The food comes out fast, and the food is what you would expect from a drive-in style burger joint from yesteryear. The original location is near Georgia Tech and is huge. It has a retro feel without feeling old. I got a bacon double cheeseburger with fresh cut fries. The food was good and beyond cheap. The have chili dogs, onion rings and shakes as well. Cool place, good food but nothing that will amaze you.

It was shocking how much the quality of the food and service had declined. Shrinkflation was real. The only thing that remained the same was the historic atmosphere, and if that is all that this generation relies on to carry this icon into the future, I believe your prospects are limited. Frank Gordy and his operating philosophy, which he stated clearly when receiving the Atlanta Salesman of the Year Award in 1979, was built around quality and fairness: "I built my business around quality and fairness. We never change the quality or the taste of Varsity food; our food must be the same every day. And we greet our customers with courtesy and serve them quickly. We let them know we appreciate their business. So there's no secret to our success. Anyone will be successful if they build their business around quality and fairness." CAN THE MANAGEMENT SAY THAT HIS VISION IS STILL IN PLACE TODAY????? Based on my experience on Saturday, I can tell you that your team has only lost the original philosophy; they have lost their way, plain and simple, and are headed for a major failure. It will be a sad day when I read about the doors closing on this icon.

My food was prepared quickly, and the wait was minimal. The hot dogs were flavorful and tasted good--while I wouldn't describe them as exceptional, I was not disappointed with the taste. My biggest concern was the cleanliness of the establishment. Unfortunately, once I looked beyond the counter, I noticed what appeared to be significant buildup of grease, dirt, and grime on the floors, walls, and areas surrounding where the food is prepared. The condition of the space was alarming and gave the impression that deep cleaning and maintenance have been neglected for a very long time. I had already placed my order and didn't want to cancel, but the unsanitary appearance made it difficult to enjoy the experience. It also left me questioning how the location maintains its posted health inspection rating. The food itself was fine, and the staff member was pleasant, but the overall cleanliness of the facility is a serious issue that management should address immediately. One additional note: the hot dogs seemed somewhat overpriced for their size. While the flavor was good, the portion-to-price ratio did not feel like a great value. Based on my experience, I would return only if there were clear improvements to the cleanliness and upkeep of the restaurant.

There's so many varieties of dogs here - all beef, chicken, brisket, corn dogs and even plant-based vegetarian options. No matter which style you like - Chicago, New York, San Francisco, etc. - there's a version you'll enjoy or build your own. Combos include a drink and side - slaw, fries, beans. This isn't the spot to be healthy but for some good junk food. Service was mid. The cashier didn't greet us or ask if we had questions about the menu. Instead the first thing she said was - it'll be a 10 minute wait. It wasn't clear why she said that - the time to cook or fry my food? Before you can take my order? What's 10 minutes in the big picture when I'm in a food hall and could easily walk away. We stayed and took our buzzer that alerts you when the order is up. I informed the cook - don't say anything about 10 minutes to wait, just take the order. It's not welcoming and everyone knows food needs to be prepared. Aside from that, we had a great visit and enjoyed the food.

It's in a food hall so where it's at you have free parking. It's a really nice building and it looks like it was a food hall building that won some awards for aesthetics so it's very nice to look at. You'll come in and there's nobody to greet you, but there are people walking around and people behind the stalls and you have plenty of options to pick from. And it's kind of a multi-room situation because one part of the establishment has a lot of the food hall stalls and the other part of it has a couple stalls, some rooms you can probably reserve, and a very large bar. They have plenty of specials on some signage screens so if you go in just be aware of that. They have events like happy hour and music being played on a live situation and some other thing so just keep that in mind. Anyway, specifically about the hot dog situation, I ordered and got a beeper when it was ready. I got it and it was okay. It seemed like it was more chilly than it was dog. And because I'm from Michigan, I'm very critical on what a Coney dog should be like. Do you want the hot dog to be covered but not drowned in the chili. So not that it's bad but as you can guess this got pretty messy LOL. I thought it was tasty. It's not like home but it was pretty good. When I try other hot dogs from there, I would actually. I definitely would. It was a pretty good experience because I got the wok and see what other places were there so that was nice. But I had to do the Coney because it reminded me a little bit of home LOL.
