be honest this is definitely a fighter oriented gym. They cater to the fighters before just regular gym goers and that's fine, it just meant I'm not their target clientele. Coach JR and Coach Ermias are really talented and good at what they do, if you do happen to go I'd say train with them or attend their classes. They know their stuff and are serious about their craft but willing to teach you. I only tried the wrestling once or twice but the coach for that is good as well for complete newbies. It's intimidating but not impossible you just have to try it. Definitely don't come here just to socialize like some people use the gym for. People are here to train and often shoot demo reels here. The owner trains across the world so like I said they're very focused on their fighters here. If that's what you're looking for and you have a background in fighting or want to seek it for your career I'd recommend this place, but for the average person who wants to take a boxing class it might be a little intimidating.

My whole family has signed up for classes and we LOVE this school. This particular location has…read moredone a soft opening, so if you go there right now (October 2021), take into consideration that the studio isn't finished yet. That being said, the staff are all working at the Elk Grove location as well so you can know the high quality you'll get with this team. Floyd and Phil are so helpful and patient. These are the guys you'll probably first get to know when you come in and check out the place. You know immediately that these men both care about getting you set up for what your family needs. Mimi is the front desk boss. She is always ready to help with account questions, uniform and supply needs, and just about anything else. Mr. Michael (AKA Captain America) is the youngest instructor on the staff but you wouldn't know it if you were judging his knowledge or his abilities. He's proven to be fantastic with the younger kids and I've even trained with him myself and he gives the student exactly what they need every time. He slows down when the student needs it but he will also turn up the intensity if he sees the student can handle it. Mister Isaki is the head instructor at Elk Grove, and Mister Jason is the head instructor at Sacramento. These guys are both incredible teachers. They've worked wonders with my son in particular. My son is 8 and a gamer by nature. He typically has little to no interest in physical activity. These two teachers have taken time to push him when he needs it, pull him aside for extra instruction from time to time, and they're also very deliberate about celebrating his efforts publicly. Master Liner is the owner and head instructor for both schools (the boss man). He shows up at classes really often. After he makes rounds greeting parents and students, checking in on how everyone is feeling about their time at PMA, he will then usually teach the class for a bit. He's so good at explaining how to get each part of a move or technique and also WHY it's important to do it that way. I HIGHLY recommend Premiere Martial Arts and am excited to see this new location fully open and hit the ground running.

Premier Martial Arts…read morecontinued charging my account even after my contract period ended and then renewed the membership without my permission. I never authorized any renewal, yet the charges kept appearing. When I called to explain the situation and try to resolve it, the staff was extremely unprofessional and actually hung up on me while I was trying to explain what was happening. Instead of helping fix the issue, they avoided the conversation completely. Because the unauthorized charges continued and I couldn't get any proper assistance, I was forced to block my accounts just to stop them from taking more money. This kind of billing practice and customer service is unacceptable. No customer should have to deal with unauthorized renewals, ignored concerns, and being hung up on when trying to resolve a billing problem. I strongly recommend that anyone considering signing up read the contract very carefully and keep a close eye on their billing. Based on my experience, I would not recommend this business.

I had been itching for a while to learn a new fighting style as well. First, I have to mention that the place is kind of tucked away in the back of a complex. I wish it was more visible from the street, as I probably would've come in sooner. The facility is a good size, and a lot cleaner and more orderly than I've seen at other martial arts gyms. There's plenty of space in the back to store any belongings, and the area for parents and spectators is positioned strategically in the corner as well, so there isn't too much congestion at the front where people have to check in. There's a small mat for beginners and a much bigger mat for the more experienced fighters. There's also a fighting ring for the fight team. The coaches were very welcoming on my first day, and Coach Ash, the owner, even took note that I had previous experience in another style. He used that knowledge to personalize my learning track, which I appreciate a lot. I had come in with several people from my work, and in seeing that we were a group, he even customized a pricing structure to incentivize us to all sign up together. While I know that isn't at all what he is obligated to do as a business owner, it's refreshing to know that someone will try to meet you somewhere in between versus just waiting for you to come to them. In the teen and adult class, so far it feels like it leans more on the teen side (I'm 34), but I hope that will push me to keep up. I've already signed up for a year (great deal per class, and they work with you in case you can't make some classes) and have gotten bruises on my leg. Looking forward to more!

This studio has genuinely become a special place for me…read more I've taken classes with most of the instructors here, and every single one has been welcoming, supportive, and truly focused on their clients. They motivate without pressure and always remind you to slow down, breathe, and surrender to the mat. In a joking way, I tell people that all of them have become my therapists, because somehow they always share the exact words I need at the right time. Over time, I've come to really see and hear the instructors and the heart they put into every class. I appreciate them more than they probably realize. Walking in feels less like going to a workout and more like showing up to see family. What stands out most to me is the awareness of mental health and emotional wellbeing. The way they combine movement, breath, and mindfulness makes each class feel like much more than just a workout. It truly feels like a space to heal. On a personal note, this studio has become an important part of my sobriety journey. The grounding, the sweat, the stillness, and the encouragement have helped me process, reset, and keep choosing healthier paths. I leave feeling clearer, calmer, and supported. If you're looking for a studio that challenges you physically while supporting you as a whole person, this is the place. I'm so grateful I found it. Thank you Carrie, Rodney, Mary, Amy, Lowella, Asnah, Vicky, Vanessa, Ron, Hallie, Lilian, Laura, Lydda, and the rest of the amazing Uplift team. From the bottom of my heart to yours, namaste.

The family business vibe that kept me for 6 years was minimal. The owner (Patrick) turned into a MAGA keyboard warrior. I avoided Patrick's classes because it was 45 min of stretching and 15 min of workout. Coach Kirby's classes kept me going since my strength gains were worth it (and you don't need to take your shoes off for strength training lol). There was no point in coming here after the last certified personal trainer quit their strength program and more women gradually left. I would rather drive more to train at a different gym (more than one Muay Thai & strength gyms exist in Sacramento) than come here. I don't mind the cost as long as I am in a clean facility and the vibe is worth it. The only reason they have one star left is for Coach P. - he is a good Muay Thai coach and a rockstar. I didn't really go to Coach Rocci's classes until last year, but the few times I did his music was the best for sparring. Pro tip: use a different personal FB account to post political content where gym members can't see them. Regardless of whether people agree/disagree with your views, there is a level of professionalism needed if you want to be a successful business owner.
