I've been here a few times when I come out to Truckee Thursdays. Surprisingly with their vast selection, they are very limited in French wines. The first time I came, I first ordered a glass from Italy - I was NOT a fan. The waitress suggested to try a flight so I can taste the rest of their red offerings. They DO NOT offer tastes. I didn't like any of them. I left quite disappointed and my friend who ended up drinking all my wine was a bit tipsy. haha We did come back on a shopping trip to Truckee and stopped by to wind down. To my pleasant surprise, they had a French wine from Côtes du Rhône. It was fantastic and priced reasonably at $13/glass. It would be nice if they shared their menu online so we can check it out before our visit. Nice ambiance and Nick our server was really nice. Oh and try their salt and vinegar chips... super salty and super vinegary and SUPER addicting! read more

I have been drinking wine my entire adult life. I lived in Europe and took the wine for granted. I have been living in Oceanside, CA and come up to Tahoe area about once a year. My first visit to Uncorked Truckee I met the owner, Chris, who was behind the bar at the time alongside another member of his team. I mentioned I was up from San Diego area and he commented that he had spent time in San Diego as well. After a few formalities, he asked what I liked to drink and I was brutally honest that I really did not know what I liked. After a few more questions, he suggested a flight that way I could better understand what I liked/didn't like. After a few different ones and me telling me what I liked about them (or didn't like about them), he told me that he suspects that he understands my palate and proceeded to show me his skill of linking his deep knowledge of every wine he has with what I did not know I liked. I was amazed with his suggestions with only a few flight glasses. I call him for wine advice and he ships the wine, he remembers what I liked and continues to put wine in front of me that tastes great. A couple years ago he even called me up and mentioned that he had ordered a specific Bichi wine that I really enjoyed and I could get a case if I wanted - I was ecstatic because I tried looking for it (even phoning Uncorked to see if they had any left) and thought I would never see it again. Retail establishments that are that dedicated to the customer are normally reserved for the expensive street. Uncorked bucks that trend. Their service and wine knowledge is second to none. I am still a wine novice and without experts like Uncorked, I would have missed out on some pretty special bottles that did not break the bank. Thank you for what you do! How much do I like this place? Heck, we went twice in one day! Easily, if we hadn't left town before their opening time of noon, it would have been two days. I understand that the price of rent and products are probably pretty steep in Truckee, but $22 for that plate of food was over the top. I run two businesses so I appreciate an owners struggle. Provide more for the price, and I'd have no qualms paying it. Six crackers and small pieces of cheese along with three other crackers just doesn't cut it. The service was absolutely with a smile and there was only one person working, who was really nice, but it was still very, very slow. Uncorked is a super cute wine bar in downtown truckee. I don't make it down often (since I have two small kiddos), but when I do have some time alone and feel like a glass of wine, this is my go to place. They have a real nice selection of wine by the glass and also sell bottles. They also have a wine club (who doesn't like that?!?). My last visit was last week and it was a crowded but was able to grab the last seat at the bar. The bartender was super nice and gave some great recommendations. Also, love the meat and cheese plate! Definitely worth a try if you are looking for a chill place to get a glass of wine. Just to note, while they have tables and you could bring kiddos, I personally wouldn't. read more

Horrible service. Had 30 minutes before our dinner reservation so we walked the town and found Uncorked. We sat at the bar - not busy at all and waited 15 minutes before I asked the helper - not the bartender if we could get service. The bartender (older guy; my age) heard the request and became super aggressive that I would dare ask for help - he did it in such a cocky nature that his actions toward an A personality like my wife and I was not going to go without action. When he stopped what he was doing and asked what we'd like, my wife paused for a second and said "nothing - let's go"! We got up to leave and the smart ass said "have a great night" which we responded "count on it - we will". Tired of poor service from knuckleheads. If the person I pointed out is the owner of Uncorked - "check your attitude and realize you are in the service business"! If the owner is reading this review - I hope it helps you and your team. Great selection of both US and imported wines, heavy on localish options, and a small selection of beer and ale as well. Both recent times I've stopped in, the staff was quite knowledge and able to help pick out a bottle that met my (pretty detailed) criteria. Inside the space is great with bottle options lining two walls and a long beautiful bar for inside seating. Very cozy modern feel. Order a bottle and the staff with open it for you and provide glasses for taking to one of a couple of outside tables on the sidewalk in front. Came here on a Sunday around 1:30pm. Steady amount of people coming and going. Did a 3 wine tasting then two glasses of one of the white wines that I loved! We also ordered the cheese board which was delicious. The staff were extremely knowledgeable about wine and spoke so passionately when describing each wine to us. They have sooooo many bottle options to take home and I left with a delicious Spanish wine and at a very reasonable price. I cannot wait to come back and try some more wines! read more

I went to Truckee for a weekend girls trip.. We were super excited to visit uncorked!. Once we got there one of the employees advise us that they would not be able to accommodate our party if we wanted to order flights, because they did not have enough wine glasses. He stated they needed the glasses for the customers that came in and it would take up too much time! Keep in mind we are customers that came in! If I could give zero stars, I would. I went to Truckee for a girls cabin trip, and was so excited to wine taste. As we entered, uncorked, the excitement was not reciprocated. First of all it took a little while before the bartender even spoke to us after that the manager comes out and proceeds to tell us that he would not be able to service us flights if we wanted. When we tried to come up with other ways to still have the flight served but in one glass, he didn't like that idea, which doesn't make any sense. We did find a good wine and purchased a bottle, but would have been open to tasting 3 more wines and maybe purchasing 3 more for a dinner party with friends. The server seemed bothered if a question was asked of him. He only poured but offered no input or knowledge of any of the wines. You are on your own here. Drove from Reno to have a nice Sunday wine tasting for date day with my love and unfortunately I was very disappointed.... not by the wine, the decor, or the selection, but by the staff vibes and treatment. While seemingly polite there was definitely some judgement, maybe because were a 22/23 year old couple and this was our first wine tasting so we didn't really know much, who knows. I just felt uncomfortable, slightly judged, and pressured. My boyfriend asked for a recommendation and it was kind of cold.... just felt like I needed to rush and chug my wine and leave. On the other hand, there are a ton of wines to choose from both on the menu and along the walls. There is also a $20 and under selection with quite a bit of wines! I liked that a lot. The menu has a tasting trio for $12 for anything on the menu, that was just enough to taste and get a real feel for it. Just wish the overall experience were a little better. When I first asked about the "trio" the lady looked at me like I was clueless then replied that they had a "try three wines for $12".... okay work with me a little. I stopped in to ask the young woman behind the bar for a restaurant recommendation and ended up staying longer to check out this ultra hip place. This gem features a wide variety of some eclectic and boutique wines. I wish I had gotten the name of the woman who helped us as she suggested a super place to eat down the street (Marg's Taco Bistro) which was a great choice. We found this spot while waiting for our dinner reservation and we're glad we found it! They have a taster option where you can get three tastes for $12, which I went with. The bartender was friendly and well spoken about the wines I was tasting and the wineries they came from. I really liked one of their Santa Barbara roses and it was nice to be able to buy a bottle to take home. I think that you can purchase any of the wines that you taste.
