They have a good range of sandwiches as you'd expect. The shops not that big and they are always busy 7 days a week. You can't eat in here but you can at the sandwich shop next door (see my review of Benjy's), still even with the direct competition they do a great trade. make sure you check out their website for special offer vouchers you can print off.

They do a great range of baguettes , and I like to treat myself to a spot of lunch there. Prices are very reasonable and the staff very friendly. In fact writing this review has reminded me that I haven't popped in there in a while so I think I shall have to treat myself.

This is one of my favorite restaurants...ever :)…read more The thing I particularly loved (and I think they're famous for) was the Kasesuppe, or beer soup. It was so rich and flavorful and cheesy and delicious..unlike anything I've ever tried before or since. It's hard to describe exactly what it's like (since it's different from any other soup I've tried) but suffice it to say we both (my boyfriend and I) absolutely loved it. This was on a road trip my bf and I took to Portsmouth btw, and I want to come back to the city just to go to this restaurant again! :) We also got a Croque Reuben (sandwich for me, large portion), Pork Belly (for him), Manniere Moules et Frites (mussels dish - Classic moules with garlic butter, white wine and parsley, served with toasted sourdough), Brugse Zot Sport (beer for him), Kwak (Kwak amber beer, cream, orange and fennel for me) and Orangina. The main dishes of pork belly (Pork belly slowly roasted in Lindemans Apple beer, served with Stoemp and seasonal vegetables, finished with apple beer and mustard reduction) and Reuben sandwich (Grilled sourdough sandwich with Gruyère and Cheddar, sliced pastrami, sauerkraut, gherkins, Emmental and Russian dressing) tasted great, and portions were really generous! Staff were friendly also and it was just a great time :))
"Hoe gaat het?"…read more You'd be forgiven for thinking that a question like this would be greeted by a fond response in a Belgian bar, but, alas not. The Good: The beer is authentically Belgian/Dutch. The nibbles too. The bar staff are friendly. The couches are comfy. The Bad: The bar is a little bit Disneyland Antwerp. The staff aren't equipped with any Dutch. The French radio piped in is very annoying after an hour or so. The Ugly: There is a God awful high-pitched whine when the beer is being poured from tap. So if you're Dutch or Vlaams and you're missing some home comforts stop in, bud don't expect this be become a home away from home.
Huis Wit is at least as good as Wieckse Witte!

It really put me of my sub! Normally get served fairly quickly, and there were plenty of places to sit, it's a medium size place and they keep it clean. Subway's sub of the day deal is great for £1.99 you get a nice big 6 sub. They do a number of promotions too, I've won plenty of drinks, cookies and subs that way! Their coffee and choice of soft drinks is pretty average. I like their choice of breads and the herby cheesy ones my favourite. Also they have a good choice of sauces, and I really like the sweet onion one.

They do sandwiches, salads, drinks and hot food. I like their coffee, as it's only a quid for a huge filter coffee, and it's good coffee. Also if you pop in late in the day (I sometimes pop in on Sundays) they often reduce the prices on some of their salads and sarnies so you can pick up a tasty snack at a bargain price. They always keep it clean and tidy and the staff are very helpful too.

As with many of their competitors they do a meal deal of a drink, crisps and sandwich. Personally I prefer their pasta salads and fruit salads. All their prices are competitive and I'd agree with the other reviewer that their filter coffee is good. I tried an Americano there once but prefer the filter coffee (and it's cheaper too)!

Where else in Portsmouth can you get cod and chips for £1.90?…read more Not only is this a Chinese takeaway but they also serve a limited fish and chips menu. I believe their prices are the cheapest in Portsmouth, and yet the quality of their food is great (even the chips are always nice and fresh having been cooked in clean oil, and not kept heated for hours on end). It's such a busy place there's no time for chips to go stale anyway! Their Chinese menu is full of all your essential takeaway favourites at a great price and their king prawn dishes are my favourite as they feature a huge portion of proper big king size prawns, not the pale imitation you get in many places. Service is always polite, friendly and as quick as possible, and of course you can phone in your order then collect it to save waiting.
