Bourbon chicken was unnaturally red and really sweet. The orange chicken was brown and lacked any kind of flavor really. I did not see any sign an orange had been anywhere near it. Thankfully we only got takeout, because it took a little bit for them to get past the long stare before they finally handed over our food. Not a spot I would have stayed to eat, it felt like we were an unwelcome element. read more

I eat here all of the time and my food is always good, very consistent! Staff is friendly and wait times aren't too long unless it's a Friday or Saturday night which is to be expected. I ordered carry out yesterday and there was a piece of steel wool in my chicken that I slightly choked on. I did call and inform them and they offered to make me a new order but I opted for a store credit. I was told they use those type of cleaning pads to clean the woks so they knew what I was referring to when when I was explaining what was in my food. read more

Good old faithful Uncle Poons! This place has been around for a long time and we love it! It's not much to look at but the service is usually great and the food is good. Lately it has slipped on the food quality so I dropped a couple of stars. read more

Well, kept hearing about Uncle Poon's and finally had to stop in and try it after seeing a social media post and everyone chiming in that they all knew what was pictured was Uncle Poon's fried rice. A local legend of a place, I had to stop in. I must say after trying it that it's likely everyone knows this place just because it is local. I've had better Chinese food, but they're not bad, just nothing to drive out of the way for. In you're in the 'hood then stop in, you certainly won't be disappointed. They're about average. You know it's gonna be decent when you walk in and see the faded menu. House fried rice was great, minus the shrimps, definitely didn't care for that part but I have high standards when it comes to seafood (as should you). The sesame chicken wasn't bad at all and I enjoyed the eggroll a little, still average. Yeah. Nothing bad, but nothing really good. Setting and atmosphere everything you'd expect from a local neighborhood take out American Chinese place. The problem today is that it's just not worth it unless you want to eat at home. You'd spend less on a Chinese buffet and get more variety and usually sushi and teppanyaki out of it too. A solid 3/5 stars though. read more

We ordered dinner one night from Uncle Poon. The food arrived, but didn't seem to be fresh, but possibly made in advance. The food seemed very heavy and thick. General Chows Chicken was very sticky, the lo mein was very heavy. I think we will look elsewhere. read more

Most incompetent people in the USA! If you don't comprehend English hire someone to answer the phone that does.

My husband has loved this spot for years. The food is delicious and tonight the person who giving us our order went above and beyond with customer service! read more

The food is amazing and the customer service is always friendly but the delivery driver is so rude when he don't get tips, it hard times I don't have enough money to tip sometimes then he so rude about it and wants to slap his hands and rolls his eyes when he don't get a tip my friend told me they even stopped ordering from them because of him I love everything about uncle poons besides that and one time I didn't really have enough money to give a tip and I told him that and I said I was sorry but he wants to catch and attitude and he would not even hand me the food he was sitting it on the side on his car not only that if I don't come outside when he calls me he leaves delivery diver are supposed to come to the door and knock not make the customer come to the car that's just not right read more

Ordered from here while in town with fiancé visiting friends. I must say, the food is pretty tasty. I ordered the beef and broccoli combo which, though it had carrots mixed in, was pretty good. I forget what everyone else had, but the overall consensus was that it was good food. Also ordered Peking ravioli and these friend cheese wontons, which are like crab Rangoon but without the crab I guess. Regardless, they were delicious. I only gave it four stars because they forgot part of our order and we didn't feel like going back to get it. Probably should've though. read more

I love eating at Uncle Poon's.... I have been eating here for years and they always get my food right. The lady at the front always knows who I am which makes it feel comfortable. Food always tastes good read more

This place used to be really, really good..... I mean the customer svc was ALWAYS horrible, but I just chocked that up to them being in Spartanburg. When I would order and ask for delivery, the guy would ALWAYS remind me to Tip !!!!! Like WT?..... I always Tip, except when u ASK for one... Like I said THE FOOD USED TO BE GOOD! I ordered wings and fried rice the other night, and the wings were awful, they had no seasoning and they were raw on the inside (I don't care how much turmeric u put in the flour to make them look golden brown).... u still have to cook them properly .....Even the fried rice tasted old.... just not as good as they used to be.... And YES, the customer service still sucks, they don't even say goodbye, they just hang up on u after U place ur order......it used to be worth it cause the food was so good, but not anymore.... just NOT the same.....Don't bother!!! read more

I have been eating at uncle poon's for years and although I no longer live in Spartanburg, I try to make there when I am in visiting because they're normally really good, however I gave them two stars because as of lately they're not that good and I usually don't like leaving bad reviews (even if they're bad) but I got two orders tonight and the rice was scorched and burnt, they charged too much for the rice to be burnt and scorched I've never minded the higher prices because it use to be worth it:( read more

I have only had takeout from here, so I can't speak for delivery. Their fried rice is excellent. They use just the right amount of soy sauce, and it has bean sprouts and onion. You won't find any of the chopped carrots and peas that a lot of places around here use. I ordered the Shrimp with Lobster sauce. The shrimp were large and perfectly cooked. My fiance ordered the General Tso's chicken. He claimed it was crispy and just the right amount of spicy. It had the dried peppers right alongside the chicken, which if you like more of a kick you could eat them, if not you could set them to the side. The service we received was excellent. They even put the hot mustard and sauce packets in the bag for us. I definitely recommend them and will return the next time I'm in the mood for Chinese food. And they cater, so I would definitely use them in that capacity if needed. PS, they have a sign on the door that says they don't accept credit cards, and the menu says 'Check or Cash Only' read more

This place was an A-OK for me.. As we lack a selection of Chinese restaurants in spartanburg .. I've come to unclepoons when I crave Chinese They never seem to dissapoint me in waiting longer than I'm told The food is a bit too greasy for me but it's not blan.. Just packed with calories Would I recommend for you to try it?? Maybe once or twice a year read more

I have been eating Uncle Poon's food for 25 years now, and it is the best Chinese food in South Carolina. It is authentic Chinese Food, comparable to the food in New York City, where I grew up. I have NEVER had bad food from this restaurant, so, can't understand the negative reviews. My favorite is the sesame chicken, delicious! read more

Great food, great prices, friendly staff and I love that they now expect card. My go to Chinese restaurant!

The food and service are always fantastic! Best fried wings. Delivery doesn't take long. Best Chinese food in Spartanburg!

If I could give a less than a 1 I would. Food was disgusting. I ordered sesame chicken and honey chicken. Each plate looked like the chicken had been old. The chicken was all molded together and dry. I had to throw out both orders. read more

Been going here for years. Best Chinese in Spartanbug. You get delicious foods and lots of it. You can easily make two meals out of one combo meal. Just wish they took credit cards. read more

Really like the food here, customer service has never been a problem, delivery drivers are great, there is delivery fee and they only accept cash or check. 3 years ago we started the tradition ordering Chinese on Christmas, called on Dec. 25 2017 at 7:00, they said they were closed because they ran out of food. This was extremely disappointing. Seems like should have been better prepared for the increased Christmas Day volume. Maybe next year. read more

I lived in Spartanburg,SC from Feb 1999 till March of 2013 and ate at Uncle Poons many many times. I'm back in Spartanburg visiting my family..Instead of cooking we decided to order delivery. The young man that answered the phone when I placed my order was rude and the 2nd time I called to see where our food was he said I told u it would be 45-- to a hour and hung up on me..well yes I got pissed off..but I still gave the driver a tip because he wasnt at fault, but I did tell the driver that the guy on the phone was rude and hung up on me. That makes me not want to eat there ever again..the driver remembered me from years ago.. so NO I WONT EAT THERE AGAIN.. The food was ok..but still not good enough to take that kind of crap.. read more

It's a bit pricey but it is the best Chinese restaurant in Spartanburg food is top notch

Had take out from Uncle Poon's twice this week, once at the requests of my grandchildren. Generous portions of fresh delicious food. Our family will continue to enjoy Uncle Poon's on a regular basis. read more

We grab takeout from here on a regular basis. We love the Vegetable Delight, and we get General Tso's tofu. They are so good about us being vegan. Their actual location is a bit run down but the food and service is great. They only take check or cash, which is a pain, but the Bi-lo next door has an ATM if you don't plan ahead. They also do delivery and are super fast and nice! read more

Fast delivery. Always great customer service and food is awesome! Cash only for deliveries!

Been going here for years. Best Chinese food in town. Not to greasy. Even simple dishes like pork fried rice are amazing and full of flavor. Cash only though, but bilo next door has cash back if you forget! read more

Our first take out order from Uncle Poon's. Oh my, I cannot say enough great things about the service and the food!! My husband ordered the Sesame Chicken and I ordered the Chicken Chop Suey. Both exceeded our expectations! Everything was fresh, hot, generous in portion size and cooked to perfection. We also ordered the fried cheese wontons. It came with a generous amount of delicious plum sauce for dipping and it was just as great as the entree's. The staff was very nice and helpful in answering our questions when ordering over the phone and when my husband went to pick it up, he was welcomed as if we were long time customers. So happy that we found Uncle Poon's online and decided to give it a try. It was our first visit, but most certainly will not be our last!! 11/5/19 8:45pm. read more

Best Chinese I've tried in Spartanburg thus far. I just moved here in April and I'm a Chinese fanatic. Their food is always delicious and it's a decent price AND is cooked quick! They have dine in, carry out, and delivery which is convenient...though I wish there was more space to sit inside the restaurant. It's pretty small. The taste of the food makes up for that though! :) read more

Outrageous... First I had to run next door for cash(no cards accepted here). Very inconvenient, since this was 4 separate work orders. Then one lunch order of shrimp and broccoli was basically all rice and three shrimp. Another had ordered the same and received at least 6 shrimp and more broccoli on hers. When she called to ask for replacement or refund, the worker told her to 'TAKE SOME FROM THE OTHER ONE!' Seriously?! She should go to her co-workers half eaten lunch and steal some shrimp? Pushed too far by this answer she immediately took the meal and receipt to Poon's (where a red headed young guy claimed to be the owner) to demand a refund, STILL she was refused. At this point she stepped outside, called the police, who came. They promptly returned her money to her. read more

My husband & I wanted to try a new restaurant. I am sooo glad we tried this one. Seriously, hands down the BEST Chinese food I've ever had! Their egg rolls are amazing. Big, crispy and fresh! All of the food was hot & fresh & delicious & took no time. They were very nice as well. I got the Beef & Brocolli & my Husband got General Tso's chicken both with brown rice & an egg roll each. Can say this is definitely on our favorites list now!!! read more

Uncle Poons food is great! It is a little pricey, but we typically don't mind paying a little extra for better quality. The reason I'm rating this restaurant 3 stars is because we were reminded four times that 'we need to tip.' I felt it was extremely rude for the driver and the gentleman who took our order to continue pressuring us to tip the driver. We are familiar with tipping your bartender, delivery driver, waitress, etc. We have worked in the food and beverage industry for years and I would never imagine telling my customers they are obligated to tip me. Like I said as far as their food goes, it is excellent. However, their customer service could use some work. read more

We are fans! No frills, good food, we love General Tso's, house noodles, Bourbon chicken, and they have absolutely the best eggrolls!

This is the best all around take out Chinese in Spartanburg. The fried rice is the best I've had anywhere. Fast, hot, affordable...it's great to take home and enjoy with a movie. read more

Best Chinese food in Spartanburg, I think. They deliver also, which is a huge plus! If you haven't already, give them a try!!!

This is exactly what you think. A good Chinese takeout place. Nothing fancy but better than average. Thanks

Tried to order delivery. They wouldn't deliver and I was only 4 miles away. Drove over because the food reviews were great. They don't take credit cards. Give me a break. What a waste of time. It's 2017. Go buy a square. read more

Terrible Customer Service, Mediocre food at best (bring your Zantac), and doesn't take a debit card. If you want to spend $8.00 - $9.00 for a small amount of mediocre food and intensely bad service then this is your place. Normally I can give anyplace the benefit of the doubt it I have a negative experience and attribute it to an employee's bad day and not return. They refused to take separate phone orders. This restaurant, also, takes poor customer service and incivility to a level of high concern. Four of us ordered from Uncle's Poon restaurant. I was witness to dialog from an Uncle Poon's employee that left me intensely concerned. He told her that she needed to take food out of her co-worker's food order if she thought she didn't receive enough shrimp. That statement alone was asinine and shameful. Anyone would be upset with such a statement. What I witnessed after was even more bizarre. She, understandably, felt the need for a refund. I met her there to discuss my concerns as well as stand as witness. When I arrived she was having to wait for a police officer because he stated she cursed him over the phone and refused to provide her a refund. I was in the cubicle next to her in a call support center and she is a professional who did not curse the restaurant employee. Carol and I both provided testimony to the officer and she was finally refunded her money for her lunch. In a stand for what is right I cannot let this go. I was witness to her treatment and suffered the heartburn from their mediocre food. Save your money and your time. read more
