I placed my order and handed over a £10 note which the lady serving shouted to the chef behind her "where's the pen gone" referring to the detector ultra violet light pen to test the £10 note for fraud purposes. Whilst I fully understand and support the need to check this type of fraud it is very embarrassing when in a shop full of people to challenge the customer hold the notes to the light and continue to accuse me of such an fraudulent activity when she did not have the correct tools to do so. Eventually the £10 note was accepted and "she couldn't really tell" but "it looked like a false note" and said "it may have been washed". This situation was very embarrassing for me and although there is a notice regarding £50 note fraud by the till there is nothing else. By all means check the notes but have the right tools to do so and the staff that have been trained to deal with this situation as whether it was fake or not you would have lost more money by lack of our custom than the one £10 note due to your staffs ignorant and unprofessional behaviour. We ate in and she got our order wrong too !! I do require an apology. read more
