After several attempts, I finally got her attention and asked for another glass of water. When our food came out, my wife asked for a refill on her water. A good server should not need to be asked. The food was excellent, which really saved this review. After finishing our meal, we again had to flag down our server to get our bill. When she brought it, she did not mention whether she would be back for it or if we should pay at the host station. Since we didn't see her again, and we still had a long drive ahead of us, we went to the host station to pay. We had noticed that there was a 3% "Service Charge" on our bill, and a disclaimer printed on the bill stating that the service charge was the property of Green Mill, and not our server. We asked the manager, who was at the host station, about it, and he explained that it was because of rising costs. Well, if your costs are rising, change the prices on your menu. Don't add a "Service Charge." When I see a "Service Charge" on my bill, I interpret that as a tip, and I will decrease the tip that I leave by that amount. I don't care that you printed your disclaimer on my bill, you can explain to your servers why their tips have decreased. Adding a surcharge, or service charge as you call it, is the lazy way around changing your prices and printing new menus to reflect those price changes.
